Other notable Scottish episodes: Raith Rovers pumping Celtic in the 94 league cup final and going on to lead Bayern Munich 1-0 in a European tie, albeit briefly! The rise and fall of Gretna FC. Third Lanark and their old Cathkin Park ground (now a public park with original terracing still present)
The Hibs famous 5 to the first European cup, or Hibs quest for the Scottish cup from queen Victoria to the iPhone. Celtic in the 90s was chaos but we see the difference today when our biggest club stopped acting like a family business. Rangers before Souness and Murray were fascinating as it’s pretty similar to today when they don’t have the most money. Falkirk breaking the world transfer record would cover early football in Scotland and England. 90s Partick Thistle were probably the closest we’ve had to a crazy gang with John Lambie and Chic Charnley. Dundee being owned by a guy who was wanted on war crimes with his best mates Col Ghadaffi and Saddam. Could go through some of Scottish football’s “juniors” and get some amazing stories from guys who just play the game because they love it. Or just do an entire episode on Scottish mascots. From the guy who does St Mirren’s Paisley Panda being a comedy genius to Partick’s Kingley being the stuff of nightmares. There’s loads mate. Scottish football isn’t massive but anyone who gives it a chance absolutely loves it.
In 1962 when they won the league they beat Rangers 5-1 at Ibrox and their achievements in the 62/63 European Cup was phenomenal. Alan Gilzean 11 goals in that competition.
A good one is Kilmarnock v Frankfurt in the early 1960’s. Frankfurt won the first leg 3-0, they scored in the first minute in Kilmarnock to lead 4-0. Kilmarnock won 5-1 to go through 5-4 on aggregate. Also Dunfermline beating Everton.
@@sean367 The SPFL. Rangers cheating. Scottish officiating where refs didn't clamp down on hammer throwers. The coaching standards on the Continent improved while in Scotland they kept trying to do what worked in the 60s and 70s.
Jeez i had no idea Dundee got to a European Cup Semi Final great find Scottish football was at the top table it seems in the 60s,70s,80s you wonder what happened compared to today with Scottish sides in Europe.
That was superb, Dundee United in the 80s were a brilliant team, story goes they were cheated out of a European cup final when Roma supposedly bribed the ref... Football in the 80s was so much better..
What other teams from Scotland do we need to cover next?
Dundee went through a phase in the 90's bringing in legends such as Caniggia and Ravanelli!

Dunfermline Athletic had a particularly good team in the early 1960’s. Definitely worth covering.

The purveyor doesn't have any control of the adverts, YT just generates them at any time.

They haven't won anything for 50 years....
