    UPDATE: To address the “sparseness” of the equipment many of you had astutely pointed out, today Aptera announced that those automated robots “AGVs” have finally arrived! This is the next step towards large scale production!

      Looking forward to seeing these rolling off the line!
      I've been a long term subscriber to the philosophy of "never buy a new car".
      Aptera is a sound exception to this rule.
      This is a truly different vehicle that is going to be the game changer, especially for folks in the states.
      We need to get away from driving tanks and monster trucks (vehicles that reactive autopilot minded people buy because they are easy targets for major manufacturers). Not hating...I genuinely feel bad for materialists are slaving away to maintain an image, or think they can find happiness in something like a massive inefficient vehicle, or anything else that further harms this living Earth.

    Great video! I firmly believe that Aptera's use of third-party software solutions like CarPlay and openpilot is a testament to their forward-thinking approach. Established tech companies generally produce superior software to automobile companies, and both CarPlay and openpilot are considered leaders in their respective classes. In my view, Aptera's integration of these third-party systems is a strength, not a weakness. 26:14

    I have been following Aptera since I found out about it a few years ago. I'm happy to see that things are still moving forward. I wish the team all the best.
    I have expressed several concerns about some design elements before. Things that seem to needlessly deviate from the norm, and could be off-putting to potential buyers.
    The big ones being the "hello kitty" steering yoke, the ball/nub/light assembly on the rear and the placement of the side-view camera screens.
    The steering should have the option of a more conventional steering wheel as most drivers will use hand-over-hand when turning a corner. That yoke, missing a huge chunk of the wheel will hinder that method of steering, and could cause a an accident when a driver goes to reach for the most crucial control of any car, and there is nothing there. That, and if you look at the current iteration, You can see Hello Kitty's face with two beady little eyes and a huge gaping maw, and her two ears sticking up at the top. (Sorry if you can not unsee it now.) I for one certainly do not want HK staring into my soul with a huge gaping maw, the entire time I'm driving. Blame it on pareidolia. Perhaps the steering column and wheel seen on the test bench will see production. Hopefully? Can you shed any light on that?
    Then there is the issue with the location of the sideview screens. Again drivers are accustomed to looking toward the location of conventional side mirrors when changing lanes of checking traffic behind them. The previous version of the car had those screen at each end of the dash, very near where traditional mirrors would be. I think this should be layout. An advantage of that would solve a third concern I have. That being having the speedometer, charge/range, and other practical vehicle info displayed in the normal location, ahead of the driver, rather than off to the side. Again, any word on that being considered?
    A fourth concern would be that nub on the rear of the car, where the plate light is housed. How long until that thing is snapped off of there when crawling in/out of the rear on a camping trip, or when loading, unloading cargo? You know that someone is going to go to get out of their Aptera camping package setup, throw their legs over the edge, and slide out snapping that ball/nub thing right off, or getting it nearly shoved into their nethers. Either way, not good.
    So I was just wondering if there is any word regarding any of those things.
    Thanks, best wishes, and have a wonderful day.

    • @bobhilder1469
      @bobhilder1469 Год назад +1

      When "transparent glass" solar panels become efficient enough they would be a great choice for the rear hatch! If any "wind powered" apparatus slows the wind down, it would be a literal "drag" so likely not a good idea on a moving Aptera.

    • @extremechris9145
      @extremechris9145 Год назад

      @@bobhilder1469 isn't reducing drag a good way of reducing friction and g forces attributed to passing through the medium of air? I propose a nanostructural array to aid in particle flow, which would also further reduce drag beyond just a solid state wind turbine. It could be applied like a nanocrystalline spray on hydrophobic coating for cars. I study drag reduction for torpedoes and wind tunnel effects, and suoercavitation works in air, based on pressure differentials of the medium, same with space, and the reason why light isn't a finite speed, its slower in air, and water, and space is a medium itself for particle effects.

    • @bobhilder1469
      @bobhilder1469 Год назад +1

      @@extremechris9145 I probably could have been a bit clearer. Let me try this from a different angle. If the "solid state wind turbine" is mounted on Aptera and the intent is to use it while driving (creating electricity), won't it increase drag and tend to slow Aptera down like "regen" brakes do? I'm coming from a conservation of energy point of view. Now, if the vehicle was stationary and there happened to be a good, stiff wind, by all means deploy the "solid state wind turbine"!

    • @extremechris9145
      @extremechris9145 Год назад +1

      @@bobhilder1469 Just like in f1, the rear wing could be adjustable based on usage. Plus many different wind tunnel tests would minimize such drag, as well as many locations could be used for its placement. Solid state wind is much better stationary, but if they went through experimentation processes, it could induce viability whilst in motion, despite the added drag coefficients.
