Cut keys on the express for a couple of jobs and it is amazing. Tried the framon 2 with a Schlage key for one of the same jobs Measured the original key and the cut key and the code key was a 100%accurate and the factory key wasn’t. Amazing!!
I have the Framon 2, and it is a very accurate machine. You do not need to calibrate it very often. If I could only have one code machine this is the one I would want. I think it takes a little longer to set up the first cut and change out blocks when changing manufacturers (Kwikset to Schlage, etc) than just inserting a different card into the HPC 1200 but you know if you make a Sargent or Best key with the Framon, it is going to work. #Lockboss
This is definitely the machine I'm going to buy for doing edge keys by code. The Framon #2 doesn't need firmware updates, and will probably never lose it's value. #lockboss
Conner gets extra points for putting that in the "fricking" Bloopers, as he is now a super #lockboss We love PJ's "deer in the headlights" thought process...
I regret not ordering a Framon 2 when I first heard about them a few years ago. I was told about them by someone who lost one out the back of their van and after picking it up out of the road it still worked like a charm. May have a purchase in my future. Thanks for the video. #Lockboss
Frank Agius The Inventor Of Framon Was A Genius Locksmith And Machinist . I Have My Framon # 2 SInce 1994 And Still Going Strong . The Quality Is Amazing.
100% agree with the wider root of cuts. Not only to help make sure the user didn't make any mistakes on spacing, but also to account for how many cheap knock-off companies there are now. Example: Kwikset, Defiant, Gatehouse, Brinks, etc., ALL use a Kwikset key blank....but their spacing isn't ANYWHERE close to being the same! 😂 This allows you to account for cheap manufacturing.
I love mechanical machines like this. They are super reliable and accurate. We all love new electronics, but the most reliable are machines are mechanical and lack all the bells and whistles. #lockboss
The Framon 2 is perfect for making different cut depths due to imperfect pins in the kits that are 97% thru 98% accurate prompting you to take on the adjustments down to the thousands respective to the pin measurements, even the HPC Blitz doesn't have it as explicitly. EPD - Pin Size = Framon2 Cut Depth.
It’s kind of neat seeing on this machine how you really have to dial in your measurements and seems like you definitely have to pay attention more than some other key cutters. #LockBoss
Great info for someone like me that doesn't have a code machine yet. What's the cherry on top is seeing all the shavings so it tells me you use this machine a lot. What I think might be even more important is that right now, my first ever topo chico is chilling in the fridge. #LOCKBOSS
It’s a great machine. My first code cutter machine. It’s easy to get lost with the graduations on the dial so have to learn to take your time but the accuracy is outstanding and your basically “calibrating” it each time you set up your first key. Framon also has one with digital readout if I remember right. Thanks for sharing. #lockboss
I just have the book and it’s from the 80’s LOL still works great!!! #Lockboss your blocks are so shinny compared to mine😂 never tried making wider I like that!!!! You locked up in the bloopers man you saw me I was a nervous wreck LOL!!!
I have used a Framon 2 for years and have never been disappointed. They are Rock solid. A big plus is you can also cut Medeco keys as well. No cards to have to keep up with as well as with the HPC Blitz. Thanks for another great presentation.
Thanks, PJ!! I didn't realize by already owning one of these great machines made me a #LockBoss! I love mine!! I have to travel some really bad back roads to get to different jobs and I can ALWAYS count on my Framon2 to be spot on accurate!! It, in my opinion, is one of the best machines that any locksmith can own!!
ok so this is in affect an #LOCKBOSS Miniaturized Milling machine . It is very similar in function to a 1940's era US NAVY SURPLUS WARREN & SWASSEY TURRET LATHE, that I used 30 years ago as a machinist. Great Job on the description too.
I have always thought it was a great machine. I have never been able to use one because my boss had an HPC Blitz. Now that I started my own business and use a Foley Belsaw 200, witch I can do most anything you can do with a $3000 machine, I am glad to see someone else agrees with me. #lockboss.
I got the Framon 2 last week after lots of research as my first code cutting machine. All the keys i've cut so far have been perfect, and its design and function speak to the tinkerer in me! #Lockboss
i have one, and i love it. i also have an HPC 1200 blitz and it is good too, and can be faster, but when i need to know the keys are perfect, framon 2 is the go-to machine and it's very easy to adjust too, which it never really needs anyway. i'll never sell mine. #lockboss
I have a Framon 2 that I picked up used. It's missing some of the accessories but does exactly what I need it to. I like that machine; it's definitely a tough little thing and is pretty easy to calibrate and keep calibrated. The book with the key data has proven extremely useful as well. I think cutting a key on a Blitz is a bit faster, but the Framon 2 is more accurate. Thanks for the video! #Lockboss
Great video, JP. Now, after watching you explain the strengthens, it makes sense why the Framon 2 is more precise. I also think the user also has more control the making repeatable cuts that are not standard such as a wider root. Sometimes a manual machine where they don't tell you to cut is better than a card. I would personally buy a Framon 2 if I had the money. #LockBoss
I've always been a bit intimidated by what I EXPECTED it to be like using the Framon 2. After seeing you use it now this #LockBoss is more EXCITED to get my hands on one to try it myself. This WILL be on my list of new machines. Thank You once again PJ for helping to share and explain our #LockBoss World.
This will be my next big purchase, been using 1200 for a long time and love it. The Framon is a machine I have always been interested in. Thanks for the video. #Lockboss
Great video #LockBoss. I always wondered how these machines operated. i had heard many people rave about them. Really apprecaite the quick tutorial on how to operate this tool, Thanks, Oh and Conner thanks for the Bloopers!
This looks like an awesome machine. I love that you can see the actual measurements of the depth and spacing. I can see how some folks might not like the way that works, but to me, that's no kidding what's happening inside the lock, whereas relying on just the #X pin systems for each of the manufacturers is more like depending on some magic numbers. #lockboss
#Lockboss Thanks for a great video. This is a very interesting machine especially since it appears to work so well and it is at a bit of a budget price.
I have a Framon 2 arriving today -- out for delivery as we speak :) After shopping around, the value added by all the extra included accessories (DSD info, dial caliper, Genericode software, extra Medeco cutter, etc.) is excellent. But what really sold me was the responsiveness from Phil at Framon. These are real people that will help you figure it out. In my experience Framon products are well built and non-plastic and just seem to work. If you're in the market for a non-bells & whistles manual code machine, it's worth taking a look at the Framon 2. #Lockboss
🌵🇨🇦 I have both a Fra2 and a 1200, and I definitely use my Fra2 more. As a hobbiest, I go more for accuracy than speed, but I can see and understand people that cut keys for a living may prefer the 1200 for speed. I have never thought about widening out the root. The FC8445 is 84° while a Schlage is 100° with a root of .031. would you go from (for example) .216 to .246 on your first cut? #LockBoss 🇨🇦🌵 Someone get this man a Teleprompter, and don't put this in the bloopers.
As always, a great video, PJ. I see the advantage of learning the spaces and depths, but...man... this #lockboss just really likes his NEW Blitz 1200 that I just bought from CLK!!
For an auto shop that wants to also provide keys what machines on the market are suitable? do you maybe have a video that list maybe what someone would need to start up?
Looks like a very well thought out and put together machine. If I'm ever in the market for a new machine I'll definitely give the Framon serious consideration. #Lockboss
Awesome video PJ, I’ve wanted to learn more about this machine ever since I heard of it, especially since a lot of #lockboss folks love them; thanks for doing this!
I have heard amazing stories about accidents that happen to these machines, and they cut perfect keys (without needing to be calibrated). I have a 1200cmb, i have been curious about these for some time, i hope to get a chance to demo one sometime and see for myself. I have a terrible memory, so the 1200 may be better suited for me, but i may surprise myself? #lockboss
My new framon 2 and express coming in today. Been a HPC man for 25 years ready for the change. #lockboss
Cut keys on the express for a couple of jobs and it is amazing. Tried the framon 2 with a Schlage key for one of the same jobs Measured the original key and the cut key and the code key was a 100%accurate and the factory key wasn’t. Amazing!!
