To all of you who say this is too hard and want an easier version-- Music is hard to make in general This is so simple compared to orchestrating music, creating lyrics (IN JAPANESE), and mixing both instrumental with vocals to make it sound pleasant
Personally this is what helped me . I got an instrument(in key of C. Same as piano, flute, violin , ect.) and played the vocal wrote the notes down . wrote those in the midi from sheet music. It converted niceley and I could edit the notes any way I wanted. However, Im screwed over for placing and translating the Hiragana version so I can put on the notes correctly.
For anyone who is using a newer version, step sequential is actually just the channel rack and and channel routing is the link selected channels. Hope this helped!
For anyone who has to keep looking up this video bc you keep forgetting the steps at the start, 1. Drag your on vocals into the playlist 2. Open up your mixer 3. Turn off fruity limiter 4. Link the on-vocals to the first track in your mixer by right clicking the first track, going to "Channel Routing", and clicking "rout selected channels to this track" 5. Go to step sequencer and delete all the default options except for one. Go to the one you didn't delete, right click, go to "replace", and then you'll get a list of everything you can replace it with. You can choose a lot of things, but this tutorial says to replace it with 3x Osc 6. Select the 3x Osc track and assign it the the second track. Repeat the same instructions in step four. Now you're ready to start the rest of MIDI-ing :D
I do this in my USTs so if you want to make your own UST and wanted to get the notes right, you can search for the piano version of the song. I recommend the ones with the "Tutorial Easy" thing, so it won't be hard to copy the notes. I hope my explaination is okay lmao
@@MoeJama420 its the easy piano version. easy means only the BASIC melody of the song is shown. its not considered stealing if its just the basic melody (unlike piano arrangements) if you want to make a ust the hard way then you do you i guess. sorry if this didnt make sense
i used cakewalk by bandlab instead of of fl studio, as the download link for fl in the dsscription stopped working, and i didnt want to pay to be able to save. it was also a lot simpler to make a track and i didnt have to mess with as many settings. it was completely free too! the only issue is i had some envelope issues once i uploaded it to utau, but i selected all of the notes and pressed acpt and that seemed to fix it.

Just want to give out a tip! If you have good pitch when you sing, then downloading a free tuner on your phone or something and singing into it is really awesome for MIDIing, just bc you don't have to search around randomly for notes :D

Or if you're more of a traditional kind of producer, Musescore is blessed with an export as MIDI function. So things like _All Star_ or _Fireflies_ or even _She Used to be Mine._ I love using it to write music, but it doesn't have the same preface as FL Studio, I suppose. And some of the sample sounds kinda suck. But hell, it's free!
okie! so, if you have trouble with dragging the audio in, the file must be an mp3 file. i had trouble with this before, but that was because the file i was attempting to drag in was an m4a file ^^;

As it is slightly different from the version she used, let me give some tips: The mixer icon looks like those DJ sliders thingies (Fader controller, apparently); To assign the channel you have to go to Channel Routing and then Route selected channels to this track; The step sequencer would be that Channel Rack thing. Eek I tried the BPM analyser but the tempo is always wrong :( I tried everything! Turning it up a notch makes it sound too fast and it may seem fine at first but eventually the notes get out of tempo. What do I do?

+Yuunarii Or at all. I am terrible at recognising the pitch of notes. The MIDI'ing section is the worst. I can get everything else done really easily, but goodness, the MIDI'ing is hard. Probably because I'm really tone deaf.
You likely have not downloaded everything, just reinstall. Also you do not need the full version for this (hopefully), but the thing about the trial is that you can't save projects, so you need to do it in one run.
Btw the FL Studio link is incorrect since I think it is an old pirated version. I recommend using the trial version of FL Studio 20 on the official website.

Usually most tutorials out there are not clearly worded right and the person doing the tutorial would ramble on too much and it gets me unfocused and discouraged trying to learn about something. yeah hi uh i am working in FL studio and have followed all your instructions, but when i am in the piano roll, it will not play the on vocal along side it. why is this and how can i fix it? both channels are on as well as their volume.
Are you sure you didn't accidentally disable one of the tracks within either the channel mixer, step sequencer, or playlist? Did you place both the music track, and your MIDI track on the playlist timeline?
Could this work in Audacity? Just asking because I have Audacity but I don't have FL studio. I'm fairly sure, the techniques will be similar, but I'm curious if it's too different? I'll stick with my tride and true LMMS. version 1.2 RC2 now has the same features needed for "MIDI'ing" as in FL, and you don't need to buy -pirate- it since it's open-source.

They actually are both the same file yeah, though one is the first part, and the other the second. Once you download and try to extract part one, it'll ask you to find part 2 to extract. If you only extract part 1, FL studio won't work ^^; As certain files will be missing.. Therefor you need to download and extract both files ^^

It just doesn't work anymore O.o The program is suppose to show up when you're running it as an administrator :0 Ugh.. Well.. Guess that means I gotta go and try find another portable download for FL Studio 11 XD Which is really hard cause it's waaaaay easier to just download a cracked version on some torrent site, but.. I don't think youtube would be that happy if I were to post a link to one of those XD But.. Idk if anyone is gonna answer me, but I'll try at least... I have such problem in FLStudio during MIDI'ing: notes don't have sound after some time. It's like I have short track for midi, but I followed the tutorial precisely, so I stretched track till the end of song. So it's like this - I click the notes, I hear them, but when I click the play button, the playline moves through the piano roll, everything is OK, but then notes suddenly stop making any sound after 5 or 7 seconds (I tried to make a midi for another song, but I had this problem again!). I have no Idea how to fix it TT_TT

UST is one of the last tutorials as this is one of the most advanced UTAU suvjexts there is I believe o3o Hence the high number.. but yeah... I just didn't feel like Makin the tutorials in order, as some take a loooot of time to make in comparison to others :0 But don't worry, 6, 7, and 8 will still be made, I just need some time ^^ 7 is gonna be about relsampler and flags, and 8 will be about plug-ins ^^

the BPM one is safe from what I know, but I wouldn't recommend the FL Studio download From what I'm seeing a lot of people (including me) get this specific runtime error from it and when I looked up the error it seems its related to a trojan virus being injected into your computer (at least that's what I read up on)
Downloading FL Studio is a pain because DepositFiles is a shit site (sigh) (PSA: If you can't download one of the files, it's because the stupid site makes you wait for 10 minutes or so before downloading more files. Wait 10 minutes, refresh the page, see what happens. Also you have to extract the files in order, they're named part1 and part2 for a reason)
Hi I know this video is like super old but can anyone explain the part at 5:20? I can't tell what they're actually doing there to match the track with the metronome so I'm confused
The bars on the time line indicate when the metronome sound will play. If you look at the waveform it usually shows little bumbs that indicate the rhythm of a song. If you align those with the bars of the time line you'll be able to sync up the song with metronome.
No, not like that. First I downloaded part 1 and then I extracted it, later I downloaded part 2 and I extracted it, so I have two separate folder. I have got a wierd program to extracting file too. Should I download it again?

you can use an audio mixing program to manually separate the vocals or just go ham and find some sites that can do that for you (there are a lot of sites like that btw)
Me, someone who has LITERALLY never used FL Studio: Eh, this'll be a piece of cake. Me opening the program: HOW DO I START PLAYING THE TRACK EDIT: Well, uh, i place the notes and they dont play. You can't change the volume of the metronome sound, however you can change the volume of your MIDI track and/or song, so I recommend lowering the volume of either of those two in order to hear the metronome sound better ^^
The download link was not put up by me. I happened to stumble upon it a few years back that I found to be safe to use. Most direct download links to these types of programs are filled with viruses. You could try torrenting the program too of course if you want something more straight forward.
That happens when preparing your MIDI for MIDI export. You can get the sound back by replacing the field which contains your MIDI track, with the 3xOsc again (this is the field that gets altered when preparing your file for export).
Did you first prepared it for MIDI export and then went to export > MIDI? It should work in that case :0 Some audio players might act a bit weird when trying to play MIDI files though :0 But it should work fine in UTAU ^^
Aran V. That is the MIDI file XD Whenever you play a MIDI file with an audioplayer it'll sound like this piano thing ^^ That means that the MIDI does include notes ^^ (Otherwise you'd only hear silence)

It would. If you have VOCALOID 2, 3, 4, Piapro Studio (I don't know about VOCALOID (1) or VOCALOID 5) you can import MIDIs the same as UTAU.

yeah hi uh i am working in FL studio and have followed all your instructions, but when i am in the piano roll, it will not play the on vocal along side it. why is this and how can i fix it? both channels are on as well as their volume.
Are you sure you didn't accidentally disable one of the tracks within either the channel mixer, step sequencer, or playlist?
Did you place both the music track, and your MIDI track on the playlist timeline?
Could this work in Audacity? Just asking because I have Audacity but I don't have FL studio. I'm fairly sure, the techniques will be similar, but I'm curious if it's too different? If so, I'll probably download this programme ^^
These tutorials are really helpful though, they really inspire me to make my own UTAU
Mixing and stuff can be done in audacity, however you can't MIDI in audacity.
I'll stick with my tride and true LMMS. version 1.2 RC2 now has the same features needed for "MIDI'ing" as in FL, and you don't need to buy -pirate- it since it's open-source.
I may be 2 years late, but this comment honestly helped me!

They actually are both the same file yeah, though one is the first part, and the other the second. Once you download and try to extract part one, it'll ask you to find part 2 to extract. If you only extract part 1, FL studio won't work ^^; As certain files will be missing.. Therefor you need to download and extract both files ^^

I have such problem in FLStudio during MIDI'ing: notes don't have sound after some time. It's like I have short track for midi, but I followed the tutorial precisely, so I stretched track till the end of song.
So it's like this - I click the notes, I hear them, but when I click the play button, the playline moves through the piano roll, everything is OK, but then notes suddenly stop making any sound after 5 or 7 seconds (I tried to make a midi for another song, but I had this problem again!). I have no Idea how to fix it TT_TT

Well...because I still have to make #6, 7 and 8 ^^ i wanted the tutorials to be in a logical order and I figured... making your own UTAU (#6) should come after making a cover.. UST is one of the last tutorials as this is one of the most advanced UTAU suvjexts there is I believe o3o Hence the high number.. but yeah... I just didn't feel like Makin the tutorials in order, as some take a loooot of time to make in comparison to others :0 But don't worry, 6, 7, and 8 will still be made, I just need some time ^^ 7 is gonna be about relsampler and flags, and 8 will be about plug-ins ^^

From what I'm seeing a lot of people (including me) get this specific runtime error from it and when I looked up the error it seems its related to a trojan virus being injected into your computer (at least that's what I read up on)

Downloading FL Studio is a pain because DepositFiles is a shit site (sigh)
(PSA: If you can't download one of the files, it's because the stupid site makes you wait for 10 minutes or so before downloading more files. Wait 10 minutes, refresh the page, see what happens. Also you have to extract the files in order, they're named part1 and part2 for a reason)
Hi I know this video is like super old but can anyone explain the part at 5:20? I can't tell what they're actually doing there to match the track with the metronome so I'm confused
The bars on the time line indicate when the metronome sound will play. If you look at the waveform it usually shows little bumbs that indicate the rhythm of a song. If you align those with the bars of the time line you'll be able to sync up the song with metronome.

No, not like that. First I downloaded part 1 and then I extracted it, later I downloaded part 2 and I extracted it, so I have two separate folder. I have got a wierd program to extracting file too. Should I download it again?

So.. First download both files, then extract the first part (it'll automatically ask you to extract part 2)

you can use an audio mixing program to manually separate the vocals or just go ham and find some sites that can do that for you (there are a lot of sites like that btw)

You can't change the volume of the metronome sound, however you can change the volume of your MIDI track and/or song, so I recommend lowering the volume of either of those two in order to hear the metronome sound better ^^

The download link was not put up by me. I happened to stumble upon it a few years back that I found to be safe to use. Most direct download links to these types of programs are filled with viruses.
You could try torrenting the program too of course if you want something more straight forward.

That happens when preparing your MIDI for MIDI export. You can get the sound back by replacing the field which contains your MIDI track, with the 3xOsc again (this is the field that gets altered when preparing your file for export).

It should work in that case :0 Some audio players might act a bit weird when trying to play MIDI files though :0 But it should work fine in UTAU ^^

Aran V. That is the MIDI file XD Whenever you play a MIDI file with an audioplayer it'll sound like this piano thing ^^ That means that the MIDI does include notes ^^ (Otherwise you'd only hear silence)
