- I bought a 2012 Landrover Freelander 2012 to turn into a camper, the Landrover divides lots of opinions with it's shaky history of not being super reliable however i am happy with my purchase so far and quickly falling in love with this amazing car
I cannot wait to go on my first camping adventure with it.

Can’t go wrong with a Freelander, I’ve never owned any car for more than six months in my life.. bought a Freelander 2 six years ago and cannot imagine parting with it.. best car I’ve ever owned!!
They will do everything from off road to towing caravans all day long, keep them maintained and they will never let you down 👍👍 great purchase 👍👍
Don’t take too much notice of the detractors who have invariably never stepped foot in a Landy, these FL2 are one of the best LR produced to date. True, they need more fettling than other 4x4’s, but keep on top of regular maintenance and they are pretty indestructible. Easy to work on at home, excellent parts supply, devoid of over-tech, great off-road and comfy cruisers. Great choice 🫡
Thank you kindly, i love it !
100% this comment had mine 2 yrs and like he said keep on the maintenance and there fantastic cars
Very informed comment and couldn't agree more.👍 Had ours 9 years and handles everything you can throw at it. Wouldn't be without one. Enjoy 😎
100%
I’ve owned a 2011 LR2 in the US for 10 years….Has been a great vehicle and plan on keeping it until it dies….
I've had Freelander 2s for 8 years now and love it. Glad to see you got an automatic the Asin gearbox are strong but you need to change the fluid every 50000 miles and service regularly.
People who have never owned an FL2 don't understand, 210k miles 2 cam belts and good servicing, love it would never change until it explodes lol, but do have a have a bag of spanners available, it's a land rover thing... love them....
Nice freelander mate, nice spec too. They are actually really good, I had a freelander 1 for 10 years, all good, now have a freelander 2 and absolutely love it. They do become a hobby rather than just transport and if you have an open mind and repair it when necessary then you'll get on just fine with it. One tip, change the oil every 6 months, ( proper jlr spec) and only use genuine fuel filters (every 2 years). Ok that's 2 tips.
I'm just outside Edinburgh so I'll give you a toot if I see you 👍. (Black sd4 hse) oh and I highly recommend whites autos in dalry ( indie LR specialist) for any work,. Great video, can't wait to see more. Cheers.
Amazing , really appreciate all the info and nice words , got an oil leak on mine that’s been neglected before hand but hoping to get that solved soon and then get on the road again camping , love it so far though
I pick up mine today, your videos sealed the deal for me. Great stuff thanks 😊
Enjoy it mate, it never worked out for what I needed it for but they're a joy to drive and i miss mine alot !
Thanks mate! Had it a week now and took it to the Peak District. Drives great! Sorry it didn’t work out for you.
I've always had land-rover. A disco td5 which lasted me around 13 years and now a freelander 2 metropolis which I've had 3 years with no issues. Those who've had or driven land-rovers love them and those who slate them haven't in my opinion. As long as you love them and service them they're your best friend. Enjoy
Love mine , instantly loved it hence why i am happy to sort it's minor issues and get on the road with it asap !
Was the Disco as bad as everyone says? I’d love a Disco 4, but may get the FL2 as it’s apparently more reliable.
Love watching your videos Jack, can't wait to see the transformation of your new "home"😊👍 Good luck and many more exciting adventures ahead of you!🌿☀
Thank you very much for that comment, glad to have you here along on the journey !
I cant wait to get started with this new chapter, also if you can please help a brother out and LIKE the video and a wee Subscribe too if you haven't already , muchas gracias ! ♥
Great little video and the car looks great 👍
Look forward to following your adventures
All the best
I too picked up a Freelander 2 in 2023, a 2012 SD4 HSE and loving it so far. I have always had the car camping dream but with a young family around it is mostly vicarious. Nice video, as an Indian expat here, the punjabi music had me hooked 😂
Amazing mate ! and thank you for the kind words !
Just watched a couple of your vids and enjoyed them
I’m also an freelander owner and have spent 2 trips camping in it , Xmas in highlands ❤ I’ll be watching to see your conversion and see what i can improve on 👍
Hey Paul !
Nice to see a fellow Landy owner here ! Xmas in highlands sounds magical !
Glad to have you along here !
Jack my boy so joyful and so handsome great to see ya in that Ride. Keen to see more bro love seeing what you’re up to
Here he is , thank you brother, appreciate the love and support as always !
Hey Jack, thanks for the video! How is it going so far? I am considering to buy the Freelander 2 but 2009 model. Are you happy so far with yours?
Interesting, we went from a CR-V to a Freelander 2. Preferred the FL2, just felt more rugged. Both were great to drive though. From what I remember Honda and Land Rover were working on a common vehicle, then towards the end they went their separate ways. Honda came out with the CR-V and LR came out with the Freelander. We sold our FL2 years ago, but recently picked up another and intend to keep it for many, many years.
Wow that’s cool we literally done the same and sick fact about Honda & LR,
Yeah I love the FL2 , I did love my Honda as well tbh , it was a great car I just couldn’t trust it because it’s rusty sun frame , but that’s living in the UK for you , nothing to do with Honda
The FL2 drives very nice , good for me on long journeys
Looks a nice car jack look forward to your adventures 😎👍👍
Thank You Allan , glad to have you join along !
Had Land Rovers 25 years ( still have a TD5 ) bought a FL2 with a little fear as the FL1 was not the best . 4.5 years later , one set of front discs plus regular servicing , best Land rover ever built , even John Craddocks said they sell nothing for them other than general spares.
Don't treat it like a golf gti and don't pull the arse off it , will last years . In fact one on A/T for £22k !!!
Oh my goodness!!! What have you done Jack??
Only messing pal! 😂😂 ….. it’ll be great once you have it how you need it!
Hahahah , thank you mate appreciate it !
Awe ra best for the new car everything will be fine 😊..take care..Billy
Cheers Billy ! Appreciate it !
Just about to buy a Freelander 2 HSE automatic. I’m really looking forward to getting it as it will be my first experience of land rover ownership.
Have a good time ! They’re amazing cars and I miss mine a lot !
Dealers don't like credit cards as they offer a lot more buyer protection if the car proves faulty. It's easy for a CC company to get their money back than for your bank transfer.
I'll look forward to seeing your freelander build .
Thanks Carl glad to have you here !
@@jackacook Thanks late winter I've been working on my own car camper I've recently brought a Vauxhall Mokka X 1600 CDTi, I'm about to go on my first car camp in a fortnight
@@carlsadventures2361 Thats Amazing ! Best wishes on your first trip , dont get put off by any things that doesn't go the way you planned, it usually happens haha but can make a great story
Great motors! Ps what headphones you wearing I like them 😂
Thanks and they are the Apple Airpods Max , highly recommend !
Love the Freelander2 but could not find nice one ending up with crv all wheel drive nice cars 👍👍
CRV’ will always have a place in my heart , which year did you end up getting ?
Freelander needs more fettling than other 4x4s? I dont think thats true.... Try owning a VW tiguan, audi q5 or bmw x3.... They all have big issues and troubles..... I think a well maintained freelander with regular oil change on diff... will be chaper to run than the others.....
Freelancers they should've never stopped the production of, they ain't a bad motor, instead they swapped it for the Range Rover Voque which has been nothing but drama and problems. FL has been one of the most reliable Land Rovers ever made in my opinion and experience.
I've had three landrovers/range rovers. The Freelander2 was excellent. The Disco4 and the Range Rover sport were junk.
Nice car. Looking forward to the build. 🙄
See you tomorrow lad 🫡😆
Wife love's here's had it 5 years ❤
Doesn't get more British than this haha :D
Hahaha very true !
All car marks have lemons, I’ve got a Range Rover Evoque .5 years no problems.yet
Great to hear mate ! And you are not wrong !
I have 201000 miles on my TD4 2006 facelift. Even if you spend £1000 a year on service and repairs.
Brilliant stuff !
Fun fact: There are more people in Yorkshire than in Scotland.
No way 😅
@@jackacook Yeah, Yorkshire 5.486, Scotland 5.484
Any time is a bad time to buy a landrover.
😅

The "drama" was the universe telling you to not buy it.
Freelanders are the most unrealiable LR and that's saying something.
its a freelander 2, which because LR had problems with the original Freelander made massive improvements to. Ive had mine for over 4 years and havent had a problem with it
Good job he didn't buy a Freelander then isn't it, he bought a Freelander 2, ive had one for years and not had any issues. nonce.
