Tried 2 aftermarket thermostats, neither worked car still tried to overheat. Went to Toyota and got a OEM thermostat for $41 and fixed the issue. They specifically said stay away from cheap aftermarket parts they dont work.
Just changed my 2001 Camry 4cyl thermostat with an genuine toyota thermostat. Turned on car, it wasn't opening and was running hot and the engine would shake now. Come to watch your video now and i think I may have not put the jiggle valve upwards. Do you think that may cause the problem?
My 2000 V6 Camry (original owner) radiator fans never turn on! Turns out the OEM thermostat opened at a lower temperature range but never throw an engine code. Few weeks ago check engine light came on with P0128. Install an aftermarket thermostat to get rid of the P0128. Guess what, the radiator fan came on, first time in 24 years!
I have a leak coming from the thermostat I think. Is there a way to get just a seal for the thermostat, or is it best to just change the thermostat too?
@@RBTheMechanic wait are you sure? i have a 2005 camry 2.4L. yesterday was the first hot day where i live and i didn't notice until i parked and came back and saw about a tablespoon of orange coolant dripping. opened the hood and confirmed it was dripping out of the reservoir's cap that has a tube to the radiator and a side nipple (where the coolant came out). figured it was the thermostat not working after 130k miles (factory). everyone has said to burp though...
@ Ariel Jefferson, did you get your Thermostat issue fix. I drive an 2007 LE and been having the same issue. I bought 2 Thermostat in last 5 months from Autozone and temperature gague keep go up pass where it need to be or it stays down near the C and don't come up enought. Let me know what you did to fix yours.

Best to replace it together also inspect the house could be bad as well
Are you allowed to share a part number? Just googling it brings up a variety of results.
Does it need the oval gasket between the housing and the block?
