Love you finally got to this track! I love the Cult and this song absolutely ROCKS! Do the Live Munich show next! This version is like a long mix studio version. You will love the live bit bro! Another Great Reaction once again Harri. Thank You.
This was my last selection by the Cult. Previously Harri has reacted to "Fire Woman", "She Sells Sanctuary" and "Love Removal Machine" which were also selected by me. Harri digs Astbury and his antics on stage; he's quite the showman and possesses that stage presence. Glad you enjoyed this gem by the Cult - thanks.
One of my favorites EVER. Saw live in Feb 1990. A hidden gem on Electric and one of my fave rock n roll songs ever is "King Contrary Man" about the Devil and the Crossroads myth. AMAZING guitar, and an all time great lyric: "Zany antics of a beat generation, in their wild search for kicks, fighting, drinkin', scorning convention, making wild love, making wild love."
From their 1985 album, " Love," this was their follow up song to She Sells Sanctuary. The song's pounding beat and the explosive introductory guitar riff gives way to a melodic voice that seems like an afterthought. Followed by the infectious chorus, a great melody sound that was ahead of it's time and represented a ground breaking change in the Rock music scene. The Cult definitely offers a great time with vocals that are incredible. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Neal. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Yay, The Cult!! This is their early stuff, it's so good. Another great early song is Rain. Love Removal Machine is a great one also, it's more hard and rocking. Sweet Soul Sister is still rocking but a bit more soulful.
Written by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy. Lead singer and guitarist. Only constants. Jamie Stewart was on bass guitar 🎸. He ledt after the tour for Sonic Temple 🕍. Classic Cult song 🎵 👌. This is the re-mix version. This song becomes the foundation for their song Fire Woman 👩
They were here in Victoria BC about 8 or so years ago. They stayed in a hotel were I was security and they were the most down to earth regular guys. Was cool. Billy Duffy asked if he could have a room for his guitar. Which of course I accommodated.
I was in boot camp in 1989, and we only got a couple calls home the whole time. One of my calls, I asked my sister to put Love, the album this song is on, up to the phone, and listened until I got kicked off the phone! True story.
Huge fan of The Cult since 1985. If you like Billy Duffy’s nasty riffs on this, you simply must react to Phoenix off the same album (Love)… Thanks for this!!!
@mikeferguson5935 Glad you liked it. I opted for the extended version for its length and quality. Check out Harri's reactions to Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary and Love Removal Machine.
YOU SHOULD SEE THE UNEDITED MUSIC VIDEO😍 IT IS A PSYCHEDELIC VISUAL DELIGHT😍 THEY HAVE NEVER STOPPED TOURING AND MAKING NEW MUSIC. THEIR NEW ALBUM "UNDER THE MIDNIGHT SUN" WAS RELEASED LAST YEAR AND THEY JUST FINISHED THEIR VERY SUCCESSFUL DEATH CULT TOUR IN THE UK. FORTY YEARS OF FABULOUS❣️
Not keen on this remix, the original album version is tight and compact and just flows better than this version. Agree with the others regarding the live version,it’s banging.
Nice high definition picture. New camera no doubt. This version of Rain is remixed and is awful compared to the original. This was the first song I learned on the bass. Happy memories. Have a listen to the original which has less drums, is better orchestrated and has real punch. Their Goth video version is pretty awesome and features the Anadin Brothers (Not what you think)
@@pncombies Okay. The Cult intended what they produced and released. Anything else done by a third party is, by definition, not what they intended. Your desire to try and be oppositional to a fact is amusing.
Most overlooked band in history
First time hearing this version...... still digging it! The entire Love album is incredible!
More Cult, please! They're amazing.
@whome1299
Please check out Harri's reactions to my other 3 Cult selections: Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary and Love Removal Machine. Thanks!

You're welcome, Mary - my pleasure!
Love that you chose the remix version, they really made my younger ears vibrate. They were so fresh and different, what a band!
With that voice this guy could just sing gibberish and I would still LOVE it !!!!
Thanks Neal, love it. My grandson asks me why I always play "lullaby music " I'll have to play this the next time he's in the car. 😂

Nice, we need More Cult! Do Sweet Soul Sister off of Sonic Temple, another absolutely killer track. Rock On! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
They've got a lot of good songs.
Wild Hearted Son is a great song and shows off Ian’s great stage presence.
Also, Ciao Baby.
Great song love the beat and flow of this tune. Voice, guitar, drums.
Been a big The Cult fan since MTV .

Phoenix might be my favorite song of theirs. So many to choose from. Great band.
Mark Brzezicki on drums....aka Big country......procul Harum 2006.....Denmark.....the very same .....class is class....
This is not the album version. But, omg, I have never heard this version and it is awesome.

One more comment.
Ian used tour as the singer for the Doors.
Let that sink in.
Old cult fan❤
Think this remix was from the manor sessions. Got the box set on cd, it is amazing
Check out That's the way things are by Rubicon. The sax man used to play for Sly and the Family Stone
Southern Death Cult - Moya.
When Ian was young
Had not heard this mix before..
This is a remix. Not the original album cut. Sure about that.
Hi Harri. Have you done Sweet Soul Sister by these guys yet? Banger!
#CFFC 🤟😈🔥
You need to do some more songs off this album that not everyone has done . May I suggest Judith and little face .
This is a remix but it’s awesome
Next Cult song….RESURRECTION JOE

You have reacted to a remix. This is not what the Cult intended. The original is more raw.
@claimguy Is that so? Did Duffy and Astbury consult with you before recording it?
