    My first encounter with anhydrous wasn’t a pleasant one. I was just a kid at the time. My father was filling the applicator tank as I was walking up to where he was working. Next thing I know I’m on the ground gasping for air and my throat and nostrils were burning. The wind had changed and I walked right into the fumes. It only lasted a few seconds but it basically knocked me out. I never got close to the tanks while he was filling up again until I was older and understood how dangerous it could be.

    IN america we have what is called tooth chisels - rippers - that just hook up to the back of tractors - 100 Hp or more - that is 36in / 48in long - and yu can get them from 4 to 10 in line which would be about 7 / 8 / 10 feet wide - how hamned hard is the dirt there that a plow such as that - which would do a lot more in less time - would not work - those dozers go so slow - thats ODD ? ! ?

    Looks like nitrogen prices are double or more the world over. Surprised how little you use 100 units per Ha ( like 40 per acre) would be nothing in the UK. Surly you must add some more when the crop is growing ?? Can see why you use the gas as quite a cost saving and the urea granules probably wouldn’t find much moisture on the top anyway?

  • @wellscody86
    @wellscody86 2 года назад

    Seems like your gas/liquid isn’t getting deep enough or enough cover over it once in ground. I know you want it ideally in the top few inches of topsoil where the roots can use it but what if it was added to dozer rippers about 1 foot down the shanks? I get that the spread of the rippers is wider than the injection discs but you’d be getting two birds stoned with the same joint. We use urea for our fields just before a rain or irrigation.

    In our area spreading urea on the surface doesn’t seem to work very good so it goes on with the air seeder in a separate band. Must be because of our lighter low clay soil

    Does the running costs of the D11 for ripping work out cheaper than a high hp tractor for ripping in the long run?

    • @djeity
      @djeity 2 года назад +2

      He said in a previous Vlog that the D11s use 100L/hr of diesel, which is running about AU$1.60/l right now I believe, so that's $160/hr not including man hours, wear and tear, or other items. A D11 has a width of 2.8m and the ripping speed looked like maybe 8km/h, if so that's 2.24ha/hr or 5.2ac/hr, which works out to AU$30/acre in fuel costs only. With that said they have the D11s and got them for a song, whereas a "high HP" tractor would be $500k used.

    • @jacksonfamily7559
      @jacksonfamily7559 2 года назад

      @@djeity width between rippers is 1.5 meters so effective ripping width is actually 4.5m

    • @djeity
      @djeity 2 года назад

      Thanks! So that's 3.6ha/hr at 8km/hr, which would be AU$44/ha or $18/ac for fuel.

    Really enjoy the content as someone who grew up in agriculture and now have city lifestyle.

    Cheers Peter

    you should mount a camera recessed at the top of the blade so when the blade is lifted you can still see. i would do 2 on the outer edge of the mesh so you have a nice panoramic view. you could have 2 screens like mirrors in the cab. and i would also put 2 on the rear for ripping etc. feed them to the same monitors but switch at the push of a button.

    • @thejacksonbrothers
      @thejacksonbrothers  2 года назад

      Hi Russell, it’s kilos per hectare but at 100% nitrogen. So it takes about 120kilos of anhydrous ammonia and 200kg of urea to equal 100 units if that makes sense👍

    • @robman2095

      Not sure if it is related but Incitec has been convinced by the government to continue operating its urea manufacturing in order to keep our diesel fleet running in Australia after China stopped exporting it. Incitec is now producing urea as fast as it can , and as ammonia is used in the production of urea, maybe that is affecting the supply of anhydrous ammonia and therefore increasing the price this year.

    • @jefftheaussie2225
      @jefftheaussie2225 2 года назад

      There was talk of a urea/nitrogen plant at Narrabri, the gas is there in abundance. If that is allowed by the ‘progressive’ people who like to stop things it should make a difference. Jeff
