      It took me a few years listening to the original album track before I realised the difference, then it took me ages to realise where that first few seconds came from, then listening one day I heard it during Yoda and the force, can't believe how many times i'd listened to that track and not heard it...🤔🤔🤔

      I think it's because Lucas added the shots of the Rebel fleet a couple weeks before the movie premiered. Originally it cut from the Falcon's escape from Vader to the closeup of the window of the medical freighter where Luke and Leia were.

      Yes the end title's theme always felt like it was missing something from the album which of course was the brilliant use of the "Yoda and the force cue"! It was perfectly used to begin the end title's theme in the film!

A film about the moon landing wouldn't be science-fiction, it would be a historical (or historical fiction if you don't believe they happened). What makes something science fiction is when the plot or setting involve theoretical or unrealistic elements of science. Like hyperspace or bacta tanks, droid armies, etc...

    You can certainly hear the difference in instrumentation between this and the soundtrack version. The transition between Yoda's theme and the Imperial March is much more smoother here than on the soundtrack, and the piccolos are also far more pronounced in the movie version. Although both are great I'd certainly prefer this version.

    • @saquist
      @saquist Год назад +22

      Exactly. I'm 44 years old and I love the Yoda theme transition to the imperial march in the original end credit cut but when they made the special editions they extended the imperial march and changed the arrangement of the transition from Yoda's theme....But in my head I always hear the original version. When I was a kid this music was special. I was too young to know where to get a soundtrack on tape from...I just replayed the ending of the movie over and over again. And hearing a mastered version on tape where all the tones whisper under the horns was a delight as no tv back then could do it justice. This version is with me forever.

Thank you George Lucas & John Williams.

    I can't express how this score fills the heart with joy: starting out as defeat, and majestically rising and swelling in magnificence, until you truly can feel the hope that, despite the despair at this moment, there is still a great hope that if good people fight on, all will be set right.
    Every time I hear this at the end of the film, tears and emotion, and a good feeling, just arises in my soul. The only music from the franchise on its' level that get me this much (the other "Top 5"), are Anakin's death theme (with the single simple piano notes), Dual Of The Fates, and Vader and the Emperor's Themes.

    This is one of the truly great end titles in movies, for reasons too obvious to state here. I did notice a similarity in Williams' music for the final scene itself with Korngold's music for the final scene in 'The Adventures Or Robin Hood'. I mean the way the Force Theme is used with the love theme for Leia and Han. This mirrors how the Richard The Lionheart and the Robin and Marion themes are used by Korngold. I imagine this is Williams again making a clear nod to the influence of Korngold on the Star Wars scores.

    And there it stayed for the next 3 years. Was Vader really Luke's father? What was going to happen to Han Solo? Well, you're just going to have to wait until 1983 to find out. This was back when Hollywood knew how to make a good movie.

    I've always wondered what would have happened had Harrison Ford opted NOT to return for Episode VI? Would Han have been recast? Killed off inside the Carbonite? Originally there was supposed to be a love triangle between Luke, Leia and Han, with Luke winning in the end. Here I'm guessing Han dying would let this happen.

    • @richardlong6789
      @richardlong6789  2 года назад +5

      The main reason Han was cast in carbonite was because Ford wouldn't commit to another sequel and it would have been easier to kill Han off if Ford didn't return.

    • @white-dragon4424
      @white-dragon4424 2 года назад +1

      Originally, Han was going to die and Leia would've also left the story, leaving Luke to go off in search of his sister. So no, in none of the versions Luke would've got Leia.

      @@white-dragon4424 Ah but there is very vague detail about the next trilogy except he would find his sister Nellith and the Emperor without Vader would be the main baddie and actually revealed. Who knows what Leia's involvement would have been?

      @@steveandjeanniefrith236 From what Gary Kurtz said, Leia would've left the story in order to lead the remains of the people of Alderaan, the ones who were off world when the planet was destroyed. Seeing that her arc was finished when Han was killed, I see that conclusion to be quite believable. Thing is, originally, Luke was envisioned as a sort of "James Bond" type of character. He'd be the only constant character to survive through the movies, with other characters being expendable plot devices to move the story along, including Han and Leia. I can see Han and Leia as being the tragic romantic subplot, with Luke's journey being the main plot. It'd be the "Adventures of Luke Skywalker", if you will, with characters coming and going or being killed off, just like Biggs in ANH.
      From what Kurtz said, the original ST would've continued straight after the events of the original plot for ROTJ, with a young Luke becoming a Jedi and going in search of Nellith, which is far more appealing than what we eventually got, a Frankenstein's Monster ST made up of discarded bits and pieces from the OT and originally planned ST.
      BTW: Just listen to Han and Leia's love theme, especially during the Falcon's departure. If you can imagine the original ROTJ plot I've described whilst listening to the music you can feel the tragic romance running right through it!

      lando would have taken his place in episode 6, hence his much bigger role in that movie, in case harrison never came back. Luke was never going to get with leia, he was always going to stay single and stay a lone ranger out in the galaxy, his sister was going to be revealed in episode 7-8-9.
