    Great comparison review to the point. I was about to purchase a Peloton then saw multiple comparisons. I like the idea of riding in different countries and views. Also having the instructors control the work out with option to override if too intense or not enough is great. I recently purchased the NT and absolutely love it and so does my husband. So many great features. My friends who have Pelotons love them as well. Can't go wrong with either.

      I love it. I also have the treadmill. The whole iFIT ecosystem is so cool and they have frequent sales on the memberships and typically give you a temporary membership when you buy a piece of equipment. During the pandemic, the customer service had extremely long wait times, but when I got my treadmill about a year ago I got someone within 5 minutes. I had a minor issue of syncing my membership cards which they helped me with. They are re both nice systems, but the NT really did seem like it was the better choice. To me, the only real advantage of the Peloton is that it looks a little sexier, but the NT is no slouch in the looks department either.

A Nordic Track agent told me I could buy an extended warranty up to 1 year after my purchase (if I remember correctly), so I'll be doing that. Any idea if you'll be using iFit or similar app? I checked it out and it was hard to navigate. I think I'm going to try the Peloton free trial because I really like studio based classes. I may or may not upgrade to a paid membership going forward.

    NOTE: This product works exactly as described. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(!!) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!

    I really enjoyed your very thorough review of the two bikes.
    I was seriously leaning towards the NordicTrack bike and its features. So I tried the trial on both of the apps and I will have to say, I was very turned off by the NT IFit app. Even using the filters, it was not easy to navigate to find the exact level/type of classes I wanted. (I felt the Peloton app was much more intuitive and organized better.)
    One of my biggest problems with the NT software though, is that you cannot move forward or backward to review or skip a section of a class. If you pause for over 10 min, the class ends. Once you are out of the class, you must start the class all over again.
    On the outdoor classes, I found it a little offputting that the NT instructors talk to you about the scenery, etc during the whole run or biking session. That may be nice the first time you run through it, but not if you decide to do that class again..... (Yes, you can turn down the volume of the instructor, but you want the workout commentary.) The scenery of the outdoor classes in the NT app is beautiful, for sure.
    I then went online to check reviews of the NT app and the overwhelming negative comments about software glitches and overall horrible customer service woes have scared me away.
    I am not interested in the leaderboards and community that Peloton is so good at, but in looking at their app and classes - I was much more impressed. By looking on RUclips, I see that Peloton does offer outdoor "scenic" bike rides as well (they do not have the instructor in front of you - it is more self run).
    So, as much as I liked the features of the NT bike (incline/decline, swivel screen, no need for special biking shoes), I will be purchasing the Peloton.
    Thank you again, for your wonderful review. It gave me a great starting point to compare both bikes.
    UPDATE: in all fairness, I have continued to research both companies and I see an equal number of complaints about peleton and customer service, etc.
    so... I guess I my decision will come down to the app. :0)

      Thanks Juan! We are glad it is helpful! Peloton has just released a new bike: the Bike+. You may want to take a look at that one -- they have fixed all the issues we listed on the original Peloton bike. The new Bike+ has speakers in the front of the screen, it does have the automatic resistance built into the program, and the screen swivels from side to side. It's worth a look if you're shopping for subscription-based bikes.

    Great review. Counter to most of the other head to head reviews out there. There are a lot more complaints about hardware quality and support for the S22i and the fan/motors for raising/lowering are noisy. The screen wobbles when you ride (you can see that in your video too). I agree they both seem like great bikes. It was a hard call but I went with the Peloton but many thanks for the great review.

      @Bodine yes! Have had it since mid January and LOVE it. Best parts are the outdoor rides and the automatic incline/declines which are controlled by the trainers. This video is nearly a year old now. I am just now shopping for a spin bike and it has come down to these two exact bikes! This is the most informative comparison on all points and functions I could think of. They need to hire you to do reviews and comparisons of EVERY product on the market. I also watched your video on the S15i and it was extremely informative as well. This might be the most helpful RUclips video I have ever seen! Also, so if you can increase or reduce the resistance on the NordicTrack by .5, then it really has 49 resistance settings no? I think the Peloton might be more in line with a in gym spin bike where resistance is infinite (100 is really infinite for all intents and purposes). This video has sealed the choice for me on which bike I am getting. Peloton might be the popular king of the market right now, but the S22i is definitely the better bike of the two as well as a better value.

    After doing extensive comparisons with Peloton and Nordictrack it’s pretty clear that if you want a better outdoor simulated riding experience the s22 is better. If that is not your jam the Peloton is far superior in terms of overall instructors, live classes, etc.
    I personally find the incline/decline to be loud and somewhat gimmicky on the Nordictrack, I wish they would have made motor more quiet. It’s also one more part to break down the road.

    • @reverseetc

      That is exactly what I was thinking - adding that to the fact that the nordictrak looks much older and cheaply made - huuuuge bezel on the screen, weird handlebars, choppy interface when using the touchscreen - it feels like the peloton is the better choice.

NordicTrak does too, except you need to pay the setup fee, a $250 return ship fee and a 10% restock fee .. on a $2000 bike, that turns out to be a $700 one month trial if you don't like the bike.

    I don't think you can wrong with either, but NordicTrack has a pretty good deal going on right now and I favored it slightly because of the incline / decline so that's the one I went with.

    One of the best reviews I have seen but one glaring omission (which makes me think NT influenced this video in some way?). I have owned my S22i for 12 months and ride Peloton when staying at Peloton equipped hotels (20+ Peloton classes taken). The s22i suffers from "frame wobble" (slight movement of frame from side to side) due to the incline/decline fork design. The bike will not tip over and is sturdy but the frame/fork wobble translates into TV monitor wobble and this takes getting used to. When I ride a Peloton I can stand up and ride as hard as I can and the 22" monitor will not move; with the s22i I find myself holding back a little due to this wobble. I have had many calls with NT's support team and exchanged messages with other s22i owners and all acknowledge this is a result of bike design. Having said all that I would purchase my s22i all over again for many of the reasons described in the video but believe frame wobble translating into monitor wobble could be a deal breaker for some potential buyers and therefore acknowledged. A counter opinion could be frame and monitor wobble encourages better posture when riding by making you focus on your core more!

      Thanks for your comment. The screen on the s22i is substantially heavier than the Peloton screen -- due to the fact that it has fans at the bottom. It is also 2" further from the bike frame bc of the placement of the weights on the front tray. The Peloton screen is lighter and closer to the handlebars (you'll notice they angle upwards directly in front of the screen). We have noticed a bit of screen wobble on the s22i as a result of this design. In the Pro's and Con's section of our detailed written review on our website we list the s22i screen as being heavy (Con) and give kudos to Peloton for frame stability -- as there is no screen wobble (Pro). This aspect doesn't hinder riding performance or your ability to get the most out of the bike. Any frame or screen wobble is also exacerbated if someone uses too much resistance and has to shift body weight from side to side while out of the saddle -- which can occur on either bike. Thank you for your insight, we are glad to hear from someone with experience on both bikes! Keep riding!

      Update to original post. I would now recommend Peleton over s22i. Unfortunately after 10 months of use the circuit board that controls the incline/decline and resistance of my s22I has blown and was informed it would be 1-2 months before a new part arrived (I live in one of the largest cities in the USA not a remote country or area). In addition this is a known fault and there is a RUclips video that I am to use to replace the circuit board myself (confirms this is a regular occurrence). I recognize things break but 1-2 months before the part will be shipped on a known problem is unacceptable. I have a feeling this would not be the case with Peloton,

    I'm still shopping for a bike like this. Just from my experience with the spinning classes in the gym before, I can tell Peloton still stands out more than NodicTrack. S22i does have more features, mainly incline and decline. But do you really need that? It's not like on a tread mead which you can feel the difference and change your heart rate. On a stationary bike, the only thing it does is shift your center forward or backward. And it create a big spot to go wrong in the long term life. I would prefer a bike has less moving parts that could go wrong. I have a NordicTrack tread mead and that out door following up workout is interesting, but far from enough to attract me to get back to the workout. Compare to that, you will find out that for spinning, the beauty is mostly from their class. They can pump out so much energy from you with a good class. So to me, following some one riding somewhere in the world is not much of different just riding by my self, which is boring. I will definitely need a good class, if not in physically in the gym with bunch of other people and a good trainer, but at least some one can guide you, encourage you, to spinning like crazy.

I hear live classes are coming to NordicTrack in the next month. Have you heard anything in this regard? I also hear that the NordicTrack feels a little unstable. Lots of questions...

    • @TreadmillReviewGuru
      @TreadmillReviewGuru  4 года назад +2

      Hi, thanks for watching our review and offering some great feedback! Great questions!
      The S22i is very sturdy and stable but the screen does move just a little bit with movement, especially if you are riding hard. Unfortunately when you see her get on the bike for the first time at about 14:31 in the video, the adjustment for the screen height wasn't tightened all the way the screen looks a little wobbly.
      iFit sent out a survey to all it's member a few weeks ago asking about live classes, that being said we are hoping they are getting closer to live classes, but that's all we know.
      The iFit leader board and the Peloton leader board are very very similar and the functionality on them is about the same. iFit offers a few more filtering options as of right now.
      We hope this helps answer your questions, please let us know if you have any other follow up questions.

      @@TreadmillReviewGuru Thank you! Again, this is the most helpful review I've seen and will be purchasing a NordicTrack as a result. Thanks for confirming the sturdiness of the bike. I had read somewhere that NordicTrack was a bit less sturdy. Last question that I can't find answers to: ability to push workouts from IFit to Garmin? Or would I just need to manually track the workout on my Garmin device when I began?

    • @Anxiouslydisengaged
      @Anxiouslydisengaged 4 года назад +7

      Wanted to follow up here. I ended up purchasing the NordicTrack S22i, and just did my first few rides on it. Loved the ride, the interactions, and the training. I think there are a few things that should be mentioned that I don't believe are in the video (unless I just missed them). iFit, NordicTrack's fitness platform, does not sync with Strava. That's a HUGE gap for me, and is for many. You can export your activities manually as TCX files, but the wattage and GPS file from your workout won't transfer over, which is a huge bummer. Peloton does, however, integrate directly with Strava - that's a big win. Also, you can't connect your Garmin Watch to the S22i either, which means you're losing that value. Additionally, the S22i does not have ANT+ capability, so you can't connect Garmin Heartrate monitors or other rate monitors that only have ANT+. I do believe you can connect Bluetooth-capable heart rate monitors, but haven't accessed the bluetooth settings yet. There is an AUX jack to plug in your phone and play your own music, but connecting to bluetooth headphones is not immediately available. I do believe you can get around it by going through admin mode, but have not been able to get into it yet. Just a few thoughts that I think are worth adding.

      @TreadmillReviewGuru  4 года назад

      @@Anxiouslydisengaged thank you for your input! We've had other viewers with the same Strava/Garmin question, so I've used your information as a response. Bluetooth devices sync easily, but you're right, iFit does not have ANT+ capability so it won't sync with any ANT+ only device. It would be nice if this (and Bluetooth out for wireless headphones) were both added soon! Thanks again!

I went back to the Peloton app. Overall I would take all the Peloton instructors, the addition features and add them to the NordicTrac bike. The downside to my bike the frame was damaged during transport. 10 days later the belt broke. They replaced the belt, however, they did not have a replacement frame. Although Nordic track offers a full money back policy within 30 days of purchase. It took 3 months for me to get a refund after multiple phone calls. They told me to throw out the bike because that was the last of the S10i model. I rode the bike until the magnetic resistance completely checked out. My bike and I parted ways today. Dear God, how does Peloton have such a high stock value and so much attention? The NordicTrack wins in a landslide. Like 15 better features and pricing. I only saw two favorable items for Peloton, a larger arm rest if you like to ride in an aero position and bluetooth for a headshet (Nordic requires an adaptor). Great review! Nordic here we come!

      Agree, but does Norditrack also have live trainers or just scenery? They didn’t show that here

    Amazing video. Thanks for the attention to detail.
    With the updates to ifit and the s22i bike (ie quieter motor) do you think an update video is in order!?!?

      Do you have to plug it out after your finish using it? Is there a way to turn it off without unplugging it everytime?

      @@kennysmith1494 There is an on off switch on the bike that you can switch off after you are done using the bike.

    We love our NordicTrack!! I have become addicted to Chris Clark’s workouts on iFit. He’s truly the best studio trainer!! Give his workouts a try. Also, you can create your own routes on iFit. There’s a section of hills where I live so I plugged in the route and can do those hills whenever I want. Love it!!

    Your reviews are fair and to the point , without hating on any brand , pointing out the difference but I do favor the nordictrack better even the has no bluetooth but in 2022 on sale now new improved model s22i new monitor with 30 Watts sound with speakers now on front of monitor , new improved incline/decline motor , improved handlebar adjustment, hybrid spd toe clip pedals all for same price or i can save 500 off original model

    Excellent review. I considered both and settled on the S22i before I watched this video but I am extremely happy that I chose correctly after watching one of the best videos ever! I loved the detailed feature descriptions and on both bikes. To me, the two features that set the S22i way over the Peloton were the incline/decline and Google Earth-based workouts. I had a Proform Tour de France (precursor to the S22i) and those two features alone take the indoor workout experience to a high level! Great video, outstanding job!

    That’s an older Peloton she’s using. The newer one has cables hidden, the monitor rotates and the instructor can increase/decrease your resistance I believe.

      Correct. This video is of the original Peloton bike. Our video was made before the new Bike+ was announced or released. The original bike price has been reduced now that the new one is available.

      Peloton is also suing Echelon which is even more closely mimicking their hardware and streaming spin classes.
