How to refresh winnowers with Cowdung
Main reason we cow-dung is what we use and have used for times even before us is
    1. It is antiseptic. Because of these properties cow dung has innate ability of preventing the growth of disease-causing microorganisms.
    2. It’s very light weight . It adds no unnecessary weight to the winnower
    3. It does-not stink once it dries up
    4. As compared to clay and other soils . Cow-dung won’t cause any harm if a peck or two dropped in the food we have made . It is in rare occasions hence definitely better than plastic and clay
    5. While plastic May connect you to the manufacturer Cow dung connects us to the cattle that we rare
That’s one of the few advantages of using Cowdung
I hope you enjoy the enjoy and thank you so much for being here . I ashore you lovely loves alot

I’m in Europe and I remember when we had the BSE crisis in the 80s I think, where Creuzfeld-Jakob disease was in the news and beef was considered a dangerous food for a while. This is a disease akin to Motor neurone disease. And then….they announced that cows had been fed MEAT, can’t remember details now but I think it was leftovers from the slaughter process. Any right thinking person was appalled that a vegetarian animal had been fed animal remains….causing the disease process. African cows are natural creatures fed a simple and healthy diet free from drugs, chemicals and other animals. That’s why their dung is so safe and ours isn’t.

I remember that even as late as the 2000s, a friend in Berlin preferred to eat beef/burgers when he came here (and bagels and blue cheese dressing). I think that was why

I loved this. I love learning about your way of life. I have no problem with it being dung you use. Maybe b/c I’m used to poop on a regular basis…….lol. Granted I’m not usually picking it up with my hands…..at least not on purpose anyway…….but very interesting to learn about.

Cheers from Brazil! We do have winnowers in some more rural areas here, but I've never heard about refreshing them with dung, maybe with clay, but honestly it sounds like your method may be so much lighter after it's dry! Can these handle humidity well, or do you need to keep them in a very dry place to avoid rot?

I guess it's bc they don't use pesticides, so the cattle eats organic. I'm with you, though. Maybe going to Africa/Uganda would be a good weight loss plan!

Hmm. In Europe, we learn to wash our hands and, if possble, not touch directly with our hands cow dung or other animals poop. It can contain intestinal parasites egs and so on. This is why i really cannot umderstand how can this cow dung be used this way, there. Maybe people had used for need at some point in local human history, and you continue use it like this. But if I ccome there and eat fruits peeled on that thing, I really do not want to imagine what will happene with my health.

Our cows are not subjected to all the injections you subject yours to. You do not even have healthy soil. Here in Africa our soils are still healthy.so our animals poop is healthy.
