Here in Indonesia we use mineral water with sugar and little bit of ginger during the night for the first 7 days.
I'll try this. How many inches (or cm) of ginger to a liter of water? And how much sugar to the liter of water?
I got chicks in the mail this spring that took 3 days instead of 2 to arrive. 3/4 fell dead in the following 2 days. Just like is happening to him. I want to have a plan to prevent that ever happening again. It was traumatic
Isn't too early for pallets??
Why didn't you start with starters mash??
Too early for pellets, use crumble first until they are little bigger. Love your videos bro.
I hatch my own chickens, after 1 full day of being hatched from the egg I’ll introduce it to starter. I’ve only been raising chickens for 6-7 months but I’ve never had a chick die from eating starter pellets.
Yes,or blend the pellet
Major Hatcheries that hatch millions of birds start them on pellets straight after hatching with no issues. His issues isn't pellets as they started dying before he had even fed them.
Its too early for pellets. How do they swallow such huge pieces? Use chick mash till they are two months old
@@makobuya you must have never raised a chicken before, or watched it feed well being a chick... either way they can easily ...
the problem my brother is hygiene try to get wood mill or shredded newspaper which should be replaced every day or added everyday
Get pre starter feed soon and start feeding them .. let’s hope for the best ..
I was thinking the same, the maze starter
Thanks Doctor for sharing your challenges with us!
Today i lost 10 birds out of the blue at 21 days when i thought they are out of danger!!! Have had a really bad day, but knowing a farmer out there faces similar challenges gives you energy to keep pushing.
Use rice husk beneath them and control temperature by covering the area through plastic sheet. Grind the feed so that chicks easily pick.
Dr Daniel its normal to have mortality, but be positive, God's help you and your chicks
Thank you
Wise man! Agree with everything you stated! Praying that they pull through! And tomorrow is a better day with all energized and saved chicks
I stand in agreement with you. I'm praying too. 🙏🏽
2 things you need to use more heat lamps and starter mesh feed not pellets and lay straw hey to keep their feet dry.
doc, you should use the much smaller pellets for them.just like what we do here in the phil. for that kind of age.. im happy seing you again surrounded by chicken doc.
Thank you
am always inspired by your passion and I have also started airing chickens am a Zambian youth, I have been learning a lot from you. God bless you, sir
DOC, i think that 72 hour long flight put a lot of stress on those chicks. the ones that you are / might be losing are the weak ones , the rest should do fine. i agree with you 72 hours is a long time to be with out water and food for little chicks, dont worry GOD will see them through this !!
I wish you could get the Jiko with a cover like umbrella it spreads heat properly in the whole room. I wish you could start with chick Mash. Pls don't give pellets
Hi Doc I understand you very well coz I had been through that situation. Lost 98 for a 1000. Realized that it was water also contributing to it so had to use some stabilizers. My Best wishes, don’t loose hope 👍🏽
I started with 210 lost 4 , have 2 in sickbay today is day 10 old chicken
DR Daniel I'm so sad too 😭 but they will be ok in next couple of days.
Mo England
Also must care about temperature difference. From hungeryyyy and Uganda.
I wish you the very best and keep that hope high. That's the spirit 👌🏽🌼🤍
Very sad news
But the expats says that of 5 to 10% is normal.
You should put the weak ones in another special brooder with some excess warmth
If you don't want to waste money on changing the feed to crumble since you purchased the pellets already just crush the pellets and turn it into crumbles, Good luck with them everything will work out all the best from America.
Im so sorry Bro. I feel your pain, I'm rooting for you from Ghana.
All will be well
Don't give up,we are learning and following
I am sorry Dr Daniel for the loss ...
Hope everything will be OK and I will see back that your smile ...from Ethiopia
All will be okay
Pellets is given at week 3. Give mash or crumbs.
So sorry for your Troubles my brother. Keep hope alive I know how you feel I just got in a small flock of broilers today to follow up my existing flock. See just sitting and watching out for weak or sick ones. I hope you don't loose anymore. 😔🙏
Awww poor babies.... I pray things get better for you
Pls give the birds first crushed food. The ones you show is for grown birds from two weeks they are not eating that's why they are dying. From Botswana
Have you ever used aloe vera? In Zimbabwe that is our go-to medicine for any sick bird.
Really? Useful with what kind of illness?
How do you use it Tinashe ?
Oh yeah, we got that in Kenya .
@@rethinkkk I can not categorically stay which ills but we use it for virtually all sicknesses. Try it and u will testify
@@akeem1221 Do u use it for your birds?
Bambi this is really sad my dear i really hope things turn around fast
Thank you
They r stressed, tired, can glucose work for them
Doctor..im from mauritius and passed through it me too...this year itself i lost around 100 chicks..and it appeared that your chicks are not of good quality...try to remove the paper and place your chicks on good wood chips...send me your email add will try to help you...dont lose hope always keep it up..
Good morning
and the glucose vitamin solution must be added to the water of all birds
Sorry Dr, kindly give them glucose, multivitamin, chick start and chick mash not pallets. All will be well.
Daniel daily change the sheets will reduce mortality
I agree
I raised my chicks without paper sheets, pls what is the use? Thank you
Best wishes Dr. Dan.
Finally ... I've Subscribed to your Channel
Never give up be strong bro
Two things I can see. The Feed, the chicks are too small for pellets and temperature. ¿ What is the temperature in the chicks house?
Dr Daniel I agree with the others. The area should be cover with black plastic tarp and also make the area cleaner. Their water should be sugar water only for now.
Sorry Dr. that you are loosing some of them but you are doing your best ... We are with you ...
Oh easy fixed problom. Just mix egg, Syrup and make them eat it and many will survive. It has alot of nutrition for them and helps them. In about 3 to 2 days some chickens will survive. ❤🐥
Im surprised with all your experiments to produce cheaper feed etc that you have not decided to hatch your own eggs. In my experience, even here in the U.S., every time i have to rely on another company it usually ends in disappointment. Of course it would be alot of work to hatch your own eggs but your chickens would thrive! You would have better quality control.. you would not suffer as many loses. Your farm would be self sustaining!! Thank you for the great content
Doctor Daniel I have chickens myself and one off the biggest problems I had was water contamination and food contamination with there fieces. I have used small dose off potassium pemanginat in the water. And my food feeders are basically old icecream containers small holes so they can feed and not stand in it. I do believe it had been a long trip for them i have created a area it's a old deepfreaz as quarinteen area a bite extra heat from lamps for my weak chicks. Just a few sajestions I love your vids and need to get black soldier fly I'm in South Africa the feed costs so much not up to standards always eather.
What a sad update, hang in there Doctor. Better days are still to come.
I lost 34 from day 4 upto 12 days due to deabeaking but adviced to give arleserly, livergen and pure glucose please try
The power of being optimistic ❤
Too crowded . Should divide into numbers of sections to avoid suffocation, food shortage, area for good rest
Farm up ilove your work bro
Great job, sugar water can help to boost energy
Sugar for many long please
We have a very fine chick feed for one month. I would wet your mix. I place pebbles in the water tray to stop them getting wet. Buy three incubators and start producing your own chickens in batches. I'm sure your grandmother could lend you some roosters.
Poop in the food? No no nooo dear. You may want to reconsider bedding. The only reason things happen...is because you make them happen. Best wishes with your endeavor sir.
That is sad bro. Be strong don't stress
first time looking back at ur video love it....
They are densely packed, reduce your brooder population, they stampede when you clap too
Made corner roung, don't let it be square danialll
I wish you good luck my friend
Am curious why you chose a supplier from Europe
Love your videos
Dr Daniel..thanx for this experience. But you dont need to clap yo hand to wake the birds up...just tie a kaveera( polyethene bag) tie it on a long wooden small stick. Use it to scatter the birds any time
I wish you a success from them
I'm from and live in The U.S. so it's morning for me
Lovely
Advisable to use chick booster crumbles if available...chicks eat more and recover and grow fast. Love your vids from philippines. Good luck bro
It is very normal considering the distance they traveled before reaching their destination. Within a couple of days with enough water and getting used to the environment, they will be ok. Experienced something as well
hi Doc, have you considered fermenting the feed for them? fermenting their feed pellets will make it easier for them to digest and they will get better nutrition.
How is it done pls share
Lately, you have lots of woes, sorry about that, keep fighting on,there are "good and bad days.."glad you are a doctor by profession..they kind of have a "thick skin and are not faint at heart..hang in there.
What kind of food can l feed the chicks to 1-7days
Pls use circular brooder to reduce chick lumping..
I want to know how you mix the vaccines either in their water or when they are weak.
You are the best
What vitamins are you giving please let us know
What are those pots of coal ? Is thats there heat source? Arnt they cold
I use starter crumble
how do the birds look from the inside?
The paper trays the birds are eating from look untidy
I think the feed size is so big. Change the feed in crumble form or find the pre starter or starter feed which is small in size and in crumble form. And also check the brooder temperature mostly after midnight.
The pellets are actually labelled prestarter. Strange! The temperature is okay in the night.
When are you gonna start cutting on feeding costs? Now or later? Because you have talked about fermenting their feed, 2. Using maggots as well as 3. fodder. I am really interested, I wanna know when you will start implementing the aforementioned. Thank you.
Good luck bro
Hey doc daniel, it might be that they havn't aclimatized yet to your local climate. .or they might be stressed and fatigued because of d prolonged trip. .pellets are big bits, u shud hav given them booster MASH first. .
Oh sorry about that. I love you're videos and I'm in Uganda as well. I was wondering, you did a video on black soldier fly, where did you get them and how can you help me get them.
No! Babies need crumbles. You need to grind it down. The mamma bird would break it down for them. You need to make it into crumbles. I buy mine already in crumbles.
Lots of chicks and they are healthy
Kenchick deabeak a day old chick thats where problem is,they started stress from hutchery this goes upto 2 weeks ,mine their beak turned red after that they die
All the best..Do you have workers helping you take care of all those birds?
Dr god bless keep in brooding how many birds do you have
I use growing meal works excellent
Your my energy
Are you sure the birds did transited before delivered to you. Are there direct flight from Hungary to Kampala?
How did these birds do .. are they ok now?
Keep updating us until 2 months.. we keep watching and learning.... i bought 100 but day 7 after vaccination, 8 chicks died...and day 14 more 6 died. N day 28 , 4 chiks died. After Folw pox( ndui) vaccination day 37 , 5chicka died.......nimekata tamaa..
I really pity you. After journey for 72hrs, you shouldn't have given them pellet, you ought to have given them Starter Mash, before then you should have given then multivitamins, water and gradually starter mash. I don't think they have much problem than dehydration and stress. Continue giving multivitamins and change their food to starter mash for upward of one to two weeks for them to stabilize.
Don't be depressed, everything will be alright.
All the best.
You should try to get crumble for baby chicks. The grains are much smaller than the pellets and I find they take them up easier.
Thanks
Add warm water to your pellets to soften
Chicks can stay a long time before feeding them, the first thing you'll give them could be water, glucose or vitamins
What about alittle oil on their bittom to remove to poo
Hi Daniel...I'm in Zimbabwe and would want to help you. I also have layers and I give my birds aloe vera juice diluted in water for the first seven days and then I also put bark from the lucky bean tree in water and give them for the next two weeks ( this solution is very effective my birds do not due from sickness because aloe vera and juice from the lucky bean tree bark boosts the birds immune system) you should try it .... Thank me later .
Happy to hear from my country sis.
I would like to learn more. Where are you doing your project in Zimbabwe
I'll try it

Ohhh very sad, lately you have lot's of woes...however,since you are a doctor,I tend to think they are tough at heart...MAY IT END WELL...KEEP FIGHTING ON.
Sorry, replied to you instead of FARM UP.
dr Daniel i would love to fly over there and help you to look after them, its a big shock for them, but its good what you doing really
All will be well
Oh yes, super shock but we shall be good
same problem for me too , bought 50 3 week old chicks , but iam losing 1 by 1 daily idk whats the problem , they look weak
