I love this song...I think as Christians we should not care about technicalities; the Pharisees were a religious Sect that did too much of that and never produced anything for the Kingdom of Heaven...Crystal Lewis has touched thousands of lives through her God given talent!!!
Thank you so much for blessing us with this. My testimony happened the year before this concert. My husband was being excommunicated by the religious organisation he was in that claimed to be Christians. They had taught us that lively worship was sinful because it was detracting the attention from God and onto the musicians too much. All their songs were sombre and about death at Armageddon to all wicked mankind and sung in very miserable melodies called Kingdom Melodies. My husband was cut off from his family due to excommunication. We had just lost a baby and I had been given 12 hours to live as I had refused a blood transfusion, yet I survived. He believed God was punishing him during this. We were both very depressed. Just as I got out of hospital his housemate invited us to his church. We walked in and I saw them singing a very upbeat version of Shine Jesus Shine and people were throwing their hands up in the air in praise, which I had never seen done before (I was raised Catholic with hands always together before attending Jehovah's Witnesses with my husband and heads always down). The men in the front row fell on their knees during the song and with hands lifted high, shouted "Jesus!" I was so uplifted and thought "Wow! This is what we need!" They took me out the back for prayer and spoke in tongues, which did frighten me a little. Then it was explained to me by the leader that "There is a big black cloud between me and God. Go and get your husband." I had thought this meant my sins as I did not understand GRACE. I went to get him, but when I said they were speaking in tongues, he was afraid and commanded me to leave with him and get home as this was demonic according to his teachings. Years after his death, and finally away from the cult teachings, I was spoken to properly about what GRACE is and it is exactly what is in that song. The Big Black Cloud, was not sin, it was the Jehovah's Witness teachings clouding out grace. They keep us in that darkness and depression. Shine Jesus Shine, Fill this land with your grace and mercy! Let us dance like King David did and rejoice that Christ forgave us the moment we asked. Coincidentally, Crystal, I gave birth to my first healthy child while you were singing this concert apparently. Thank you Lord Jesus! I never forget the one I lost, and I know they are dancing in heaven with the Lord to this song! I came across this video a few weeks ago and couldn't stop dancing to it all week. It was the anniversary of when I had lost our first child and I danced like mad, feeling a rebellion towards the evil we had been under at that time, regarding grace and enjoying worship. The gospel choir I had joined told us last minute that the wedding we were singing in on that Saturday of that same week, had last minute decided to include guess what song.... Boy did I belt it out! God had me practising to this before I even knew and we only got one practise together 2 days beforehand. Amazing!
