So happy i found your Chanel, you reminded me my childhood when we used to raise Beautiful chickens. I think, This might be a call to restart and raise the Beautiful Birds. 😍😍😍🐥🐥🐥🐓🐓🐓🤗🤗🤗
Congrats ....following from Kenya....I have been following you all through and finally I started with 400 layers...today am on day 10;had 15 deaths in total.go go my mentor....there is light.God bless
Nice work Doc. I raised broilers and had about 22.5% mortality, and the highest rate was in the first 7days. My supplier had advised me to always estimate about 20% mortality. So 15% is not bad. As you keep brooding new sets, you get better at it because of the experience you get. Poultry biz is not theoretical, as you practice you master the skills. I keep trying and brooding new sets regularly and I am better at it now. I think paraffin will help to clear the gastrointestinal area. And you watch the temperature always while they are so young. I love your videos. I hope to be able to do mine soon.
Dr Daniel, the birds are looking good and sorry so many were lost but after such a long journey, they were stressed. Glad you have your brother giving you great support. Watching from Jamaica
Hooray your chicks are making it. I have wooden boxes (40 x 40 cm) with the top of the platform slightly above the top of the sawdust so that the drinking pots don't get contaminated with the chickens scratching. Some people use pallets when the chickens are larger.
Hi everybody, Basile from Burundi here. Started with 613 Birds 2 Weeks ago and as usual I lost couple birds Around 26 1.5% I guess but for most of them I realized latter it was the over hit it was too hot for birds in a close room with hot light and pots I almost gave up until I found out the reason. Wondering what I could have done if I were you, Big up brother keep pushing can’t wait to learn more from you.
Hello just sending my greetings from California USA. Love the videos, I noticed that the chicks are roosting on the top of the feeders, its best to make a system that can raise the feeders up and down to prevent the birds from roosting and pooping in their food trays to avoid coccidiosis, and always make sure their water is clean 🙂. Cant wait to see the results Im working on a worm farm to feed my chickens and hopefully lower my costs aswell. Thanks for the videos
Doctor give the birds some magic water( combination of honey, garlic, apple cider vinegar and water) too. Esp when you have just brought them in. I use it a lot and hv less mortality issues.
@@skams9578 one liter of water add 2 big spoons of each honey and apple cider vinegar and 2 cloves of crushed garlic. Use warm water to devolve the honey easily. Let it settle over night. I normally prepare it before bringing in the chicks. So depending on the number of chicks u brings in just multiply the quantities. Because the above is enough for 50 chicks.
I have just started watching your videos, and I love them. I find them so interesting. I have 6 chickens at my home and I love them so much. Watching your videos really inspire me to start my own chicken farm. Thank you!
I'm so happy for the recovery of your birds shows you at working hard at this. Please don't give there are good days ahead. Your smile is back shaa. Jamaica is in the house I am learning.
Doc Daniel greetings to you an thank very much for your video about all the teaching that you are giving to us I really appreciate an I pray for God to give you the strength an energy so that you will continue to inspired us more an more in Jesus name ,I washing you all away from Cyprus
Looks exactly like chick starter crumbles to me (normal here in the US for chicks, ducklings, and goslings - they don't even sell anything smaller or what you call mash or powder), I raise quail and they are a lot smaller when they hatch and they have no problem eating it, the most important part is the nutrition in it, and they seem to be eating it just fine. in fact i save the dust left over from my adults that wont eat it and give it to my new hatchlings after a few days even they prefer the crumbles over the powder but it helps not waste it
Sure appreciate your honesty, you deserve to do well, totally agree with you that we have a lot to learn and your a great help,,, thank you for doing these real life videos
Thanks very much Dr I from Zimbabwe but I leave in UK in 2 year I'm going back Africa I want to do farm.more video please Dr I lov what u doing keep it up son .💪
LAYER starter is more for a teenaged bird. Crumble starter is for newly hatched birds. If they are to be egg producing birds you want to boost their calcium early so as soon as they grow just a bit you switch to LAYER STARTER, not yet adult food but one targeted for your laying birds. Crumble is the easiest for them to consume when very young either for layers or broilers.
I will explain the pre starter. It's a medicated chick started to help protect their little stomachs from germs that cause illness and also make it easier for them to eat. I'm also wondering about your water..you can't give them.ice cold water. It should be room temperature..it can make them.die if its ice cold. Based on your number of chicks your percentages are quite good all things considered. M y husband and I have enjoyed watching your videos.
Hey Dr. Daniel. Great news that the number of deaths of your little birds has drastically dropped to 1as per day 6 all from 65 in day 2. I'm glad you are positive and so passionate about poultry farming. God bless you
I have really learnt a lot from you about poultry. By the time I start mine I will be equipped with all the practical ideas that will help me maximise my returns on the farm.May be you need to crush them with a machine. Thanks dear
I have been watching your videos and found inspiration.i will be having my broiler chicks arriving on tuesday and i have prepared all the equipments, meds, feeds and brooders .by looking at you journey i have learned alot
There is that smile I've grown accustomed to when visiting your channel! So happy good days are back! I knew they would be! I must add, that the fact that your flock so quickly recovered from the situation shows your diligence and good husbandry. Yes, you lost quick a few. But some things are out of our control. I suspect there simply was no saving them at that point. But I believe you would have lost so many more if not for your hard work and efforts! Great job! I am so happy for you! I can't wait to see this journey! I believe"layer starter" is for older birds Luke around 8 weeks or so. You start laying birds on that so their bodies prepare for laying eggs. That is not chick starter. I bet they sent you the wrong packages. While they will be okay on it, it is not optimal for them. I don't know how much you have bought. But I would consider what to do about it, by weighing all the pros and construction of replacement. They can eat it just fine. You would be shocked how big a piece they can swallow. What's important is the nutrition and calorie and fat difference. Good luck! I can't wait to see you again
DOC, as for your starter feed it looks just like what i use, what i found is the nutrition guide on the back of the bags of feed, starter feed is softer then adult feed so that it crumbles easy for the chicks to eat, your loss rate so far is not so bad, when you lose 50% or more that is when you worry! i once lost a whole flock to vermin, wild animals, illness, you are now on the way to be producing eggs again!
Outamatic water drink's are the best I use big plumbing PVC piping it is mounted in the coop and there is a l bracket coming outside and one at the end I fill it like one every 4 to 5 days there examples on RUclips been most successful for me
Also, I think prestarter maybe the food that is suggested to help the birds prestart their laying once they are bigger. Most chick feed here has between 20-24% protein and is normally crumble. Chicks should also be given “grit” to help them break down the food. Check the protein levels in the feed that may be a good indicator what its really meant for.
Pre-starter cramps are below 2mm and contains chemicals to protect the chicks from diseases such as coccidiosis, etc. If it contains such chemicals, you have to phase off the cramps when the chicks are about to lay eggs or to be eaten.
Those pullets are very good though they look to be big. I used to get feeds from other distributors but when i tried that distributor the results were very good.
My home chicken has just lay five eggs and am thinking of keeping them but I don't know how to go about it until I found you Channel thanks for your info
Here in the U.S. the feed bags can be misleading.starter/ grower crumble is usually for chicks just born up to 8 weeks or 22 weeks depending on brand. I always start with crumble then switch to layer pellets. The feed you bought probably has the right amount of protein and vitamins.... your problem is the distance traveled
I really love watching all of your video brotha, keep it up. I've learned a lot from you and also you are so fun to watch. Stay safe brotha! LOVE ALL THE WAY FROM THE PHILIPPINES❤️
Hey Friend. Add cut grass to baby nd adult chickens. What they don't eat clean up with dirt nd poop together nd use as compost. Chickens look naked. Add some more protein. Feathers need protein. Add nutrients to baby nd adult chickens water or vinegar. Chickens love grass. I'm just saying they look naked but look healthy.
hmm i isn't chick starter and pre starter are different feeds? fist 30 days chick starter (these are very small feeds for chicks)after that is pre starter feed.🤔 ps. im not sure btw , there might be several kinds of feeds out there.
Daktari, you've done a good job.
To avoid fecal impaction, add some liquid paraffin in their drinking water. That's how we do it in Kenya.
So happy i found your Chanel, you reminded me my childhood when we used to raise Beautiful chickens.
