The "500 yards" only applies in a wide open field. As soon as you get into the woods with this the range tanks. Same goes for the GPS unit. It won't give you an accurate position in the woods unless you are at 1/8 of the advertised distance.

To be honest I don’t believe I took it to that distance however even in the woods at 100-200 yards I have no issues

I’ve had two of these collars, both have failed! I’m sorry I paid good $ for these products, sport dog needs to step up their game.
