I’m praying for a good report! I’m 53 and way overdue to get one done. I deal with anxiety and panic attacks, which is why I haven’t done it yet, but you’ve helped to ease my mind a bit. ❤
Thank you so much for documenting and posting this. I'm 34 and have my first colonoscopy on Monday, and I've been super anxious about it. I also have IBS and a lot of anxiety and I've been low key freaking out about the prep part. This really helped
I'm so glad it helped. You're going to be totally fine. Talk to the nurses. It's normal to be nervous. The prep really wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. It's not fun lol, and it's not always comfortable. But it wasn't painful and it wasn't nearly as bad as a full on IBS flare.
Well done! Thanks for sharing as always. Looks like you managed pretty well through the whole thing. I can relate to the panic attack. You are right about facing it and getting through. Each time we do that it builds our confidence that we can handle this crazy life. I’m excited to hear what you’re up to next. Take care.💐
Thank you for this. I am so incredibly grateful that you shared this with everyone. I am writing this on a Thursday and I have my colonoscopy on a Saturday morning. This was really informative and I am less anxious about both the 'prep' and the procedure ahead. I have been on my 'low fibre/residue' diet for a couple of days and I start my 'prep' in earnest tomorrow. I recommend anyone that anyone waiting for their colonoscopy watch this vlog as it should allay any of your concerns Thank you again and GOOD LUCK to anyone awaiting their procedure. Have a great day 🍀
Thank you for watching! I'm so glad this was helpful. I watched a lot of videos like this before mine and they helped so much. Hope it all went well for you!
I am having both an EGD and a colonoscopy, with already having an EGD and not having a colonoscopy I am very nervous for the prep of the colonoscopy and the procedure. I have a severe anxiety disorder and have already put off the colonoscopy for about 2 years now but your video has put me a little at ease so I thank you for that. Ik I need to have this procedure because I have had stomach and bowel issues for a long time now and I'm hoping from these procedures I can finally get some answers to the reason why I feel the way I do but also to make sure I don't have cancer or other life-altering problems. I am also nervous because when I did have my EGD while waking up I had problems with my oxygen level dropping, waking up coughing and trying to catch my breath, Ig is how I can describe it. So this makes me nervous also and I'm sorry to drop this all on you that wasn't my intention all I meant to say was thank you for helping in more ways than you know!! I really appreciate it
I'm glad the vlog helped. I was so nervous and then it all ended up being totally fine and the peace of mind of knowing my symptoms weren't from something more severe was totally worth it. Once you're on the other side of it you'll be so glad you got it done.
IBS-D here. My colonoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 pm, so today was the major prep day. Lordy! I stopped counting my trips to the bathroom! I'm hoping for good results as the Cologuard test came back as abnormal. My MD told me not to worry, but I am. Thanks for the pep talk!
@@AndreaJSeverson All went well. The results were negative, however 5 polyps were removed. All that worry was for naught. Thanks for your support Andrea.
Hi, Andrea! I thought I had IBS, too, (common with ME/CFS, which I have), but I finally went to see a gastroenterologist, because things were getting worse. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy in late March. No polyps, but my doctor did 4 biopsies, and we discovered that I have Celiac Disease! I had no clue! Anyway, the prep was hard for me, because the solution made me feel so sick! Like you, I didn't put in the flavoring packet, and I'm glad I didn't. I managed to get it all down, but I couldn't stomach anything else at all except some water. Getting up in the middle of the night was tough, too. By the time I got to my appointment, I was a shaking mess (not due to anxiety) and could hardly stand up. Fortunately, I recovered just fine after it was all over. I'm glad you are getting some help. Too many doctors diagnose IBS, without actually ruling out more serious things.
Yeah, I’m so glad I’m going through this process. Thankfully I don’t have celiac but I’m sure that was a huge moment for you. Knowing that changes so much. Hopefully now that you know you’re feeling better.
I'm truly thankful for you documenting / sharing this ... I've had friends / co-workers / a neighbor who've had to do this 'but' I've never asked them 'how all this works' / what it's like ~ Gotta give you credit : ) I'm a ''sipper'' & normally never drink 1 full cup of anything, ever / all at once ! I don't think I'd be 'good' at that part : ( Yes, sounds like you were in Really Good Care !! Happy for you, for that ! & again, Thanks for sharing & yes, I made it 2 the end : )
I really hope this vlog helps someone who needs to get either of these procedures done. The anxiety of not knowing was really way worse than the actual experience. :)
I’m watching this to mentally prepare for my first colonoscopy tomorrow. Thank you for being so informative. I’m also very nervous because I’m on my cycle too so I am leary about that.
As you saw in the vlog, that was my experience as well. I had been grumbling about the test thinking they wouldn't find anything and it would be a "waste" since I was sure I just have IBS. But knowing that they found and removed a precancerous polyp made the whole thing worth it.
@@AndreaJSeverson yes, I was glad you went as well. You just never know what you have going on. I’m glad I didn’t wait 2 more years until I turned 50 as my PCP suggested. I felt like I needed to go ahead and have the procedure!
It would be far easier and faster for you to just search RUclips for other colonoscopy vlogs. That's what I did and I watched the top results that RUclips gave me. They were all very helpful. :)
Hope it went good, my mamma Is 54 and got both too last week, she’s failed her first one n was very upset, (3 weeks later re did n passed) she said the prep was harder this time but she said the place was great to her n she’s happy she got it done,
I was supposed to get a colonoscopy and egd but had to cancel because of insurance. I also have ibs and I am 42, and my gi doctor suggested I get the colonoscopy and egd, because of things my gi didn't like. Thank you for this video.
Insurance almost cancelled my CTE scan but thankfully my doctor was able to appeal. I'm so glad I was able to get these tests done and know for sure that it wasn't something more serious than IBS causing my problems. Thanks for watching!
Just watch this video I had an endoscopy without sedation which was my choice I said we're putting the tube down my throat I felt a star was choking but I was fully away in new everything that was going on and to be honest with you the thought of being sedated reach me out more than the actual procedure so that's why I said no and I don't need to have it done again the only reason I had it done was because I was low on iron and they wanted to check for a stomach ulcer before they gave me on tablets
Doing it without sedation is pretty common I think in a lot of the world. I think the US is one of the few where some amount of sedation is the norm. I was only partially sedated but I still have no memory, but since it was only a partial it wore off pretty fast once they were done.
Sooooo, ok, my RUclips stopped showing you in my 'hey wanna watch this?' so my ADD brain forgot to check. I had the exact same procedure in January. The prep is really the worst of the whole thing, really. I'm still in the middle of getting diagnosed with Fibro (she's very sure it is what I'm suffering from but it remains a diagnosis of exclusion where I'm at)so she wanted to check if I had IBS or even Crohn's, which I have neither. The hardest part of drinking that was that I didn't chose whether I put the flavour in. It came with 'berry taste' and the viscosity, beurk.
The prep was the worst, but now that I know what to expect it won't be so bad next time. I really hope you can get your diagnosis. The process of elimination to get to fibro is so frustrating.
I’m praying for a good report! I’m 53 and way overdue to get one done. I deal with anxiety and panic attacks, which is why I haven’t done it yet, but you’ve helped to ease my mind a bit. ❤
Please do it! It was so much less scary than I thought. Having a good doctor and team made the difference I think. They really put me at ease.

hello, were you awake when they inserted the endoscopy tube?
No, I was under twilight sedation. So I wasn't fully out but I have no memories of anything.
