Sir, you are a joy to watch, you’re like the Bob Ross of woodworking, instant fan here 👍🏼
Thanks for watching...I sure have heard that before haha! Wes
He is like the Bob Ross of woodworking. What a great observation.
Say that about Paul Sellers
Very nicely done! As an avid woodworker myself. I was very impressed with how you broke down your build. Thank you for taking you time to show this project. I have recently gotten a bigger TV and I need a bigger console. This a great looking console! Well Done Wes!
Thank you very much! I appreciate your comment and visiting the channel. Wes
I wish I knew how you attached the face frames.. I just found your video so I'll look through old videos to see if you said it somewhere else. Awesome woodworking! I want to build this when I get a new tv!
Sorry...that clip got lost in editing. It is attached with glue and face nails and then putty and sand. I will be sure to highlight that on my next face frame project. Thanks for watching, Wes
@@WoodworkingWithWes oh thank you so much for responding!! Fantastic job!
That looks like a great project. I’m gonna save this for future reference.
While I don't have any tools or the knowhow to build something like this I really appreciate it. I think with some minimal tools this can be made at an affordable price. That was sticker shock for sure when I saw that 800 dollar price. Knowing this can be built for around 125 dollars really does put things into perspective. Even if a few mistakes are made you can still build this for way less than they wanted.
It's a beautiful, compelling video and the end product is so much nicer than most store bought. On cost though, I don't have a table saw, air compressor or Brad nailer. To buy them would be prohibitive for me. Still, I admire the work.
Excellent video. Sir, you are an excellent and patient woodworker.
Thank you very much...I appreciate your kind words. Wes
thank you. your step by step teaching style is helpful to a beginner like me
You're very welcome...glad it was helpful! Wes
Superb Result Wes, great job and WHAT a saving too. (wish I had the tools you own, I'd definitely give this a go... again Wes, Superb !
Many thanks...I really appreciate your kind words. Wes
Just found your channel and subscribed! I like how you do the amazing work without all these fancy expensive tools!
Wes, keep it up! Just found your channel and love your work and process. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I am afraid we are losing our craftsmanship these days. Thanks for keeping it alive and accessible.
Awesome, you inspired me and this video makes the project very approachable.
This is a fantastic piece of furniture Wes! And will outlast the bought one by a very long time.👌👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥
Right on John...thanks again!!
Excellent craftsmanship.
I feel like I can build all of my furniture myself with your helpfull videos. I love how you hide all the fasteners ))
Glad you enjoyed the video...thank you so very much for your comment. Wes
That is so awesome, Wes! I love it! Yours not only costs way less, it looks better and it will be WAY stronger. That is such a cool design. I love the ingenuity you used to make it. Your projects and channel are the best. Thank you, sir! 👍🏼
Thanks so much...I really appreciate your kind words. Wes
Beautiful job Wes! I really like the laid back nature of your presentation. Subscribed.
Excellent Wes - I need to put my skills to making money for me too - I need a workshop fast.
Thank you ... I wish you success and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have all my live. Wes
Wes, I'm 73 and have most of the tools to build this console but lack your incredible skills. I watched the entire video and read all of the comments and just wanted to tell you that you are the kindest, professional woodworker I have ever encountered in my life. I'm still tempted to try building it because I need one of these. Thanks again for entertaining us so well.
Naaaah. You do not lack the skill. You just start and build your skills and confidance. A mistake is the opporrunity to grow.
I am 45 years old lady and do not have 10% of what this man has and learned to work around it.
*SIR: YOU CAN TOO.*
You can do it! I started wood working at 31, and by 34 i could build this. I never considered myself knowledgeable in anyway with woodworking but it comes fast if you have the interest.
Go for it, you never know what you can achieve until you do it.
The worst that can happen is you fuck it up, in which case, you know the areas you need to improve, go for it!
Grandpa Wes still got it.
Next you need to build a work bench to build on .nice tv stand good work
Work bench video...upcoming very soon. Thank you! Wes
A real teacher!
I have a sagging in the middle thing and this is what it should be. I'll build this but I think I may try box joints on mine just for fun. I like the finish, will go well in my too much brown living room.
Box joints will work great and I am sure it will be wonderful. Thanks, Wes
Great work actually it feels really solid piece.
I only have one note, at 23:36 you jumped to the finish in one second, I wished to know how you are going to widen horizontal shelfs
Sorry it was not shown...just glue and face nails, then putty and sand. Thanks for watching, Wes
Awesome work. Masters at work.
23:05 Shouldnt have cut. I wanted to watch him try to figure out where his bit went ... 😁
There was more than one time that happened that I saw . I thought i was seeing things. Then I looked again, it stayed on the screw a couple times. ( 23:31 )
Damn, I love your tutorials! Great!
What in tha world is that yellow jiggly thing at the bottom right hand corner of the screen? 😂😂😂😂 starting @21:05
buen master, excelente trabajo!
You didn't show or explain how you attached the face frames to the carcass. Would be good to know that to determine how you avoid or conceal the fastener holes.
Nice console, though. I wish we had a wood wholesaler where i live. I'm stuck with big box lumber, which is far more expensive than $2.50/lf
Hi wes great tutorial. I also wanted to know how to attach the face frame
Yes I really would like to see how you attached the frame as well.
I went back to watch it again to see how the face was fastened. He didn't show that.
Sorry that was not shown...I used glue, clamps and nails. Wes
Nice work! So, how did you put the frame face? Did you glued the frame face and used clamps?
Sorry it was not shown. I used glue, clamps and a few nails. Thanks for watching, Wes
Steven Wosniak's lost brother !
That thing looks so solid you could drop it off a building and it would still hold.
You channel is relaxing, well explained, your workflow simple and effective. Most younger folk trying to be funny seem to be on coke and using too much unnecessary gear.
Thank you so very much for your kind words. Wes
“You are watching a master at work”
Thank you very much!! Glad you enjoyed the video. Wes
11:28 Wes I love your work. But watching your hands right over the blades gives me chills. I realize it’s a great depth under the boards, but it’s always best to stay in practice of being away from the blades. Every dado cut you showed on this video your hand was directly over the blade. I enjoy seeing your projects and don’t want to see you get hurt. If you did 10 dado cuts this way, and then a standard cut, that’s when accidents happen. Stay in practice of avoiding the blades every time
I said to myself, he's mighty comfortable there and then I started looking at his hands for scars or missing digits. You can tell he's a professional though, his work is equisite.
Great job, it came out great. Just one question. Is the top and bottom shelves doubled up or it 3/4”? Thank you Wes..Lou from NC
Wow the thickness using blocks has opened my eyes to so many opportunities. Thank you so much. You have a new subscriber.
Welcome aboard! So glad the video has helped...lots more to come! Thanks, Wes
Me too. Im just starting off and never thought of this
$2.50 a board foot times 40 board feet equals $90. I like your math. I would like to take you to my local lumber supplier and see if you can save me $10 there too. Great work, just had to give you a hard time.
😀 haha...you got me!!
Wes, your speech diction is just broadcaster quality! I greatly appreciate your voice as I can clearly understand EVERY syllable of every word as you go along. That may seem silly but there's a lot of hearing impaired old guys out there, like me. Also, what about the expansion and contraction of the wood with the way you glued and nailed everything solid across the grain? Won't it split on ya someday? Hope the sides and top expand and contract in unison.
Charming, quaint and useful tutorial. However I can't understand why, after going into so much detail on nearly every screw, you decided NOT to show how you attached the facing frames to the body - arguably the most visible joint in the build
Sorry it was not shown...just glue and face nails, then putty and sand. Thanks for watching, Wes
I just wish you show how to place the face frame to make it look thicker.
Sorry it was not shown...just glue and face nails, then putty and sand. Thanks for watching, Wes
Good job Mr Wes quality piece for 125.00 bucks
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed the video, Wes
I'm getting into woodworking at 43 years old. I never had shop class and don't know anyone that is into woodworking. These videos are very educational. Thanks!
Thank you very much...glad the videos have been a help. Lot's more coming! Wes
What are the measurements ,beautifully made
I can't imagine that top holding up a 60-inch TV without sagging in the middle
Who says the TV sets on it? Maybe it’s wall mounted. Also if the TV base has legs on the outside it will probably be fine. If it has only a center stand it could sag.
Novice question here, wouldn’t it be more practical to sand all the pieces before assembly?
I did sand all the pieces before assembly...sorry, I thought that was mentioned in the video. Thanks for watching, Wes
You come across as a very patient and willing teacher. Great video and I learned a lot
I look forward to watching your tutorials and learn so much from your ingenious designs. Do you have plans available?
Thanks for the comment...we are working on plans. Thanks for watching, Wes
That is a fantastic piece of furniture. I personally never would have thought of white for my home. But, the next piece that I build for myself is going to be that white. Also, your use of glazes in general has really opened my eyes to the finishes I can offer. Thanks.
Thank you for your kind comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Wes
This is by far the best console build I have seen. Amazing job. I'm inspired to tackle this.
Hi wes love the tv console do you Do the order love this one
I would love to build this but I don’t want to make any mistakes by buying too much wood
Hi...when calculating how much wood to buy, don't forget to add about 20% for scrap factor. Thanks for watching, Wes
Great video., thank you. What type of screws are you using for the pocket holes?
Thanks for your nice comment. Check your hardware store for screws specifically for pocket hole construction. Wes
This is one of the best explained DIY projects ,I appreciate your efforts in making and uploading these great videos.......must respect from South Africa
Thank you so very much for your kindness...glad you enjoyed the video. Wes
How did you attach the face frame, and did you consider using 3/4" Baltic Birch ply for the shelving? Outstanding project and presentation, thank you for sharing this with us.
The face frame was attached with glue and face nails. Veneer plywood could have been used in the construction but I wanted to demonstrate 100% solid wood. Thanks for watching, Wes
Great job and video Wes. I've watched it several times just too get some tips and see if i missed anything. I made this exact same console not as good as yours but I believe I did fairly well. Thank you again Wes from a novice woodworker.
Excellent and easy to follow instructions. Thank you Wes.
I also like that you are not one of those woodworkers that uses incredible amounts of glue and have sqeezeout everywhere.
Keep up the great vids.
Thank you very much...glad you enjoyed the video. Wes
How did you attach the face frames to avoid showing the fixings please, Wes? @@WoodworkingWithWes
I love watching your videos! They are different then all of the You Tube videos I watch with your ingenuity you use is awesome. This is one of them that I am really interested in because my wife has been wanting a console like this and I really want to build this for her. Although I could probably use this video to do it but I am more comfortable with actual plans. Is there any way that I could get your drawings for this? My wife will be very happy!
Sorry...we are currently not set up to offer drawings although we are working on it! I am confident you will do great by watching the video. Happy New Year! Wes
Wes, your speech diction is broadcaster quality! I greatly appreciate being able to clearly understand EVERY syllable of every word as you go along. That might sound kinda silly but there's a lotta old hard 'o hearing guys watching, like me. Also, will the top split on ya someday with all the hard crossgrain glue and nailing? Maybe all the panels will expand and contract in unison?
Thank you so very much for your kind words. I really appreciate you visiting the channel. Wes
You’ve inspired me. I just need to buy a quality table saw
ingenious design... lovely workmanship. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I love how you show a nice online piece of furniture including the price, and then build a beautiful version of it yourself!
Listing how much the wood costs is also a great feature of your videos.
Not many cabinet makers break it down so clearly with this much useful information as you do.
Please reverse engineer and build other interesting pieces of furniture you see online such as coffee tables, end tables, sideboards, china cabinets, etc.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your comment and plan to do more of these builds in the future. Thanks for watching. Wes
I can't believe how much you sound like Bob Barker. Keep up the good work!
Wes - I'm new to your channel. Excellent craftmanship. I've been using Kreg pocket holes for years and can't do without them. Thanks for the excellent video.
Welcome aboard...thanks for your comment. Wes😀
It's great but to me I think it's too much wood, very patient to explain, I like that, also would you sell it to me for 120??😢😅😂
U forgot about his hardwork that he has done
Wes, the cabinet looks outstanding!! This project has given me several ideas of my own. Thank You!
First I want to thank you for the video and I apriciated you reveal us diy ppl how to reduce costs, already subed and liked. I just want to ask, isn't it better to put some piece in the middle just to prevent from bending from the weignt of the TV? It just looks that the top is too thin or I'm missing something in the mechanic?
Nice work - but is wise to put your fingers above / on top of the blade when you made the dado cuts ( accident waiting to happen ) for beginner DIY'S???
i wish you were my neighbor next door so i could learn a lot from you.. greetings from Holland
So nice of you....thank you so very much! Wes
You should do another one with internal wiring for a standard + usb grommet. I hate that even the most expensive entertainment centers never supply enough options to conceal wiring.
Preston. Watching this today, never heard of this guy. Tried to follow him on X. Where did he go?
El Profesor Jirafales se volvio Carpintero.
How heavy is it?
No sure on the weight...I would say less than 100 lbs. 😀 Wes
nice work, 40x2,50 = 100 not 90
yes...you caught me 😬 my bad. Wes
Looks like a great project. Scared me to death a 12:31! Do you always get that close to the blade?
how does the white stain hold up? i like how your camera person focused on the excess stain dripping to the side lolll..very nice build at a much lower price!
Was that really 40bf you used? Seems like a high amount. I would have guessed approx 25
It is necessary to also calculate scrap factor in your final tally. Wes
I really enjoy watching you. You are one of the best teachers I have known. Thank you. You really make me feel that my woodworking has possibilities.
Thank you very much...I appreciate your kind words, Wes
Really nice job. It looks beautiful
Thank you! 😊 Wes
This is a great video, it’s really well explained. Hopefully if I try to build this TV stand it will come out good. Can you consider making a tutorial of how to build a cat tree please 🙏🏻 they’re so expensive to buy in stores or online.
Hi...our website www.woodworkingwithwes.com is available for special videos.
Check us out. Thanks, Wes
The tools used costing more than the entertainment center from the store.
Whats the name and description of the stain and clear coat ?
This is a great project for the beginner woodworker. Although he used the tablesaw, a circular saw could easily do the job. Other than that, he used a random orbital, some clamps, and everyone’s favorite pocket hole jig.
Great video, nice build! Now someone is going to want me to build one for $150 because there is $115 worth of material and a half hour labour! I say that absolutely joking, but there are some people and we have all met at least one of them.
It looks very nice… solid wood as opposite of particle board comes with expansion/contraction problem… do you expect it becoming a problem say 10-100 years from when you build it?
The only thing that would critique is I would not use paper towels for final wiping off the stain they will leave lint or fibers in the stain. I would have used lint free rags that are made for stain only. And also have used a brush for final coat with a small nap weeny roller. Other than that looks awesome thank you for your videos. Awesome build.
I would like to do something similar but I am only using it for heavy audio components. I would like to have a center brace, so instead of an open top cavity I plan on having a support brace running up the center of the console. It’s probably going to take me a few tries to get the length perfect for the top brace/separator.
Hi...I think that is a great idea, thanks for sharing! Wes
Blödsinn. Überall die Löcher für die schrauben. Warum schlagschrauber? Das oberste Brett wird sich durchbiegen. High end in der Hose.😅😅😅
Love the tutorial and detailed instructions. I am a beginner woodworker and do much better following plans. Would be happy to purchase them!
That's a nice console, imagine building it out of birch plywood. No criticism but why not just gluing and clamping the middle shelf?
23:06 hahaha wait a second, when did he get his bit out of that pockethole?
Why did you skip showing the attachment of the face frame?
Yes...I sure should have included that! It ended up on the editing floor 😬 Wes
The art of woodworking is equipment, tools. You have the tools you can make anything. Great video though, it kind of makes one want to invest thousands in the tools needed.
$125 real wood with your own labor or $675 labor and $125 markup particle boards console that may last a short while if you are not careful
I love that piece of furniture and wish I had the tools to build it. When I was in H.S., I loved woodworking and wanted to do it for a career, but my dad didn't support the idea. Now, I'm almost retired and still have a desire. I guess need to get busy. I was recently looking at furniture for my home and just couldn't bring myself to pay outrageous prices for junk.
Thanks for the video. I have a question. At 11:40 min, do you use special saw blade to cut it? thanks Duc.
Yes...I use a stack dado set. Thanks for watching. Wes
All we need is advanced shop with top tools...and yes, job is made perfect. Thanks for sharing.
