This is guy is so right about not needing high horsepower to have fun. Most people these days engine swap old cars with more modern engine to get more horsepower. Which is fine, its their car, their choice. But its just so fun to drive a car you can go full throttle on but at the same time not break the speed limit and to listen to that N/A engine. Now thats is the best sound in a car you can get.
Last year at a huge family gathering, a very distant relative I had never met before had a red 65 convertible 289w mustang which I couldn't take my eyes off. At the end of the day he dropped the keys in my hand and told me to go have fun, even his credit card in case it needed filling up. Will never forget.
I had a 66 GT Convertible, was a one owner car. I enjoyed it. And everywhere you go people want to tell you their own Mustang story. Brings back so many good memories for so many people.
Great video. My first car upon graduation from HS was a 1966 Mustang HT with a 289 4barrel. It was pure heaven. Nothing today can come close to the pure driving pleasure for the price. It was so basic without all the needless bells and whistles of today’s cars. Long live this car.
I'm looking at a 66 convertible and just stumbled across the video. When I hear the engine it almost brings a tear to my eye. I've wanted one since I was a little girl. 40 years later I'm closer to owning one.
I just fell in love. There is something different going out from this video. Like the atmosphere and relationship is more real between the owner and the Mustang. It is not just another toy for him. But the very one.
Thank you petrolicious for these amazing videos. These are the jewels of RUclips. The filming, composition, content is all on spot. I appreciate the effort you guys put into these!
These are my favourite Petrolicious videos by far. The videos featuring guys with multimillion dollar collections are amazing, but I love these videos where the car's owned by an average person with a 9-5 job, but a badass car in the garage.
What a great perspective Gregg Stanley has with his pony car! The fact that he has the whole back story of the previous owners, the documentation as well is just an added bonus to the hobby.
The first minutes explained perfectly why engines will always live. EVs will not be the only type of vehicles to roam this planet, but gearheads like us need the eargasm/drama that comes from internal combustion engines. This is why so many of us restore muscle cars, they are timeless in and out. I'm 30 years of age, I do enjoy newer cars; their abilities and features, but no EV compares to the sound of mechanical V8s. Whether they're N/A or forced induction; the purity of the mechanical engine building power under load, even at low speeds going through gears, just gets your juices flowing and skin shivering. It's a form of a dopamine hit every time you accelerate. Just like some enjoy having smartwatches and digital watches, others like hand-winding/self-winding mechanical timepieces, which are still made till this day, even though we do not need them to tell time. Most of us use our phones. But this goes to show that ICE vehicles aren't going anywhere.
The mustang is such a fantastic car but one of my favorite parts is how it’s almost a blank canvas of a car, you can keep it beautiful and original or you can drop in engines of various caliber or set it on an extremely good suspension setup and gut the thing out. It’s probably one of the cars with the largest aftermarket industry so you can completely personalize it.
That exhaust sounds better than any modern muffler on the road today, so sexy. I also liked the mini-movie at the end with his wife on a picnic, what a great way to enjoy a nice summer's day with your woman and your car. Long live the third pedal.
amazing thing. i wish i could one day af-ford (oh yeah) one of these here in germany. i'm 24 now and have loved both the looks and the sound of those old american horses since my early days. Love the historic part about this car story.
You're still young, there's plenty of time! I think it would be pretty cool to see more American cars in Europe. I know they don't compare sometimes in terms of quality or performance to their German or Italian counterparts, but it's still cool to see people from all over the world enjoy them since they're pretty niche to american roads.
Hey it's Greg...from the video:) My first car was a Mustang I bought for $1,000 and it was a six cylinder coupe with zero options. It took me 20 years to get this one but it was worth the wait...you'll get there!
Those first generation mustangs are becoming a rolling piece of history. I love the idea of the owner history book. Having the original window sticker and knowing who has owned the car for the past 52 years, when they owned it, and all the work done on it over the last half century, really adds depth to the story behind the car. Need to get to work building one for my 65 mustang!
Just an update on my Mustang. Two weeks ago I received an email with the subject line "Mustang for sale?" It was from the grandson of the owner who bought it in 1967! He's based in Afghanistan and he wants to buy it back for his three kids who are all under five. Needs less to say...it is going back home in a few weeks! He had not seen the video yet which he loved.
Interesting what he says about older cars having more drama even if they're slower. There definitely is an element of that for all older cars, but the thing to remember is that most cars people say that stuff about were performance cars in their day, so they had that drama designed into them. You can't compare a honda odyssey's drama to this, but it would be much closer to an equivalent family car of the time. Similarly the drama of a new Mustang (although still lacking something compared to the original) would be much closer to this than the odyssey.
cherrypieforever ahh but back then they had cars like the Porshe 930 and Carol Shelby Mustangs that could be bought the night before and raced the next day.
I’m a 28yr old female living out in LA and my dream is to own a classic vehicle!! Preferably a 66 Ford Mustang or any hard body sport drop top with good bones.. I just think it’s so fly and really speaks to who I am - I truly believe I was born in the wrong generation; I’M GOING TO STAY ON MY SEARCH! Thank you for sharing your love for this ride it definitely seemed like a vibe - I felt like I was there on the road with you lol ALL LOVE & CHEERS TO TIMELESSNESS ✨
love your mustang! Im a collector and classic car fanatic myself to. I have a 70 mustang fastback its from CA but I havent found the first owner yet. I did found the first owner of my 240Z in Kansas.. just by luck writing a letter ( Im from Europe ). Its great to find the history of the car I agree.
Thanks for this very well made video! It really seems Greg appreciates and enjoys his beautiful car and I do understand him! I was watching this clip countless times while waiting some 8 months for my Mustang to arrive in Austria from Ohio. It's a 1965 Mustang Convertible A-Code in Maroon red with black and white interior and manual gearbox. And i love watching it and driving it is something like a therapy session. I forget everything else and there's just me, the road, the landscape, the sound and feeling of the engine and this wide bonnet. What else do you need for being happy?...
Wish these brought in more views for y'all, as these videos certainly deserve it. Great car, great owner, great story, and great work as always. Cheers!
To this date, it is still my favorite classic car. I know there are a lot of beautiful classic cars like the DB5 or maybe the original Porsche 911, but for me this car has the soul and looks that no other classic car will ever have.
Thanks all for the kind comments! Sean Fannin is the maestro that created this video. For more automotive fun stuff, check out my new RUclips channel called “Revved Up Motors”. I post a new video every two weeks and the next one is “What’s the Best Car for Valentine’s Day?” A Zombie Apocalypse one will be posted on 3/1:)
Auto cars are really nice for daily driving though. I think everyone should have a manual for fun and an auto for daily driving but not everyone can afford it nor wants to do that sadly
@@Aquablue62 I agree. My first car after getting my driver's license was a 1986 Toyota MR2. It was a 2 occupant runabout. It had a 5spd manual gearbox.
right on about driving an old car...I don't know that i would call it 'drama'...more like 'engaged'. I have a '70 Mach 1 , Cleveland, 4speed, no power steering. does have power discs tho. You are *involved* when driving it. so much more satisfying to really *drive* your car and not just sit in it. the radio doesn't work and that's cool. great vid and owner. beautiful Mustang. thx for sharing
I've always loved the 1964-66 Ford Mustang. Both the coupe and convertible. While the Shelby Mustang may be more appreciated and has more performance and the GT models may be more fun to drive. I like the standard Mustang. My sister-in-law had one back in the 70s and 80s. My favourite here is the circular gauge cluster. While I've always loved horizontal speedometers, I also appreciate proper needle gauges over warning lights.
I have a red 66 Mustang convertible (3 speed auto). It grunts and growls and sounds just like his. It has the original radio, but I've never turned it on.
How can I get ahold of you to maybe help me decode my 1966 Mustang. The know how. Does your book that you have created on your car go through the details. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks DaveT.
And I destroyed my 64 1/2 when I was only 16. Yeap what a 1st degree murder! But it was too much of a car for a misfit such as me... Sorry Pony lovers! But I am a repented sinner!
an ev of classic vintage convertible cars would be wow ❤😊☺️🙏👍 a self driving, self parking ev - looks just like the vintage classic pathway would be ❤☺️🙏😀❤😊❤ i am biase hehe
I wish our 1966 Mustang was still good as this one. I'll save money and restore her back to the original and her running again. But I dont know what code she is.. Vintage love from the Philippines :)

2 years ago on a team building day we drove a french 40 year old 2CV with 29 HP. We floored it, made a lot of noise and still remembering it.

I love to see Petrolicious doing more features on American cars. Bravo!
What a joy to remember these from my college days. You're right in that today's cars don't provide the thrill of older cars. Thanks for sharing.

Roger Flanagan this !!

sounds like flowmaster chambered mufflers, got a pair on my 89 302 mustang. I agree, some of the best sounds ever!
Had to whats it twice. couldnt pay attention on what the owner was saying the first time because i was just staring at my dream car. Beautiful car.

This is the definition of a beautifully made review! Well done chaps, keep em coming!!
"DRAMA AND STYLE" best description of a classic car
Beautiful story, you have 2 great gals there! The sound is divine!
One of the best Mustang videos. Awesome photography and content, the engine sound from 04:10 to 04:30, wow!. All the best for Petrolicious team.
The most beautiful and emotional mustang video I watched. It’s not just about the engine, it’s about loving this car 💯

What a gorgeous car. And what an orgasmic exhaust note.
And once again, a fantastic film. You guys are truly the very best at these.
Spit window corvettes and first generation mustangs are in my view the most attractive American cars ever made.
Great tastes in cars, sir ! I would add the first generation T-Bird.
I'd say there are a great many. Detroit put out alot of beauties.
Marc Scordato no El Camino?
Marc Scordato 1957 Cadillac was my favorite!
I like the C5 Corvette Z06.

Amazing Video!!! Your comment about "point A to point B" drivers is on point, I say that all of the time. Love the car!!
The wood paneling, and chrome, the v8, and the boaty handeling, thats what I love about 60s and 70s american muscle cars

This video by petrolicious, is so well done as always. It really is audiovisual poetry of automobiles.
That's a great vintage car, and a wonderful story behind it.
Definitely agree with everything he said... especially the part with the autonomous cars coming. That is the essence: to drive with fun
Glad I kept dads '65 convertible.
It's been great fun during our short summers.
Classic petrolicious style!
This is my dream car I would give anything to have one of these

Very well done guys!
When I think about totally autonomous cars coming out, I cringe. I like to have *some* control over what the car does.

Nice car. RUclips recommended that I re-watch Roadkill's Junkyard Disgustang... I think I will oblige.
Absolutely beautiful
I wish there was more videos like this! Great job
beautiful video!
Great car & great video! Love it.
Very beautiful video
That was trippy. As the video was starting I was thinking: Mustang, 60's, ah simpler times. And then he says it.
Documentary Was Done Very Well Thx. My First Car Was A 1966 , 289 ,Black 3 Speed. In Ohio
another great video!
Ce cabriolet est vraiment d'une très grande beauté.
