For the destroyed tank at 12:27, it feels more like it was picked apart by scavengers like you who were passing through after the town's abandonment by the military. The town itself isn't torn up by zombies, and the gate was in perfect condition, so it seems pretty unlikely that the tank was ripped apart by zombies. If it was left behind during the evacuation people that came across it later would be quick to scrap it for parts.
@@49mozzer didn’t even notice that it had burns on the texture. But I don’t think the implication is that the checkpoint was overrun and the tank was torn apart by zombies with their bare hands. So I guess so lol. Probably the only destroyed tank prop in the left for dead(?) model pack anyways

I love maps that utilize Left 4 Dead 1 and 2's assets. In those games, you book it through the game's levels and rarely do you get a chance to take a break and look around. Meanwhile, in Gmod, you are allowed that opportunity.
I love RP maps because they’re usually made with multiple players in mind so going in solo (with you) always feels extra lonely. Plus sometimes they’ll include places for specific roles for an RP server. Like the tunnel system in that one map, might have been RP_Downpour or something, which was probably put there with criminal/cop chases in mind, but just wandering through them, empty of all life but yourself, ugh it’s so good.
To my understanding Haptic Feedback vests or suits can do that. They'll fuckin' ruin your bank account though. People really payin' 5000 dolleridoos just to feel being choked in VRchat lol
I dont know if this was ever your intent, or if the thought ever crossed your mind, but I discovered your channel about a year or so back when I was going through a rough insomnia spell, I was able to correct my schedule due in large part to your videos. Turning my phone screen off and closing my eyes, imagining in my head while listening to you explore and describe these places, hit a part of my brain that nothing really has since I used to drift off to adult swim when I was a kid. So, indirectly, you really helped me out, and I appreciate that, so thank you, and keep it up, because I still find myself checking your uploads from time to time when I need a little help drifting off
@@drcraigus5914 sounds good and does work. I had insomnia for 10 years and read a book about curing it by a professional and read countless articles and in the end what worked is just stop being a weak hedonist and just have discipline and turn everything off and just be bored doing nothing. It is torture to yourself, but it's worth it for waking up refreshed. You will think "I'm just laying in bed awake still not sleeping" Nonsense. Ignore that voice and just persistently continue to wait in dark silence regardless.
nowadays, not much gives me a smile like hearing that welcome to gary’s mod. happy to have a creator to watch that explores themes and maps very similar to me. allows me to almost peer review maps with my own views. really adds to the whole art of these maps.
Your airlock comment reminded me of a pair of games where the airlock is definitely a breather, Doom 3 and Quake 4. In Doom 3 the airlocks are used as reprieves from fighting demons and other horrors of the facility your safe in those moments. In Quake 4 the same can be said and whenever you enter the human ship your literally in a safe area.
this map is based off of lfd. i was playing lfd the other day and went on a level that looked exactly like this. the very beginning with the church on the hill behind a smashed wall is what made me jump to this conclusion. edit: just found out the level is called, "death toll"
This video made me realise why I love your content so much. It reminds me of the war of the world audio book. A man following the hell of an alien invasion and describing the eireeness of it
The Christmas tree in the church wasn't just a reminder of people waiting for Christmas and it never coming, but also the fact that it's winter in this map probably means that it didn't just not come, but it was expected years ago.
There's a game that might suit your fancy, Generation Zero, although it's a first person shooter and can get pretty hectic at times, it's exploration potential and visual story telling is immense. They have recently kinda ruined the beginning of the game by adding NPCs and such so your not entirely alone like when I started playing but when your by yourself and not being torn apart by killer robots, putting the story together yourself and seeing the aftermath of a brutal and long fought battle is just fantastic
The creepy and the comfy is so well balanced in this map. I love the winter comfiness, the lighting, the wind, the snow fall -not too much and not too little. The glitches increase the exquisite dreaminess of it all.
I feel like it could be some kind of phenomenon happened here, but it is more likely a heavy snow storm that wiped out everyone and causes them to evacuate. Ive experienced being alone in such place with lights on but no people around, but you might get that feeling of unsettling
Your observations on the concept of 'Comfy Horror' have been very insightful. I've been seeking experiences like this for quite some time but wasn't sure how to put it into words or even begin to find stuff like this. The idea of being safe and cozy inside, with only a wall separating me from the hostile environment and entities outside. I hope this genre you've coined becomes more common terminology so it is easier to find these types of games.
Technically my second watch because I slept through the first. I love snowy maps, snowy locations are a definition of comfy and scary. My mom told me so many spooky irl stories in winter
I'm in love with your exploration series of creepy and comfy maps. Let alone the rest of your content I discovered around March of twenty twenty two. Bless you for this amazing content I hope your channel continues to grow
14:16 I've once literally had a dream I went to school and everything and it was just a normal day. Was so confused for 2 minutes if that really happened or not. Lol.
I enjoyed the wood paneling inside the one room with the box of documents. I want to know what they are about as they seemed important to someone. I would love more limnal spaces with different historical period impressions (70s, 80s)
I was more thinking it was after a war skirmish, like a bombing run or an enemy force passing the place, then the town left behind, the occupying force leaving.
Didn't help that i was playing world in conflict, could be soviet force moving through the town on the way to cascade falls and then reatreating after the nuke goes off there
20:21 these are pictures from the video game Dear Esther. Why were these here? Along with the candles. The candles were lifted from the game too. Plausible. Since the original Dear Esther was a Source mod
This map is totally an edited version of the one map that comes after the Church map in Left 4 Dead like that Church in the exact Church in the map and the exact placement also there is a store across from the Church with I am assuming an alleyway on the right of it yeah the Truck that usually is a little bit to the left of the opening in the stone wall is gone but also some stuff is changed a little bit like there is some more stuff in the Left 4 Dead Church like that extra room down the ladder but it is just an edited version of that map I mentioned and I like it the person that did this really did a wonderful job at making it feel like a version of the map that could be a custom campaign that basically is like an Encore version of it and no to those FNF fan's that see that word I do not mean that type of Encore I mean like a version of something that has not only a different feel to it but just longer and takes different route's and stuff if that makes sense
Can you do the Gmod map Nightmare house in VR, that used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid, recently re played it and it still holds up today. Nightmare house is more of a linear story though.
Im not really comfy in my house, you know why? its so Damn COLD all the time and since Heating everyroom would be like too much and it would also be too expensive 1:34

Speaking of PZ clothes affecting NPCs, it would be cool if you're wearing something like a military uniform and, while fighting raiders, they say things like, "holy S***, the military are still around?" or something similar. Taunts and comment based on clothing is what I'm thinking.

You have basically become the spooky inspector. Each time you do one of these maps it's almost like you're checking for how spooky each one is.
Just wait until vr comes with some sort of vest to give you a physical shake or something along with jumpscares.

Haptics do in fact exist, just very expensive and for enthusiasts of the tech, not very consumer ready yet.
The PSVR2 is the first headset to implement haptic feedback into the headset itself. It's gonna be very interesting.
