Criminally underrated band, I love Ian Astbury with his long dark hair, and great voice, and Billy Duffy's a brilliant guitarist, together they created some of the best rock songs that ever came out of the 80s!! I have all the albums. Big love for The Cult!
I agree with you. I love Ian's long black hair too and I love his dance moves. Billy and Jamie are guitar gods. The drummer is outstanding too. They are definitely the best band from the 80's era.
@@nancycoffman5707 Billy Duffy is a guitar god but Jamie Stuart was crap on the bass. I say this as a bassist. His basslines were beyond simple but do work for the songs he played. The Cult are one of my favourite bands btw.
Not enough is said about the tasty licks of Billy Duffy. Such a tasteful, minimalist but kick ass rocker. He picked the perfect notes to drive and texture the song. As a guitarist I am in awe of the combo of his raw rocking-ness and effortless tasteful texturing around the melody.
Ian Astbury in my book is way up there as one of the iconic frontmen of 80’s hard rock. Dark, mysterious, sexy, exuberant and has the voice of an angel…the full package. Marilyn Manson based his look off him I think
Music has lost its way in the world there’s nothing that comes even close to the brilliance of this sound music now is bland uncreative and very rehearsed nothing about it that you can follow and want to hear I want to thank these guys for making these songs and making our lives a little bit more enjoyable God Bless you guys ✝️🤘🎸🎚🇬🇧😘🙏🏻💞✝️🙏🏻😘🎸🤘✝️💕
I was 18, some little band called guns n roses opened for the Cult in Winnipeg in 1986. Nobody paid attention to GNR, The Cult were doing their “Electric” tour. Fantastic pivot from the sound of the “Love” album. Both were awesome
I was 20 in 1984. As 60's 70's rock kid I never liked the new wave stuff and I hated the hair metal crap and these guys were the breath of fresh air. What an original kick ass band they still are.

His session work discography is really lengthy actually. I'm a huge fan of him.

This was the appearance which prompted Steve Wright to comment "And they wear those clothes on the street, too" after it was finished. An excellent TOTP moment, prompted by a band who were firing on all cylinders in terms of music, concepts and image.
Born in 86' myself, but always had a fascination with 80s music and societal culture. Everything seemed so varied from sounds to fashion. A unique decade for sure.
I love this one. Ian's belief that rock performers should be peacocks and that rock is supposed to be played from the waist down really helped make this band great and Duffy, of course. Jaime always smiling... I love todays harder edge Ian but soft Ian is beautiful.
I love both the before Rick Rubin Cult and the after Rick Rubin Cult. Electric is my favorite album. The way he strpped the glam (which I loved btw) and brought out these masters of hard rock! Electric is on my desert island list. Love the Cult

My friend went to school with Ian! Must be something in the water at their school, he was a singer/guitarist in a band, doing more accpustic now!

One of the most underrated bands ever. The Cult is amazing.
Fuck yeah mate, was my music leaving skool, 1985 ,year 11🍻🍻🍻
Never got to see them in the 80s but did just a couple of years ago...totally underrated...
I'm not sure why they weren't a huge band. Very cool sound. One of my fave bands.
I have all their albums & rarities... they are the music for me..
That’s because they’re really a duo.
I still remember buying this album. "Love" is one of the finest 1980's albums.
My favorite album of all time
Yo recuerdo la primera vez que lo escuché.
Bring back the eighties. Awesome song.

I saw the same year in Finland. Duffy's guitar is for real one of the most needed to support the Ian:s overwhelming voice.
Guns and roses played with the Cult in Guelph as well at a small bar called the Trasheteria. Its a dump of a bar too.
Saw The Cult back in the day. Love them!! What a great time to grow up in.. Thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
So did I when this came out. Yes, memorable time.

Me too, I love the Cult.
Same here
The Cult were truly amazing. After the party was over, Astbury re-created Jim Morrison's role in The Doors and was incredibly good. Total respect.

Hot sticky scenes
You know what I mean
Like a desert sun
That burns my skin
I've been waiting
For her for so long
Open the sky
And let her come down
Here comes the rain
Here comes the rain
Here she comes again
Here comes the rain
Hot sticky scenes
She know what I mean
Like a desert sun
That burns my skin, skin, skin
I've been waiting
For her for so long
Open the sky
And let her come down
Here comes the rain
Here comes the rain
Here she comes again
Here comes the rain
I love the rain
I love the rain
Here she comes again
Here comes the rain
Oh, rain

I love the rain

Here she comes again

This is the first time I have seen this video and I love it. Another fantastic performance by Ian, Billy, Jamie and the drummer!!
Drummer is from the band Big Country . Gave them a great sound for that album
The drummer is Mark Brzezicki, I seem to remember he stood in for some bands around this time period, however he was the drummer for Big Country.
