Don't forget to pick up a KS tuned timing tensioner. The oem hydralic tensioner is notorious for failing. Great work 👍👍👍
mannnn, i would've done that and the balance shaft delete but I already have the h23 manual tensioner setup, its been good to me so far :D
I remember when you just started out Rocky. Now you’re doing serious stuff. Wow man great progress. I’m inspired to do more!
ayeeeeeee, thanks for being a long time subscriber :D and hell yeah bro, we can do anything if we're stubborn enough hahah
I have Exedy Stage 1 with a 8lbs Fidanza flywheel since 2009 and still going strong. Not one hiccup! Good choice.
Congratulations man! Hey btw the hoes that came in the box is for your clutch fluid distribution box/bracket and the bearing goes on your clutch fork. For the valve keepers, compress the spring put a magnet to catch the keepers, swing the block over the edge of the table and hit that valve lightly with a dead blow hammer. Keep building man 👏👏👏 you are an inspiration!!
thanks for all the tips bro! I'd def hate to ruin the valves again hahahah
Excellent work brother removing the oil pump 3 times I feel your pain there.
You have achieved so much on your own.
My timing belt tensioner failed a week after I replaced my timing belt lol! luckily I was idling and already under the hood when it happened 😂 so I bought a manual tensioner and a new belt
Thanks a lot bro! You don’t know how tempting it was to say, F this, and send it off to a shop 😂😂😂
@@johnnyghoul8100 ah man, that sucks 😩😩 which manual tensioner did you go with??
@@Rawrkee 1320
FYI: the o ring you didnt install on the oil pump first time is actually not needed even though it shows it in the manual but it wont hurt to have it in
Thanks for the info! Any idea what that hole is for???
0:58 bro that made my day🤣💀
Ohhhhhhh Yeah I hear they say to zip tie down those rockers or the springs could pop out and it's a pain in the butt. Damn, I'm glad you saw that homie.
Love your content bro, shouting you out all the way from New Jersey 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Your inspiration man, I'm currently doing my head in my small garage too and i get discouraged at times. Its not as easy as it might seemed. Oh and congrats!!!!
Thanks bro!!! Best of luck on your rebuild! And yes! I know exactly what you mean when it gets discouraging 😂😂 What are you doin to the head???
@@Rawrkee lol thanks man and I'm doing the head cus when I got the lude I knew the head was going to give out eventually. Then it finally did. So I ordered a oem head rebuild kit and got everything new like you did. New oil pump, water pump, pistons etc. I even brought a mishimoto radiator. I don't have a cherry picker cus my garage is too small for one so I pull the head out and manifold out only with my dad that came down from New York for a 3 days to help me. I'm waiting on him to come back in May to help me finish. All I have left to do is send the head out which I'm doing today. I also redid the whole exhaust due to contamination when the head blew. I also got new headers upper and lower, new o2 sensors bank 1 and 2. And a new catalytic converter as well. I wish I can send you pics of everything and your more then welcome to come fly down to Orlando to help me if you want, lord knows I need it 😂
I just started my build. I got a euro r head type s pistons h23 crank euro r manifold 63mm tb skunk2 pro 2 cams ferrea valves and springs, vibrant header. Euro trans Putting it in a crx.
Daaamn bro, im really like this videos
In love of H22
Thanks bro! I’ll be sure to get it done, I’m tired of not driving the prelude 😩😩😩
“ I would usually leave it alone!” 🤣
Thats the clutch i run in my lude with a H23AV in front of it. Works perfect. Another good video in the books! Congratulations bro! Imma go scoop up on that calendar. 👍👍
thanks bro! are you also running the OEM style or are you on stage 1 or 2?
@@Rawrkee Its stage one. Nothin crazy.
Yo Rocky what about sleeving the block since the FRM (fiber reinforced metal) cylinder walls start to degrade around 120K miles resulting in the notorious oil burning...I have a pearl white 98 SH bone stock with 142K miles that I've been restoring for the past year and a half...love these videos;) ...
Yo I can’t wait to do mine on the civic! Nice video bro!
Hell yeah! Do it ASAP so I can follow your guide 😂😂😂
My 5th gen lude just needs a Hondata S300 and exhaust.
throw some rags under the valves while trying to take out the keepers. easy peazy.
Yooooo hypeeee
You have to place something underneath the valve to hold it in place when compressing the spring to get the keepers out. Otherwise the valve is moving with everything and no way to release the keepers
🤔🤔 I might have to reinstall the head to the block for this 😂😂 unless that might bend the valves
@@Rawrkee no need for that. Place a couple of balled up rags under the head while it’s on your work bench is all.
Love the dedication. Seen you on SAC on FB a while back and kinda cool to see you on here doing your thing. Hope to learn from you.
Ayeee, thanks bro!! Do you have a H series too??
@@Rawrkee Naw I'm going to attempt to rebuild my B18c5
I feel like that one tool that aligns top on the valve and smash it with a hammer will do the job better.
Hey man do you know of anywhere to get a carbon fibre intake manifold for a H22a? It appeared like they were made a while ago but i cant find any places that make?
Sup bro I have a Honda prelude type sh , I want to ask you which type of clutch is better for the h22 or you type of clutch did you choose because my clutch on gear Reverse grinds already I want to buy a new clutch but don’t know which one ? im kinda new to preludes and love your videos man 💯😎
Nice 5th gen! I'm building a 4th gen. Do you have or know of a recourse for window molding? Especially for the back window. If you thank you!
Does anybody know why my 3rd gen prelude keeps on blowing up the battery main fuse?
any reason you decided not to take the balance shafts out? you had the crank plate off already an the oil pan.
I took the ones out of my h32a vtec block for less rotational mass. curious why you decided not to.
Also the belt tensioner needs to be swapped for a manual. big fail point
hey i really like the vid! Do you mind me asking where i can get one of those books on the h22 motor?
I would like to know as well
No balance shaft delete kit from KS tuned? That's a must for the h22
Why do people delete the balance shaft?
What website you use too order your OEM parts?
try to hold the valve from underneath, to prevent it from moving with the spring when you compress it
I’m thinking of getting a huge C clamp and using a socket to press down on the valve seat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe paint the block and pressure wash the engine bay ? Just a few video ideas that would be pretty cool
whattt?? I didn't even know there was a paint for the engine block, I might check it out, thanks bro!
How many FedEx packages did you deliver during the rebuild?
Hey bro, what book are you using to build the h22? Any info would be great
its the Prelude Service Manual, you can find it on ebay. If you go on the Facebook groups, you can probably get a pdf version by asking
Why does you oil filter angled up towards the intake manifold?
its a Type SH block. The Base models are directly underneath the intake manifold
@@Rawrkee oh yeah, the atts unit
balance shaft delete is must... 😅
Hey where did you get that book?
Used on eBay, Honda Prelude Service Manual
🚀🚀🚀
did you machine the head and the block?
no sir, my motor never over heated and I was impatient hahaha However, I did get the head decked and cleaned up at a machine shop
What book is that?
what book are you using?
Honda Service Manual, you can find them used on eBay or you can ask around on the Facebook groups, someone might have the PDF
what book is that you are using
Prelude Service Manual, they’re all over eBay. There are two versions, one for doing pretty much everything, the other is for electrical
Put some rags under the valves so they don’t move when you push down.
But the whole head lifts up as well 😩😩😩
@@Rawrkee another way I’ve done it, put a socket on an extension with a little bit smaller diameter than the retainer and push the retainer and spring down till the keepers fall out.
@@Rawrkee ruclips.net/video/xtO8ev0Q9jc/видео.html
Did you try using a magnet to remove the valve keepers
I'd need a mega magnet for that 😭 the valve keepers are pretty seized on there, I might have to use a socket and hammer >_
@@Rawrkee usually when u press down the valve springs you should be able to move the valve keeper with magnet because it's 2 peices of metal sitting front and back it might just be sitting in place just make sure those keepers thing don't go fly at your eyes always safe to where eye protection
I went back and looked at the video u can try putting something under the valve to hold it so when you press the valve the valve won't move except the spring it looks like the whole valve is moving with it or try sitting the head back on the block and try to see if it holds the valve when you compress it and see if the keeper would pop out and make if u do happen to try the method with the head on the block make sure to for each valve you put it at the block at TDC so if the valve do fall u will know which valve go to which hole
Hey i want to ask help on my h22 5th please
Shieeee something about openning new parts is just theraphy
worked on many Honda motors as a teen, if you're going to do a clean on the block , should take the engine block and tear it down again, most people rush to get the project up on to the road to show off the build, but since its all out and new parts are in, maybe pace the time you have and take the engine to a place that does sand blasting or make you're own sand blast kit, also if you're just making a rebuild, 99 percent of shows i seen are cars that look so janky and ugly because people didn't take there time, you got it all out already, make it better then it came from the manufacture, take my word for it.. more time you spend on it the better it will become at the end
Thanks for the encouragement, wisdom, and reminder to slow down 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m def in that boat of tryin to get everything slapped together but now I’m taking the time to clean it up me now there are a bunch of mini projects I wanna tackle 😂😂😂😂
@@Rawrkee trust me all the little things come together afterwards, just tackle that block before anything
Fuck its too late! I found you a gasket kit for you!!!!!! Brand new from honda not opened. Too late I guess
Edit: those valve keepers are a real pain in the ass. Mine did the same thing. I used penetrating lube. No luck. You can try to use want worked for me. Heat! Like a torch but be very Careful bro!
mannnn, that gasket kit would've came in clutch 😂😂😂 and hell yeah bro, I'm thinking of just using a socket and hammer, thats what everyone on youtube says and it also says so in the book haha
@@Rawrkee yea i would have just said pay your shipping fee and its yours. But i didn’t find it in time. Sorry bro
