Yeah, sometimes those waves literally pull all of the water out from under you and there is nothing but sand....I really am surprised there aren't a LOT more spinal injuries at the Wedge.

My father grew up in Santa Cruz. He and his brothers used a flat piece of plywood that they found on the beach. Years later we made our own. Now you have these awesome guys. It's amazing how things progress.

But in reality this wave is nothing but crap..99.99% close outs with a 4 second ride. It's just one of those spots that have a lot of prideful kid locals who think they are badass and snivel over waves like they own the ocean and make it look like they got big balls when everyone is screaming from shore as they take off on face just to get slammed on face..almost as if they are dumb daredevils and stuntmen. It's all showoff
