I played on green clay in US (not red), as club player. Yes, I need to be mindful of clay condition, it is playable almost immediately post rain but I find it challenging as it is muddy in a way. On the other side, if clay all dried up on a sunny day without proper sprinkling, it is another challenge. Basically it is easy to get wrong footed, easy to step into an uneven area causing ankle, knee or thigh or hip injury
I wonder if it becomes close to the murram (red earth mixed with soda) courts I played on in Kenya... Once, I ran down a dropshot, my feet slid under the net and I woke up a few seconds later a metre on the other side, with everyone around me to see that i was okay.
The year Nadal was having trouble against Isner was the year where the balls that were used were Babolat balls and they flew through the air quicker and skid through more instead of bouncing because of which Nadal had issues in that tournament early on.
Good to see your Channel ac tive again, well done. Where is Mr. Goat... The cat? How about The New cat? You Will have The New Federer documentary to talk about and we are hoping you do in old style, It means maybe that Federer stays beyond records. Wish you ALL The best.
Interesting to note: If the court is swept at various changeovers, it's an advantage to be the one serving second in the set, as you'll get fewer bad bounce surprises coming at you from the returner, on the freshly evened surface🎾
At this point, Djoker should really rest & device if surgery is the right decision. Wimbledon might be too early, so Fed maintains the record there, but the US Open should be happy hunting for him. It might be good for Novak to take a long breather (just like after completing the DjokerSlam & getting injured) and return fully focused on successful runs at the USO & AUS.
at 37 it seems that he has no much time left for recovery even w/o surgery. He doesn't like surgeries, but in case he has to undergo one, this would be the end for him. No chance he could reach his level again after recovery and rehab, which is 6-9 months if no complications.
Call me a conspiracy theorist, but when they refuse to do what is done even at a challenger level event, aka sweep the court, when both (Musetti was compalining too) players aren't satisfied with conditions, it looks like a set up. Hope he won't end up his career like that.
The bottle was crazy. Especially he is not silly, he knows some people don't like him because he's honest. Imagine being hit in the head not knowing where it comes from when you least expect it. And most people say it's not a big deal...
Matt, I know you're a born again Djokovic fan but cast your mind back to RG 2020 played in October when Nadal won without dropping a set and bagelling Djokovic in the final, the conditions were colder and heavier that year. If Nadal had been fit (2022 level let's say) he would absolutely have been the man to beat again irrespective of the conditions not being great/optimal for him.
It is only a speculation how would Nadal play. Nadal's level 2022 was such that we could speculate whether he would have beaten Sasha in SF. In addition, 1. set bagel in 2020 took an hour, so it was not an easy bagel at all.
What are you saying?? What about the fact that Novak beat him the next year? What about the fact that Nadal hast beat Novak off of clay in OVER A DECADE! What about the fact that Nadal has not won A SET off of Novak on hard courts in OVER A DECADE!!! Get lost with your garbage. Nadal is not even better than Federer. He is #3 and you can even make a case that Sampras should be ahead of him...
@@JoeV03 If you want a recap: I'm saying that I disagree with Matt that the conditions would affect a healthy Nadal and I've given 2020 RG as the example when the conditions where worse and Nadal was handing out breadsticks and bagels and didn't drop a set. The fact Nadal hasn't beaten Djokovic off clay for a decade is not relevant to the point I am making; you're just going off on an a rant.
@@vedranuschuplichmd8734 a bagel is a bagel....and the match was straight sets. You can speculate whether Zverev would have beaten Nadal but the fact is he hadn't taken a set when he injured himself and only Djokovic has lost the first set and beaten Nadal at RG. So the odds and all the stats were against Zverev. In the previous round FAA played a better match than Zverev, he actually won the first set and is one of only three players to take Nadal to five sets, had he rolled his ankle at the start of the 5th then we'd be speculating saying "FAA would have won" however we know how that turned out. Nadal in five. Zverev didn't take his chances in the first set, Nadal played the bigger points better, even if Zverev had taken the second it was still a massive task to maintain his level and take another two sets.
u r continuing to speculate. can u just stop spitting nonsense! u apparently do not follow tennis long enough, or u r just blinded Nadal's fan. Nadal's frequently complained about conditions in the past. Final 2012 against Novak for example when Novak won third set on wet conditions. Nadal insisted to stop the match complaining that the balls r heavy. He complained about conditions in the SF 2021 after loosing to Novak because it become colder at night and the ball did not jump high enough on his spin which favored Novak to turn it around. Nadal frequently complained about conditions of the clay on another courts, like in Madrid or Rome. So just follow the tennis more objectively, and do not be so biased!
