    This is what I need for my vintage audio collection. Although, I many need quite a few shelves for it, LOL.

    Very nice Chris. I just finished a 3 shelf stereo rack with wood legs, but I bought the same birch countertop slabs from Home Depot like you did. You got a much better price😀. You are absolutely correct that they are packed/shipped very well. Now I, like you can display the beauty of our vintage audio gear. Keep up the good work👍👍

    I assembled one of my own designs out of 2 old pallets, which cost me in total around 25 UKP for varnish screws and a stripe of LED lights that I built into the wooden shelf spacers I used instead of the rods that Chris used

      Thanks for the kind words. Yup, that's a great idea to use the extra wood. That's the nice thing about doing your own work, you can customize however you want.

    Thinking of making one of these but I would cover those threaded rod sections with cut-to-size sections of curtain rod, hollow pipe or conduit.

    Four caster wheels will help moving that heavy shelf.

    • @vintageaudioaddict
      @vintageaudioaddict  Год назад

      No need for wheels, it's not going anywhere. If it ever needs to be moved I can disassemble it in 20 minutes. No nails or wood glue holding it together. Unscrew the caps at the top then the nuts off the rods and remove the shelves one at a time.

    My next stereo rack! What did you do for the feet?

  • @isaiahhood236327
    @isaiahhood236327 10 месяцев назад

    Quick question for you sir! I have a vintage Marantz Model 140 that randomly started having this loud buzz sound out of the left channel. Now I started by switching the amplifier section from the left to the right, but the problem didn’t follow. Gain has no effect, and the VU meter and peak lamp or going crazy. Do you have any ideas?

  • @fonebones88

    Looks good.
    I'm a little skeptical whether it's not a little to flexible and twists if you press against an upper corners side of the top panel from the front for example, which I don't like that much and the cable behind the devices also remains very visible. Otherwise I would like to have something similar but different on wheels. Missing out on my own intuition to do that in an easy and! flexible way :-)
    Good job anyway.

    • @vintageaudioaddict
      @vintageaudioaddict  Год назад +3

      Thanks. One thing this thing isn't is flexible, lol. It would hold a lot more weight then it is now with no issues. No need for wheels, it's not going anywhere. If it ever needs to be moved I can disassemble it in 20 minutes. No nails or wood glue holding it together. Unscrew the caps at the top then the nuts off the rods and remove the shelves one at a time. The cables are not an issue for me. The equipment on this unit will change often as this rack is only showing about 10% of the audio equipment I have in my collection. I'll be moving gear in and out all the time on it. If the equipment was installed permanently I'd make it pretty.

    So the threads worked after painting?

    • @vintageaudioaddict
      @vintageaudioaddict  Год назад +1

      Yup, no issues at all. I was more worried about the cutting of the threaded rod. I did that with the hacksaw as I could be more accurate with the cut then a power tool. No issues with that either.
