Glad we have a real DC... We were terrible at tackling. Worst in the FCS

idk i just think tackling isnt a coach thing at college. i guess it could be.but .. like my school wasnt the best but it felt like a player thing rather than a coaching thing when you sucked at tackling but that could just be me.

@@lmbaseball15 I see what you mean.. But most of these players got away with that crap in high school cause they were better than the rest.. In college the coaches have to elevate your game. Def put an emphasis on wrapping up

@@lmbaseball15 You could definitely put some of the blame on the players. But just like running backs have drills on not fumbling, defensive players like linebackers and defensive backs have drills where they tackle making sure they put the face mask on whichever side the ball is being carried on, Wrapping up and driving through. It’s basic stuff that gets lost in college and pros.

Seahawks during the Legion of Boom era was running very meticulous tackling drills that focused on angles, using the hips as a reference point, and driving the legs after contact. I'd say tackling drills are like any other, you get out what you put in.

Absolutely love it. Golden did something similar and worked on 1st and 2nd down.. 3 and 8+ would equal in a 1st down against us what seemed like every time. I rlly rlly hope he comes to Bama cause unlike Golden, he can actually develop players.. auburn recruited top 10 so they had some good players but they never got 12-15 top100 players yearly. Held LSU’s ‘19 NC offense to 23 points. Def kills the spread and over the top.

Miami was already running that we just didn't tackle well that's what we struggled at the most

Bs! Diaz doesn’t know what’s going on on the football field as a DC.

Apparently Steele is linked to the Bama job so I’m checking him out. Golding did a similar scheme 2 DT/2 EDGE rushers/2 MLB/ 3 CBs and 2 tall safeties. Only one of the safeties was decent at covering. I’m hoping if he comes he rlly improves on it cause Buddy said the defense helps from getting the ball thrown long but it didn’t on us and it sucked on third and longs across the middle.

He runs 3-3 personnel, tho. He's at Bama now, which is why I'm on this clip; I wanted to see what he ran elsewhere, and it's the same scheme he's running at Bama: 3-3 personnel either in an even front or an odd with an edge playing his read. Bama will move to a "two-fer" (2 DL's and 4 LB's), but I think Coach Steele is starting to see he has enough speed with his 3-3 personnel at Bama that he doesn't need to change groupings other than subbing.

Good analysis. Like others have already said Miami has not been good at tackling especially the DB's and the defense has been soft on the run. This makes for a scary season with this type of defense. Either way I'm excited about the new coaches and schemes, I can't wait for the season to start.

No wonder my Tide wants him. We’ve easily got the most talented edge rushers even with Will Anderson leaving. Besides Caleb Downs at DB we got Desmond Ricks 6’1/Jahlil Hurley 6’3/ Tony Mitchell 6’2… I’d still like to see a good bit of nickel,

i like 5 2 and 425s. and i love running 425s as 52s even. you play more man but you can get blizs in to stop options or running qbs. but mostly the plus is having a speeder guy to cover or bliz... you stop a heck of lot of plays in the back field while being able to support safeties a lil..... you have to have really good safeties. wtih a great dline its unstoppable, with an avg dline. it will most hold ppl to under 100 rushing and if you dont fuck up on coverage less that 300 passing.

Great job ! 👍You got yourself a new subscriber. 😁
Miami strongest position on the team is probably Safety.
    Avantae Williams
    James Williams
    Kamren Kichens
    👆smartest of the group
Brian Balom who not only impressed the last staff but is impressing the new staff as well.
I don't see Miami getting anymore Safeties from the transfer portal at this time. They were just young at the position last year. Now cornerback is a different story. They have already brought in Daryl Porter Jr from West Virginia and coaches are saying Al Blades Jr is looking good coming back from his medical absence, so there should be added depth and competition at the cornerback position already. #GOCANES 🙌

Uninspiring choice for DC, Miami will get rolled and the defense won't be ranked in the top 50 nationally.

Then you don't know much about a Kevin Steele, his background and his defense. Just think about the teams and coaches he has been hired by and coached under: Johnny Majors, Tom Osborne, Bobby Bowden, Nick Saban, Dabo Sweeny, Les Miles, Gus Malzahn, Dom Capers. To coach at Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, LSU, FSU.
Go look up the rankings.....actually I did it for you.
In the 11 years Kevin Steele has been a DC (2007-8 Alabama, 2009-11 Clemson, 2015 LSU, 2016-20 Auburn)....his defense has ranked in the top 40 scoring defense 10 of the 11 years. Top 15 scoring D in 5 of the 11 years. His defense has been ranked in the top 40 in total defense 8 of the 11 years.
This is an experienced coach and along with coach Strong, Salave'a, Addae, make for a HUGE upgrade to the Miami coaching staff.

@@scottfowler8558 You just made my point, all your pontificating means they hired a slightly above average coach. There was virtually no market for coach Steele, Miami wasn't fighting off a variety of suitors. Let's revisit this at the end of the season. A 40th ranked defense should put Miami around 6 or 7 wins and possibly be bowl eligible. Mario gets 3 additional years before they realize he is Scott Frost Part 2 and Miami is fking irrelevant in the current landscape
