Hello Tian Jay. Great to hear an Aussie doing gear reviews. You have certainly made this into a very useful music tool. The AC/DC rhythm & lead sound epic. Great guitar playing! Especially on Cult of Personality!!! You’ve been playing that for a long time. I am looking to set one up for my daughter who needs a simple battery operated pedal for acoustic guitar effects while busking into a battery PA speaker. Do you think I’d be able to tweak some decent acoustic guitar sounds out of this thing? Thanks, Mark.
Hi Mark, thanks for the great feedback! Yes, this would be great for acoustic guitar, although you’d probably bypass the amp simulation altogether and just use it for the on-board effects and set up a bunch of presets, four of which she could access instantly and then have other banks of different effects if she wanted but I would say for acoustic, having a pallate of basic effects like reverb, delay, chorus would be mostly what she would need. She could also access the tuner, which would be handy.
Sound great. Nice custom presets. I have found this unit to be a bit difficult to dial in, especially on the high gain side where it is either too bright or honky or too boomy. And the IRs once loaded don't reall sound as good as the original IR in a DAW.. I guess that's the price of fitting so many functions into a very tight hardware, they have to optimize the algorithms and the audio resolution suffers.I also get pretty noticeable digital clipping with some of my guitars. But as a backup or beginner unit it is fine as long as you are ready to load external presets and IRs.
Love the Tank G. Only thing i haven't fully dialed in is a good OD sound. Got a great clean and a great distortion and lead, but the new ANN modeling capabilities should help with changing amp models that aren't great.
Tian thank you so much. I will use these on stage and will let you know how I go. STAY SAFE (ps. I am looking for a VOX AC30 CLEAN, BOOST ETC... if you come across a preset you like please share).
By the way the IR aliasing may be due to the IR level set too high when loading the IR in the unit. I had the same issue of the IR actually clipping the signal. But I have no solution for the relativelly high noise when going direct. But straight to power sound really good !
Unfortunately i tried everything, different levels, sample rates and ir’s from different 3rd party providers but all sounded bad through the DAW. No problem through my power amp though.
After playing with their capture tool to profile my Engl preamp, I found that the amp captures are actually quite good when going to a real power amp + cab but not great through IRs (a lot of weird high end and spike s in transients). I guess their IR module is not the best. But after trying a whole lot of IRs, some work acceptably well. Seem that the darker IRs work better in this unit. They should add a low and high pass filter for the IR block that can be adjusted in softwate.. That would certainly help.
I've had success by miccing my amp, capturing that and then going direct into my DAW. That way I leave the IR section disabled as my amp model includes my cab. Sounds awesome into the PC or a full range speaker
Is it midi controllable from DAW for example? Does it has midi interface... Can't find nothing about it in internet... Btw i'm using my boss gt-10 as FX pedalboard through midi, after watching your old videos about boss gt-10. It fully controllable from DAW for live sessions. Glad to see you again!
Does this pedal board have the function to drop the tuning for playing songs by bands like Guns N' Roses, similar to what the 'Pedal Drop Efeito Pitch Shifter Digitech' pedal does?
Thanks for your reviews. I would like to ask your advice please. I have a gt-8 . Do you think the tank g is an upgrade to the boss gt8 or should i stick with the gt8?
I think the ability to use 3rd party cabinet responses in the TankG makes for better amp sounds but the FX are obviously limited. For the money, you could get a TankG and use it in conjunction with the GT8 and then you’d have the best of both worlds.. even if you ONLY use it for Cabinets..
I think YT mustn't like links to zip files as it probably thinks it's malicious. I've changed the directory, new link in the description, see how that works for you.
Hello! For the overdrive, heavy and heavy lead, I'm just wondering why there's barely any distortion? I followed everything in the instructions including the Marshall Checkerboard thing, the IR cab set to 1, IR lv set to 30, and the same amp settings. Thanks!
@@Yuri_Ferrer Unfortunately not.. you could get the phaser sound but it also has a triangle LFO, possibly a tremolo or slicer that really is what makes the sound.. the TankG can't do this.
The fact that the Tank G is capable of using cabinet impulse responses means that the tonal possibilities are endless so I have no doubt that you’ll be able to achieve any sound you want. My knowledge of the Arctic Monkeys is that the sound is quite clean, chimey and often ambient so you would start with one of the clean amps and use some reverb but it’s not a very complicated sound.
Tank G works as a receiver only to connect your phone or computer to it and use either your amp or your headset with cable to listen to it while playing over the track
The bang for the bucks of this little box is simply incredible.
Thanks for this! Awesome sound
My pleasure!
Now you're hooked. You're the go to guitarist to learn abaught this cool pedal..RocknRollflat5
Thanks again for watching, after watching this video after my previous “thoughts“ Video, do you agree now that it sounds so much better?

That early AC/DC tone like what?!!!!
haha, hopefully that means you thought it was okay? 😅
My Tank-G just arrived. I will do what you did :) Thank you!
Hope you enjoy it!

Not sure but just dial it in to taste. Gain is very dependent on your guitar, type of pickups etc so maybe you just need to add more..
@@tianjay I added more gain and it sounded amazing, the clean tone also sounded very nice, thanks for giving such good presets for free!

do you know how to pair Bluetooth headphones to TANK-G? I can't get mine to pair/connect.
Tank G works as a receiver only to connect your phone or computer to it and use either your amp or your headset with cable to listen to it while playing over the track
There should be a QR Code on your instructions booklet, scan that with your phones camera and it will guide you to the app.
how to use the .tkg files?
I explain how to load them in the video. You will require the TankG software to do so.
