      @@AngelRodriguez-jv6oc no, i think that the pcv is the problem because later i just take off the hose that goes from the pcv and the intake manifold and plugged it with a bot and a clamp so i don´t have vaccum issues. the car doesn´t smoke anymore and it doesn´t consume oil but i haven´t replaced the pcv for the correct one

      air filters being just a little too restrictive can cause the fresh air intake hose to start sucking oil out of the engine too. its the hose that connect to the air intake assembly before the throttle body, after the filter. pop the hose off and take a look inside it.

    I noticed a lot of oil in my throttle body by intake manifold. My car misfires bad. Pulled the pcv valve, and it was in fact stuck open. Changed it out but the car still misfires. Could this be due to all the extra oil I the intake and throttle body? I have not cleaned any of it out.

    • @luisnegrete-up6ll
      @luisnegrete-up6ll Год назад

      Might need a new throttle body. Check your plugs and make sure they got the right gap as well.

    • @Chemike21
      @Chemike21 Год назад

      @@luisnegrete-up6ll I doubt it's the plugs because my thinking is they all wouldn't go bad at once, and the misfire is on all 4 banks randomly

    • @luisnegrete-up6ll
      @luisnegrete-up6ll Год назад

      @@Chemike21 my next guess would be the wiring harness. They get really brittle and end up shorting out. My 1.8t just got a new throttle body and the plugs are all new and my rpm still moves slightly at like 800 or so

    • @Chemike21
      @Chemike21 Год назад +2

      @@longlivechina7538 the misfire was in fact a bad head gasket. I have 250k on the engine, and was not about to replace a head gasket, as I'd rather put in a new engine at that point. So I decided to mess around with it and pour one of those liquid head gaskets into my coolant.
      It fixed the coolant leaking into the engine, and the misfire went away. Now I have no shaking or noise when the car starts.
      Bad head gasket creates a misfire on these prius. A misfire creates a TON of noise on startup and shaking (as the coolant enters the cylinder).
      The stop leak head gasket liquid worked for me as a temp fix, and I will keep adding it until I need a new engine. I'll see how long it can last. The bottles are quite cheap, and seem to last for months.

      Oil catch can, hook it up to your vacuum. Manufacturers do this on purpose so you keep buying cars. This oil catch can will catch as much oil as possible that goes to the air intake, I have one and when I change my oil, I get at least a cup of oil.
