Hey man I have vid suggestion: can you make Monty python and the holy grail antagonists into dnd monsters/enemies (including the sadistic white rabbit)
Considering how Momentum works, unless they somehow have a way to store that momentum, it will go away as soon as they stop moving. for Instance in D&D, if they spend a round not using their full movement, the momentum would either dissipate or at least slow some. How I would run it. If the Speed Demon did not use that gained 10ft of movement that round, he would lose it. If he didn't use his Movement at all that round he loses all gained momentum.
I think saying "it's movement is 10ft + it's distance travelled in the previous round or it's base movement speed, whichever is higher" is a fair way to write it. That way it doesn't have to worry about things like it going faster than it's base but slower than current speed.
This is basically what we used to fix the issue here! It now reads this: "At the end of each of its turns if the demon has moved at least half its speed then its speed increases by 10ft. If the demon takes a turn without having moved at least half its speed then its speed is reset to 60ft." This also incentives moving around more in 5e combat instead of just posting up and rolling attacks until one party dies.
if we assume speed demon speed only grows when they are running, since the ability is called Momentum, and to make it a little bit less OP, that the increase only happens if they move their full speed every turn, it means some speed demons are not super fast but can become with training, the fastest. You cannot train 24h a day but you can train a lot and get strong. Very nice BBEG for a campaign
I have to add my craziest D&D moment. I was in jail... Like real world jail and joined a d&d game in our unit. We played almost everyday. Near the end of one of our campaigns we were defeating the horseman of the apocalypse to become the new horsemen to stave of the coming end times. We had made a deal with the Archdevil Beliel lord of lies and master of hells forges. And he and several other archdevils arrived right as we were about to battle apollyon the horseman of death. We surmised that the Archdevil was sent on behalf of Mephistopheles the Archdevil of contracts to offer us a deal for immortality to combat the staff Appolyon has that will age you to dead with almost one hit. The contract with such a high lord devil had some serious fine print so I had to, as the parties charismatic and overweight drunk dwarf lord. Negotiate the terms of the contract. Out DM was clever and I decided to use my bluff skill in desperation to make a scape goat in the contracts clause our we were going to have to kill a npc we all knew and loved in exange for immortality. I needed to roll a 17 on a d20 to do it. Without the modification! Almost impossible. I rolled exactly a 17! Even our DM couldn't believe it. We all exploded in the day room with all these other inmates around us. 😂😂😂
I want to use that stat block for a Christmas session. They have to prepare themselves and surrounding areas for Santa Claus coming to town, at 16,451,612 km per hour.
huh nice vid, i made some of my own homebrew, it was balanced but kinda useless because of its restrictions, its like ranger only being good in a very very certain cituation
Cool. I was writing a huge comment on how to maximize the speed of your character but RUclips decided to reload the page and its gone now. Anyway. The tldr was that you can reach 3400 ft, 10880 ft if you rule that dash doubles your speed. That's approx 1.5 and 5.6 times the speed of sound respectively lol
It's always fun seeing you break stuff like this. Looking forward to seeing the fix the developers make to counteract the destruction of the multiple planes of existence.
Pointing this out here, the speed of light is always relative no matter how quick you are going, despite when at high speeds relative reality speeds up. In other words, a photon is moving infinitely fast. The photon's relative reality is a single moment.
I love how people are trying to debunk this with how it's obviously meant to be interpreted like you did not preface it with "If you take this rule completely at face value..."
it should be be +10 feet if they moved the previous turn, this way you kinda "fix it" because at some point it has to stop, hence it stops gathering momemtum
I made a monster with infinite movement speed just to make a point. It doesn't get any special abilities auxiliary or ancillary to being that fast, it can simply move to any point on its turn. You might be thinking this means it can teleport at will, but no. It must walk a contiguous path to its destination with no obstacles taller than about 3 feet or wider than 5. You might be thinking it can attack everyone in a round, but no. It doesn't have multiattack or legendary actions. It can only move quickly and has the rest of the abilities of a human commoner. Movement speed is only useful if you have other abilities that make it useful. It can literally walk up to you instantly, TRY to punch you, and walk an infinite distance away, but even if it did this every turn, it would still take a REALLY, REALLY long time to actually hurt anyone in the party, since it's basic attack does 1 point of non magical bludgeoning damage has has a +0 to hit.
I homebrewed modern vehicles into D&D. After doin some math to find out how fast they would go, I came to the conclusion that a motorcycle would have a top speed of 800 feet. And keep in mind, that’s me being EXTREMELY conservative with my estimates. If I wanted to go for perfect accuracy, I could’ve had it go more than double that speed.
Shit. I have to get it. I once played an insanely fast artificer rogue and the thrill I got was indescribable. Our ranger got a taste too after he picked up Ashardalon's stride.
Hi, I'm new to the game D&D. I chose to be a Celtic and I'm now choosing my subclass but I'm having a bit of trouble finding one that I want to play as deu to my three requirements. My three requirements are 1.Pure offensive like the berserker class, 2 . Allowing me to wear light or heavy armor, and 3. Allowing me to use weaponry do you know of a Celtic subclass that fits my three requirements or a subclass that is similar to it.
I'm going to guess you want a cleric class that can use heavy armor and is pure offensive? Edit: looked over the cleric domains. Tempest domain is the best option of what your looking for. However given your self-professed experience I'd reccomend War they're not as good but are probably more in line with what you want, given your self-professed experience. Forge is more of a tank's role.
Great video! Though it can come across as misleading to claim you 'found' the fastest monster in DnD when it's from a homebrew! Still awesome homebrew tho lol
I feel this feature could just easily turn off and reset if the demon hasnt moved by the end of its turn, its called gathering momentum afterall, you could grapple it and force it to reset its speed. Edit, WAIT A MINUTE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE FEATURE SAYS, Don't you think the demon stops for eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom?????
when you say "it takes infinite energy to reach the speed of light," you don't grasp the implications. it's not implying that the speed demon has infinite energy. it's implying that it can accelerate by 10 meters per turn, relative to its own perspective, forever, without reaching the speed of light. as it gets closer to the speed of light, this will have less apparent impact on its speed, but will nonetheless allow it to cross larger distances while aging less. for example, you can move 50 light years (as measured by the earth) in only 1 year (as measured by you) by simply moving so fast (98.995% the speed of light, to be exact) that 50 light years length contracts to 1 light year, or equivalently, that 1 of your years time dilates to 50 years (these are governed by the same factor, so refer to the same state). and so it continues, until you get anywhere almost instantly. all the while you're accelerating at what feels like a constant rate, and all the while never reaching the speed of light.
Druids are the least played D&D class, along with not many anime offering unique concepts that'd cater to them. New anime materials I've made have a bit more druid stuff, but it's not common lol
@BlaineSimple ah alright druid is one of my favorite classes and so i really want to have more people play them with a nice anime subclass but iv also noticed that there wasent many anime things that would naturly fit the vibe of a druid
bruh. that is so unbalanced. gaining momentum should only go up to +60 at most, with an increase of 5ft per turn, unless it is forced to stop then the momentum needs to be rebuilt. on another note...sovereign's glue trap will stop the speed demon from being able to move and grease slick will cause it to velocity damage itself into an object.

Yeah, and it resets when initiative ends lol. Just poor wording on the book's part.

physics wise I would imagine that amount of speed would probably break their bones or burn up from friction before they break the world.
3:22 an easy fix is: +10ft/round while moving at least 5tf that round and maybe land-move (based) only (, no flying).
My mind played the Sonic the Hedgehog theme the *entire* time. _SPEED_
Logical way to keep it from being crazy is that it reverts to 60 if they ever go a turn without moving
3:25 they kind of did that.
Yeah, that’s what makes sense from the name of the ability.
