You can modify the wood on top of the feeder, make that wood rotate so when chick climb up on it the wood will rotate the chick will fall down final they will adapt to it.

Yes start with 25 birds. Get a safe space, a source of heat if electric or charcoal pot or gas, i hear some use gas. Then get the starter feed pellets and safe drinker. Youll be ok. Theres a regimen of treatment for birds for drugs and vaccines except you opt for the organic options which i am using now. Watch alot of youtube on starting with day olds. No fears, fears will stop you. Good luck💥

Hang your water & feeder from the ceiling, keep it slightly lower than the bird’s should, then you don’t need to change the water.
You can use some light change and a hook to easily adjust the height as they grow.

You need somthing to mimic the mother hen to stop them piling up in the corners. They are looking for shelter and would normally find that under the hen, They are getting a bit old now but next time have plywood or cardboard 3 inch or so off the floor so they have a dark place to hide out and rest between feeding. A few shelters spread about would reduce stress in the early days.

I have a question... Since you have some one already there, working, and you have plenty of room... Can you take a batch of broilers to generate some extra income? 900 or 1200 birds is basically the same, but at 8 to 10 weeks you harvest the broilers and free up the space for the chichs

is diatamaceous earth good for chickens?og for goodness sake mixing feed is easy.i like bit exercise. I milked cow's at 18 5am every morning! I swam 200blengths of pool etc how could you limit us like that! I was pregnant in middle of A level physics maths etc and had broken back. bending down like that encourages babies head to engage too. I was scared of being kicked but I liked work and the relaxation after exercise. feed is not to much its hardly any work at all but chick sitting is long hours that's all heat is tiring. they are happy chicks excited to be around you!

Forgive me if you already said & I didn't catch it but what breed variety are the chickies? I think hiring a lady is a wonderful idea, I have raised chickens a long time and I have noticed that chickens do tend to be more shy of men and take to women better.. I think it's the pitch of their voices that the birds like and the nurturing energy that women tend to have (no offense to the guys!). Good luck! They are looking great!

Don't be so gullible about women being so reliable and faithful... although companies love single mothers because they won't fight for their rights because they don't want to lose their income... anyway, being a woman... concrete mixers, hoes and wheel barrows are really useful for mixing large amounts of feed. Trolleys for moving hay bales and sacks...I just off load into smaller amounts.
