CDP - God I loved working there, the Greatest ad agency in a superbly exciting period.
Ran B&H IGUANA at Odeon Marble Arch - blew the agency away 😉
Folk said "You will miss working in cinema with cinema people."
But worked with Hugh Hudson, Alan Parker, Ridley Scott and Micky Dolenz - yea right I thought.

Thanks, very cool, I wouldn't have found these in memories without any outside stimulation.

Yep, had those in France Cinémas too.
Seeing other comments, probably a big chunk of Europe.
Not sure I want to speculate on the meaning of the piece. any follow up ?

My favourite B&H Ad of that era was the one where this huge 'monolith' ( A gigantic B&H box) is brought up from the ocean and put on display in the British Museum. It looks like they used newsreel footage of the huge queues that had formed outside the museum in the early 70's to view the Tutankhamun exhibion. It ends with the crowds walking around the massive box with an eerie choir chanting in the background as though it is sending a signal - rather like the monolith in 2001 - A Space Odyssey.
The cigarette ads, which could only be shown at 18 or X Certificate films, reflected the enormous advertising budgets being thrown by the tobacco companies. Glossy, with excellent production values and creativity. One stands out as being probably the most un PC advert ever made and is for Silk Cut. A parody of Zulu ( the ad's working title was Garrison) , it was directed by Alan Parker and features a young John Bird blacked up to play the Zulu Chief. It's actually very funny and extremely well made but would be slammed for being overtly racist today. It's running time was quite long if I remember correctly. Even as late as 2003, it was rated by Campaign magazine, ( an advertising trade publication) as second in the top ten cinema ads of all time. Top spot went to Iguana.

I have run the Gordon's Gin add in 4 track mag stereo in cinemas and I have to agree the sound was amazing. I also have a 1958 4 track mag short which still has amazing sound.

Never had those particular adverts shown in the cinemas here in South Africa, but still had B&H and Gordons ads shown. They were always those grainy 16mm projections, with the most common ones always having major wear on them and often as well worn sprocket holes making them judder and jerk quite dramatically.
Do remember going to the original TRON on first release, and we had a nice unscheduled interlude around half way through, as the film jammed in the projector, and caught fire, with a nice melting frame on screen for around 3 seconds before the lamp was turned off. No xenon short arc projector, good old fashioned tungsten lamp in the housing.
