I didn't talk about my BRS Barebones in the video (I... don't really like it at all) but hope you guys enjoyed! I hope in the future I'll finally be able to get my hands on a zephyr but I'll aim small first and get a Vulp when it's available for me B)
I heard that the barebones isn’t great. I have a replicant and I like it a lot except to get a trainer version (assuming you can’t buy a live blade) you’d have to buy a whole knifes worth of 3rd party mods
NOOO NOT THE FIIO!! Fantastic job on this whole thing, very informative and full of great tips!! I really hope this can get even more people into this awesome hobby!
@@tokaku lol, im from nz so it's illegal here as well, but I remember one time someone brought this extremely sharp one to school that he got from his "uncle" up the coast
NO WAY YOU FLIP TOO?!?! I've been flipping for about a year and a half now, learned a ton of tricks from big flips and will hirsch, genuinely my favorite hobby
Been flipping for ~3 years and overall, and I'd say this is a great overview! There's a lot to know about when starting, and covering stuff like maintenance and pivot systems are really important for new people to know about. One thing I'd also mention is that Teflon taping your bali is a great alternative to Loctiting. Also, never, never, never buy cheap Amazon balis, lol. For people getting into the hobby, Big Flips and Will Hirsch are great informational channels, and some brands to check out are Squid Industries, Machinewise (specifically the Prysma for trainers), Glidr, and NRB Concepts. Also, carbon honey and kpl stay on top (sorry canto)
There's something about tkk being a rhythm gamer that gives this even MORE incredible BDE. I can't even do lightsaber tricks without giving myself huge leg bruises and mild concussions, so I definitely do not have the courage for this
I got my first trainer in 2020 from amazon and went through 2 of them! (and stopped flipping for a while) don't recommend them at all but hoping to get a good balisong trainer in the future. and this hobby was perfect for me alongside playing rhythm games, thanks tokaku!
I just discovered this video. As a child I had a very small balisong and liked to practice tricks with it before I even knew it was a “thing”. To this very day, I’m still always trying out tricks whenever I’m using tools like a hammer or pincers or even everyday stuff like keys on a keychain. I never knew there were things such as a blunt training balisong. Thank you for this video. I just ordered my first training balisong and I went for the Nabalis Vulp after seeing this video and looking at some of Will’s video’s. Can’t wait to practice!
wow, I would have never guessed that you would learn a hobby that is so close to my heart! I watched your channel because of the rythm games, but i am very happy to see this hobby grow! Thank you!
I think I remember a while back when I started to get into flipping seeing a Not Tokaku vid with a balisong (don’t remember if the vid was about balisongs or just had one in it). It’s cool to see you’re still flipping and I hope you have fun getting more into the hobby.
Oh lord, I already do skill toys wit Yo-Yos and Kendama but my Filipino heritage is calling me to try Balisong Flipping 😩 Awesome video, I might give it a shot with how accessible you make the hobby with this video.
The fact that you name TF2 is amazing. That game is +15 years old (+doesn't get an meaningful update for more than 4 years, almost 5 years) and still kick-ass to other 1st person shooter like... Overwatch?
i just bought a $3.5 trainer and to my surprise it didnt have any of the issues mentioned for the $20 ones off ali express, this video is the first thing that came to my mind the moment i my order arrived so thank you tokaku
Your unboxing of the nautilus actually brought me to will hershy through autoplay where i eventually convinced myself to buy my squiddy. So in a long way you also were an inspiration to get me into balisong flipping
I never learned how to flip, my first balisong was a kris blade with two edges. Which for me is the advantage of a balisong, you can conceal a dagger and use both hands to deploy it pretty quickly.
super stoked to see this hobby picking up steam lately. i got my first trainer 3~ years ago and i still flip today. i suck, but i picked up a live blade and only have a few minor scrapes. good shit!
This is very exciting! I hope this will get some new people interested in the hobby and expand this very small community! Super awesome video tokaku! 22:40 That's really funny! I did the exact same thing! I created a website just to make that process easier for myself.
I'm in my second month of flipping, and I've got myself a Vulp and a Prysma. both are exceptional flippers, and I think I'd learned the double rollout totally on accident when opening into fans, then closing. my plans are to next save up for a good titanium made one, especially since Im friends with an anodizer.
Thanks for the video. I've been interested in balisong flipping for awhile but I was never convinced by those cheap amazon knives. I'll keep an eye out for the vulp because it sounds interesting.
I actually bought a couple cheap training balisongs after seeing that your video got taken down for it lol. Both the tang pins fell out after a couple days, so I've just been flipping without them
just got a trainer balisong from aliexpress. metal, with a comb (not a good comb lol) heavy, my first balisong. its seems like it might be balanced enough to learn on. has the oily rainbow look thanks for the guidance!
Your video pushed me over the edge and got me into balisong flipping! Any plans to make more balisong vids? Also, have you gotten any new balisongs lately? It looks like it's getting a lot harder to import them into Singapore.
Wow I envy your confidence, being able to flip a balisong without having any fear on harming yourself is something that i want. Edit: Nevermind, I thought you moved on from the balisong trainer and were using an actual balisong lol.
Flipping live blades does take a level of confidence, but it's basically just knowing the basics and having good habits and you should be fine, even with little experience
You have really good flow for a beginner and imo thats the most important thing it doesn't matter how crazy technical the trick is if it's sloppy it looks baddd lmaoo
I went to a friend's house some years ago and he had a real butterfly knife, I never tried one. Immediately started doing tricks, not anything fancy just the double roll out cause it's basic and I handled it safely so no cuts.
Hey Tokaku, just wondering if you could please post that spreadsheet for viewing. I don't want to make my own, (I'm lazy) and yours seemed like it would be helpful with what appears to be links to videos of each trick. Great Video btw, I got into flipping recently and picked up a mako because it was the cheapest (of course it's the one you mentioned is not great for beginners) but i've been loving flipping, it really is a fun hobby.
saw this video and wanted to get into the hobby. Asked my mum to get me a trainer but she said "get a cheap one on amazon" I tried to explain to her that i needed a decent one but ened up going with the Vornex Its not that bad actually, nicely balanced but it taps. You also can't tighten the screws on it. It was only around £10 though. Hopefully if i can show my mum im serious about learning it, she will let me get a better one
wow i didnt even know this was a hobby that existed but this is an entertaining watch i like that some of these blades have litlte faces on them. they are little guys. like the cat and things with noses and the shark and other silly fishies

Can you please release that spreadsheet with the tricks you learned so we can make a copy and progress on paper too?
Could be wrong but I don't think Svix ships internationally.
