When they are in that state, they are in a deep deep black hole and feels like it's a better way out for them and their family. I also think the penalty he has to pay back has alot to do with it too.. he would have to pay back around 10 billion won for all the cancellations of contracts and sponsorships. Just so sad.
Now can you imagine how he feels EVERY single day? Being alive during this time was torturous to him. It is alleged he apologised to his family and agency for causing so much trouble. It is clear that it wasn't just a selfish decision and wanted the damage to stop for those people too.
