Tip for when you need two consonants together: Let's use the example of "sickly." It would be written as "せ く り“ in CV hiragana or "se ku ri" in CV romaji. Now here's the trick: set "く" or "ku" to BRE100 so you won't be able to hear the vowel, and it will sound like a pure consonant. To make it smoother, set the overlap to 50 or higher and edit the envelopes to fade in more subtly.
Oh wow, no joke, I was literally wanting to make Japanese UTAU banks sing English for a bit now and then this pops up a few days later omg! I'm going to see if this works for me, I haven't tried it yet but I will in a little bit because I'm still watching the video atm... I'll let you know if it works for me! 🙂
Couple of notes: It helps to not look into each word in a vacuum, the end d in 'did you' is can be made a little smoother with a j. A similar sample is tr which is better as a 'chu ru' than a literal 'tu ru'. But don't be afraid to mess with the oto! I often oto in some vc samples or even solo consonants for the smooth ones like m and sh. Playing with the envelopes helps too, especially with making 'th' samples. For soft th's like in wrath I use s samples and for hard 'th's like there I use z's but if you're careful and you edit the envelopes to make the consonants quieter and more.. fade in-y? They sound pretty convincing!
As a non english speaker this tutorial is also really helpful since getting the pronounciation right is something I struggle with ! (especially word like "fall" or the "ing" sound I had no clue how to do these in Utau)
I’ve been wanting to get into using UTAU and while skimming across some tutorials I came across this one. Fr this is one of the most straightforward tutorials I’ve seen in awhile and everything was explained thoroughly.
3:23 Normally your would use that でぃどゆふぉおる ふろむえしゅうてぃんぐすたあ. It just works better. The point is. If you master Hiragana, you can make Japanese voicebanks sing in English. Just don't expect it to be perfect English
holy crap. literally just downloaded utau and have wanted to try it out my entire life since it came out. honestly this is how my brain hears english sometimes lol so omg im HYPED!!!
oo, those extra vc(is that right? i'm new lol) samples are beautiful! I wish I could figure out how to get different voicebanks to work on UTAU-synth, but for now I'm stuck with Defoko lol. UPDATE: I GOT KASANE TETO TO WORK HA

Your video helped me out so much but I am wondering how I get VCV voicebanks (I'm using matsuda as my Utau) to say the word around, I have everything mapped out as him saying aroun. But no matter how hard I try I can't find any substitute to get the D sound in there. Do you happen to know a way I would be able to?
oh yeah this songs my jam (Its my first time using utau I have no idea what im doing XD (later ) omg it worked i was able to make defoko say "hi I defoko " ( spelled like this ha i I de ha ko
I know this is late but some voice banks can read romanji AND hiragana! If your utau is staying silent when yoy write in romanji, the voice bank can onlu read hiragana. There is a plug in you can get that translates romanji into hiragana for you though!

i know this comment is 2 years old but do you know how to do this in open utau rather than regular utau

It works!
@@mrsutteroblivious that sounds great! I'll try it :))
And that my kids, is the birth of talkloid with vflower and piko...I don’t have kids.
Note: For certain accents, you can shorten that "Did you" into "デ-ジュ" (de-ju) instead of "デ-ディ-ユ" (de-di-yu)

Instead of a, use e then i. Like ei ei like a. But hiragana a is pronunciationed as ah. Sorry for bad english I am japanese
@@jamesovo385 Thank you so much! Your english is really good btw! :^)

you just sinplified something ive been confused over for months like no one else has been able to. youre a genius.
"did you" can also be "di chu" or "de chu" idk
i’d say di ju

you can also for consonant syllables use consonant-u at minimmum speed
That is true, and I plan on demonstrating that in a sequel tutorial, using a voicebank that *doesn't* have extras like Poiyo does. (๑´ω`๑)
lol, this looks like soo much fun^U^
6:11 oof. That won't sound that great.
Di -> でぃ
you -> ゆ
Fa -> ふぉ
Ro -> ろ
A -> あ
shooー>しゅ

I dont use UTAu but try to add a very fast du in there
[- あ][a ら][a う][u ん][n だ]
make the [n だ] very short and edit the preutterance to be slightly smaller until you can't hear the vowel
very nice!
your utau looks like a newest version XD
oh yeah this songs my jam (Its my first time using utau I have no idea what im doing XD
(later ) omg it worked i was able to make defoko say "hi I defoko " ( spelled like this ha i I de ha ko
defoko has a fo sound
How can you write romanji in utau in mine it stays silent.
you have to change the alias in the voice bank settings ^^
You have to use hiragana for Japanese
You can use both listed above me
