@@brianschmitzer6722 I have the same issue with having the original spines for volumes 1, 3, and 4 but the new one for vol. 2. Seriously considering getting a custom dust jacket printed!
This one might may be okay, though, since as many people have pointed out it probably won't be called X-Men volume 5. Assuming everything that should be in it is there (e.g. all contents of X-Factor Epic #1 other than X-F #9, Nightcrawler #1-4, Longshot #1-6, and New Mutants Special Edition), UXM will make up less than half the content of the book.
the amount of details you talk about this book shows clearly how much deeply you love X-men comics .. i will pickup this omnibus for sure
Love when omar does these Xmen reviews and keeps going and going and going, you really hear the happiness and satisfaction of him going back in time and talking about these stories.
I’ve been waiting so long for this one. It fills such a huge gap between Mutant Massacre and Inferno Prelude. I can’t wait to get my copy!

I was 13 years old when the first issues in this volume were released and I had been collecting Uncanny X-Men for almost 2 years at that point. I’m really looking forward to finally owning this one. Standard cover all the way.
Really looking forward to a huge Prologue to Mutant Massacre Omnibus! Marvel has proved that can do big books and this one wouldn't be bigger that AvX or King in Black Omnis!
I am SO happy that they kept the pop-colored cover that was solicited! It might be an unpopular opinion there but I don't like the version on the older printing. I can not wait to receive my copy! Should be here this week
I can’t imagine anyone choosing that DM cover for the art, only because it’s a DM. Standard edition is phenomenal.
I always go with the DM, but not in this one, they use the original colors so it was a must.

Yes! Pre-ordered this months ago. With this I now have all of ur x-men reading order part 1. I'm collecting but not reading. Building a marvel themed bookshelf and vowed not to read them until I have a shelf fitting of their glory!

@@imcyan- I'll read them...but only when I've earned it. Its also just with X-men. Everything else I'm reading. Currently reading WW omni, Death of Dr. Strange, Brubaker's Cap, Abnet & Lanning GOTG omni and if I have time wanna get to the Star Wars and Dr. Aphra omnis. I read book books too. Currently reading Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. So good. And trying to get through all the SW:High Republic novels.

I love this Storyline and got the original oversized hardcover years ago.... but this new MARVEL OMNIBUS Imprint will look so good among the others. I just have get that one and get rid of the old HC 😉

Oh man 100% on the sacrifice the X-Men had to make i had the same feelings when i read this back in the day! Super excited to be getting this book one step closer to getting a full run of Claremont UXM in omni format. Did not know about the reporters being real life people thats great to know. Missed the previous OHC but thrilled that its getting reprinted thanks again for another great review!

Great overview Omar as always !!! Been waiting for this X-Men story to hit the Omnibus Format. One of my favorite X-Men story's of all-time.
Around two years ago, while figuring out how to collect the Claremont run, I wrote down the wrong X-Factor issue numbers for this book, and was annoyed they left #18 out between Mutant Massacre and Fall. I have never been so happy to realize a mistake! Can't wait for my copy, and the inevitable Uncanny Vol 5 / Massacre Prologue to complete the run. Thanks, Omar!

Add my voice to those supporting the cover for this new version. Modernizing old comics with updated colors is almost always a bad idea.
I ordered the Alan Davis cover edition sometime ago. Heck I can't eleven remember when last year.
This was from the days when I enjoyed the x-men, when it was a must read and waiting 30 days was at times painful.

Must Say.. really Happy with my previous edition.. dustjacket, Undercover, spine design... The only improvements are in the more visible image on the back and on the thickness of the paper, but Just because of space reasons 😝
Sweet!! This is one I’ve wanted for a long time. I ended up getting the DM cover cos I love the Four Horsemen but I’m glad they put both covers on the actual book.
This may be a dumb question, but as someone that only owns UXM volumes 1-4, do these events double dip in issues or am I good to go ahead and order the event omnibuses? 😩
The omnibusses from Claremont's era that are titled X-Men Something Something don't double dip. Order away, dude.
Mind the contents of New Mutants, X-Factor and Excalibur. Those always double- dip, some more, some less.
Focus on the omnibus titles Uncanny X-Men and X-Men, they don't overlap in time.

So I just started my xmen journey with Uncanny Volume 1. I'm in volume 3 now, Beast has been blue since volume 1. So why is he back to big foot human in this omni ???

I think the chap who mapped this is Jeph York (not sure if that's their real name). He was quite prominent on the Marvel Masterworks forum back in the day.

(Jay RoC) I think this is an example of the recoloring beeing better than the original color .. I wish whatever color they went with on the dust jacket that they would of gone with the opposite on the actual book .
I reread the UCM issues a few months back.This was an era of XMEN that is unsurpassed.Nothing written these days can match up

In your commentary you said that you originally read these stories as they are mapped in this edition. I recently got the Deluxe TPBs Vol. 1 & 2 (2013) which has the two halves flip flopped - UXM/NM then XF/Crossovers. In your opinion, would you recommend following this reading order, or does it really alter the experience to read X-Men first then the X-factor arc? Thanks, I enjoyed your review. -A/F

Pretty stoked for this one. Not digging the single tone flat purple X-men logo on the spine though. Purple doesn't really scream X-Men to me. They probably could have turned the Fall of the Mutants logo right side up like it should be, so it doesn't look like it's awkwardly shooting off in a random direction.

I cna't wait for this, but I don't get why they didn't show the actual issues in the book again. It doesn't make sense when they did it with Massacre and Inferno but not this and Prelude.

Day one purchase. On another note, Omar can you please find out from Marvel if they really did lose the Conan license, or is the internet lying again. The Savage Sword of Conan line was slightly less than halfway printed and it would be a shame if that line of Omnibuses were cut short. Thanks for all that you do Bro!

inferno crossoverstories is highly worth owning though sad no one talks bout it great omni it is stories during inferno thus inferno is a trilogy omnibus!

Hi Omar! I have FOTM as a TPB across two volumes but it's mapped completely differently than this omnibus; seemingly in reverse order!
Volume 1 has the Uncanny X-Men issues, Incredible Hulk, issue 340 only and the New Mutants issues. Volume two contains the X-Factor issues, Incredible Hulk 336 & 7, and the Power Pack, Daredevil and Fantastic Four issues all in that order. Is that all wrong? Should i read volume 2 first? Thanks in advance.
Not really what they did is made you read uncanny first and since the series don’t intertwine it’s okay to read them that way.

Does this book contain the issues where the X-Men fight the Dire Wraiths? Are those issues, including the Rom cameo, omitted?

Has any single issue appeared in more Omnis than Incredible Hulk 340? It’s been in 3 different ones that I can think of.
You need to read uncanny xmen issue 200 the trial of magneto. Previously Prof X was beaten near to death by some students. He was supposed to rest but didn't..at the trial of magneto there was a battle prof X was dying (I believe Moira previously told Cyclops) At this battle on his deathbed (so to speak) xavier makes a reluctant magneto agree to take care of the new mutants and school which he does and then he is whisked away by lilandra and the shiar to see if their advanced medical facilities on her home world can heal him. He didn't go off with lillandra it was a matter of life and death
