The 2007 movie actually was loosely based on the 2003 series. I remember as a kid watching the episode where Leo left the team to go to train with the Ancient One, then the series stopped to let the movie come out. And the movie continued from when Leo was gone and Karai was around without shredder, just like in the show. The show later on continued right where it left off, retconning the movie, but it was still a loose adaptation.

Personally, I love the 2007 TMNT designs. The animation looks really good for something coming out of 2007, and the film is a fun watch. I wish we had gotten the other 2-3 movies they had planned for it, as the plots for those seem really cool. I wonder if we’ll ever get to see those 2007 designs get used in a future series. Couldn’t really make the decision at first but I think 2012 is better. I always disliked the eye spacing on the 2007 turtles and their beaks looked a bit weird. Also I didn’t like their shell design all that much. The 2012 designs actually look more like turtles. I liked their head designs better too. Not to mention how they have different skin tones, physical features, and even teeth from one another.
Hold on to your shells people! I’m gonna make some comparisons: 2007 Turtles felt very grounded and despite their similarity in looks you could definitely see the differences between each for Turtle brothers. 2012 Turtles got a much more recognizable change to their designs to help audiences distinguish them not only from personality but also from height, shells and builds. The 2012 Turtles were made for younger audiences, thus their attitudes and personalities were much more “easier” to follow and understand. Both the 2012 and 2007 versions are pretty good in displaying the Turtles personalities and differences, however the 2012 Turtles (because they were a series) had much more time to grow and develop as characters. This was cool, as in the 2007 movie only Raphael and Leonardo get a chance to develop as characters while Mikey and Donnie act as support characters. Thanks for the awesome vids Old Turtle Den! Question: What did you think of the 2012 Casey Jones? Does he compare to any other of his predecessors in the older comics and series?
The 2012 designs are definitely my favorite, but a lot of that has to do with them being the first version of the tmnt that I was familiar with. People with more history with the franchise seem to prefer the 2007 look, since it's a little more traditional. But in any case, there's something about the 2012 turtles that's just so appealing to me. They look younger than any previous version. All of their musculature is made of angles that have been rounded off in this really interesting way. I even like their giant flat feet. The details are so cute, too, like how Raph's upper lip sticks out, or Mikey's freckles. I think that the 2007 turtles look more suitable to be ninjas, and more hardened from that life. 2012 look like cool, friendly teens. Definitely really suitable for a show on Nick.
When it comes to TMNT(2007), they look agile and more skilled. Add in the fact that their facial features are unique and expressive. For Nickelodeon's TMNT(2012), they look unique body type wise, their facial expressions are more of eye candy. So I'd say both
I love the tmnt 2007. It's just the designs on those characters was awesome, the voice acting, and the animation looked SICK! It was my first time watching the tmnt, I first watched the 2007 movie that I loved😊
I like both the 2007 and 2012 designs but 2007 looks a little bit badass and it reminds me of the 90's TMNT live action look. As for 2012 is more colorful and the characters have little bit more personality is funny how it has some anime elements in CGI.
I wish someone made a video about how the 2012 Ninja turtles sometimes make anime expressions or at least a Reddit post or something. Almost no one talks about it.
I watched TMNT (2003), TMNT (2007) , and TMNT (2012) while I grew up, but I kinda fell off my of watching 2012 after season 3 because I started watching RUclips as my main source of entertainment instead of cable/it got boring. I was only old enough to watch the tail end of 2003 Turtles and it's reruns.

I’m fine with 2007 designs, but I do agree with those eyes. They should be a little bit closer, but maybe not too closer.😅 But it’s my also own opinion about 2007 turtles eyes.
If I had to pick a favorite between the two, it would be the turtles from 2007. Their looks and their voices are the most awesome in my personal opinion as a TMNT fan.👍
2012's design are better. They have distinct differences that you can tell apart from first glance, whereas the 2007 designs are all the same, unless you look really really close.
My Best Favorite 3D Animated Design of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the 2012 Turtles. The 2012 Turtles give a resemblance to High Schoolers and the 1990 Turtles. I really love Greg Cipes voice portrayal of Michelangelo and it's also funny seeing Donatello's Gap Teeth since he has a clumsiness and nerdiness personality. I also like the Animation, Fight Sequences, and the Japanese Anime Expressions during funny moments with other effects in the 2012 Series and it kept its tone darker, funnier, and emotional. The 2007 Turtles are ok but personally, they're not my favorite 3D Animated Designs of the Turtles.
2012 for me. Being mildly colorblind I had a hard time telling Leonardo and Donatello apart as a kid and I also didn't realize all four turtles in the 2003 version were supposed to be different shades of green, so I love how distinct the head shapes, body types, and markings of the 2012 versions are while not straying too far from the base designs like Rise did.
2012 TMNT has way better characters designs but I do like the 2007 character designs as well and I think both versions need more love then what they get but that's just me 😊
Okay, so with your logic if someone prefers the 1990 designs, then they are blinded by nostalgia? Would if people actually think they look the best because they are realistic and just good in general?
I agree with you and honestly prefer the 2007 designs over the 2012 ones(don't kill me please, 2012 show is my favorite one TMNT show). But I was also hoping for you to talk about their weapon positioning. Things like like 2012 Raph's sais being sheathed behind him on his shell and not on the side like 2007 Raph. Or 2012 Leo's katanas being sheathed in the same direction, but 2007 Leo's crossing over each other. Oh well. Great video like always
The 2007 turtle designs have always been my favorite. It feels like they took the 1987 cartoon and 1990 movie versions and mashed them together to create a familiar and more mature look for them. Good quality 2D animation seems hard to find nowadays, I feel that they were able to do more with their 3D models in fights etc than they ever would have been able to pull off using traditional 2D animation.
@@luckymouse1988 As much hate as the new TMNT cartoon gets the animation is so smooth so I think they could easily pull it off in 2D animation. Thing is budget would be expensive.
I like the 2007 designs, but must say I personally think the 2012 designs are better. The 2012 designs are unique, cool & make it much easier to tell every turtle apart.
The 2007 version has the more realistic look that resembles the prime turtles But the 2012 version has a more smoother design that almost the 80s and 90s version
2007 definitely better, the turtles look better with the classic design and proportions and when they look more "alike". You can play with the storylines, plots, elements, genres, kid vs adult level content all you want, but in the end, the characters, particularly the main ones, have to look good. Making them look different and changing their proportions was where Nickelodeon and the Michael Bay flicks went astray.
There's something about the 2012 designs I don't like. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they look like, textured or something, IDK. But the designs themselves I like, mainly because they looked different from each other, but still similar enough. TMNT is just so nostalgic though, I just can't decide!
Even though I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and those original turtles will always have a place in my heart, I think the 2012 turtles to be superior in all ways. The story was great, the turtles most resembled actual teenagers, and I really loved the comic book style freeze frames and backdrops that were added.
The 2007 character designs for the Turtles has been my favorite thus far. I agree the faces are a bit non-descript but if I was gonna design the turtles that’s how I’d do it. The problem I’ve always had is the color coding for Michelangelo. They’ve never quite gotten it right for me. The 1987 cartoon particularly in the first season was perfect. Michelangelo’s bandana should be more on the yellow side of orange, not pumpkin orange. You do that then he looks too much like Raphael because of the red tint. Or if you must have orange, the orange should be a paler shade of orange. Either way his color is yellow-orange
2007 FTW for me. The character design was faithful to the 1987 TV cartoon series and the 1990 live-action movie. In terms of story, the clash of personality between Leo and Ralph was brought to a new level to the point where they nearly killed each other, only for them to realise their own mistakes and how they could instead complement each other in the end. Great stuff!
The 2007 movie was 100% commented to the 2003 series. I remember in the show, they left it at a cliffhanger with Leo leaving to train with another master. Then that same week/month, the 2007 movie came out. The movie started with leo still away at training. After the movie came out, they continued the 2003 a few weeks later series by ignoring the 07 movie. But the point is that fans of the show would notice that the 07 movie continues from the show, even if it isn't technically canon to the show
I gotta choose the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was kind of obsessed with the TV show. Sadly me not having cable. I was not able to watch the last two seasons of the series, but I still love the show.
The 2007 designs have always been sharp and sweet in my humble opinion.Though it’s pretty vanilla, the turtles designs did have enough visual differences that allowed them to be unique from one another. Simple is truly effective and not only were these designs insanely striking. They even carried this awesome comic book feel to them which I simply adore. Gosh I wish these turtles got a trilogy...
My personal favorite design is from 2012 version. The turtles each have their own uniqueness. Raphael's crack on his left plastron and tattered bandana tails, Donatello's front tooth gap and tall, lean stature, Michaelangelo's freckles and short bandana tails, and Leonardo's dark green skin and deep sea blue eyes, etc.
Tbh i preffer 2007 TMNT designs more. I see them more as japan's warriors. Specialy on the feet , reminding me of the samurai footwear for some reason. I find 2007 design the best looking based on year it was made. i dislike 2012 for mainly one reason, they made them look less serious and more '' childish '' . And I am aware that 2012 is a cartoon but it would have been nice to see them - more serious than clown like.
Not even close. The 2012 started a while new thing with difffent body types and musculature, the ages were even visibly different. The different length headbands. The 3 fingers and of coarse 3 toes. (Never knee why that wasn’t done earlier) I love the TMNT movie but the 2012 show is the best designs for a cartoon by a mile. It leads the pack for every show. Even the beloved 2k3. The 2012 series was just the perfect storm. Made by a very loyal, talented man (CIRO Nieli) and it oozes though their designs. My opinion As a fan since day one !
for me- tmnt 2012 will always be the best. because they look like teens and stuff and im not saying in the others they don't its just for me they look better and cuter I guess oof..
I love both versions for different reasons. I love the TMNT designs because they look so clean and very close to the 1990’s movies. The 2012 show designs are awesome because they’re very “ninja like” and I love how their eyes go white when they’re going into “stealth” or “combat” mode. Both are great so I can’t decide!

I like the 2007 designs, but must say I personally think the 2012 designs are better. The 2012 designs are unique, cool & make it much easier to tell every turtle apart.
I like. The 2012. Series bit the designs. Not so much. The 2007. Look of the rurtles is waaaaayyyy better
The 2007 version has the more realistic look that resembles the prime turtles
But the 2012 version has a more smoother design that almost the 80s and 90s version
In my opinion
2012 wins
I remember I had a crush on 2007 Karai. Man oh man she looked amazing in the movie.
If I had to chose I would pick the 2007 look
2007 definitely better, the turtles look better with the classic design and proportions and when they look more "alike". You can play with the storylines, plots, elements, genres, kid vs adult level content all you want, but in the end, the characters, particularly the main ones, have to look good. Making them look different and changing their proportions was where Nickelodeon and the Michael Bay flicks went astray.
2007 for me, I will always love this movie & bought it recently 💚
2012 Turtles were the best.
I loved the 2012 series, now the new series is a joke... (in my opinion)
In most people's opinion
Same
I like the 2012 turtles most, I find the 2007 creepy
There's something about the 2012 designs I don't like. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they look like, textured or something, IDK. But the designs themselves I like, mainly because they looked different from each other, but still similar enough. TMNT is just so nostalgic though, I just can't decide!
I love 2012 vision they make it cool, sad, anger, nice, trust, and battle also the picture is cool I love it'///'
Even though I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and those original turtles will always have a place in my heart, I think the 2012 turtles to be superior in all ways.
2012 is my favorite since i grew up watching the show all the way to the end
2007 FTW for me. The character design was faithful to the 1987 TV cartoon series and the 1990 live-action movie. In terms of story, the clash of personality between Leo and Ralph was brought to a new level to the point where they nearly killed each other, only for them to realise their own mistakes and how they could instead complement each other in the end. Great stuff!
The designs in that new video game with DC is the best 3D look
Agreed.
@@THEOLDTURTLEDEN would love to see a series/movie with those designs
@ElTortugaAnime ElTortugaAnime injustice 2
But the point is that fans of the show would notice that the 07 movie continues from the show, even if it isn't technically canon to the show
Sort of like an alternative storyline based on the same material and story
Can you do a what if series with tmnt 🙏
I gotta choose the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was kind of obsessed with the TV show. Sadly me not having cable. I was not able to watch the last two seasons of the series, but I still love the show.
I grew up with tmnt 2012 and I love them too much. I’m sorry but I’m super biased. 2012 for the win!!
2007 turtles look way better than the 2012 ones, in my opinion the 2007 designs are the best ones out there
I love the 2012 version of the turtles alot. The 2007 is good tho.
TMNT 2012 is the best version of all turtles versions
2012 was the best im still sad that the ended it the 2012 tmnt was my childhood
It did not end They will continue where it was left on January 3 2020 As in Season 6
serah lina Who even said they would continue. If did then they would have announced it on Twitter or something.
I love the 2007 movie
The 2003 series was amazing~
I like the TMNT designs the texture of they're skin looks like real turtle skin.
I like some details of the 2007 designs but overall I'm more a fan of the 2012 versions
2007 my favorite, my second fav being 2003. Not a big fan of the 2012 look. They get some points for making them unique though.
My thoughts exactly.
@ElTortugaAnime ElTortugaAnime I have no words for this.
I"m so glad someone shared this channel with me. I will pass it on.
thank you!
for me- tmnt 2012 will always be the best. because they look like teens and stuff and im not saying in the others they don't its just for me they look better and cuter I guess oof..
2012 ninja turtles

Renette: YOU TURTLES ARE LIKE CELEBRITIES
Mutant Apocalypse: No U
I love both versions for different reasons. I love the TMNT designs because they look so clean and very close to the 1990’s movies. The 2012 show designs are awesome because they’re very “ninja like” and I love how their eyes go white when they’re going into “stealth” or “combat” mode. Both are great so I can’t decide!
I think the 2012 designs, they’re my favorite of all the turtles designs
2007 TMNT's Karai is so gorgeous. What a babe ❤
Currently watching 2012 definitely becoming my favorite.
