Dear Fred as said in a few of these comments Tiomkin's music is endearing and will linger in the hearts of true Tiomkin fans forever. Like Scorcese said the film is flawed but worth being seen if not for my favorite scene with Barrymore and Gish. Thanks as always my dear friend Fred for this selection.
Dimitri Tiomkin was born in Russia, immigrated to America in the 30's.. It is interesting that he wrote so many scores for western movies . He also wrote the music for " Lost Horizon" in 1935. And. The 1951 RKO sci fi. Classic, " The Thing from another world." His western scores are classic. One of my favorites is the music to." The Big Sky " 1952.
As a Tiomkin fan, surprised I'd never seen this Jennifer Jones picture. All I know is that Martin Scorsese on TMC said he loved it "even though it was a flawed film."
Thank You for this, the film content was degenerate scandalous nonsense. I like the Duel At Squaw’s Head Rock song, heroic music. The film itself was a waste of Gregory’s Peck’s Superior Talent!

Thanks Fred, really enjoyed your soundtrack suite of Duel in The Sun. It prepares me for my first viewing of the film, tomorrow night.
Another outstanding addition to the Tiomkin list once again thanks Fred

Me too, never seen this film, but particularly love his scores to The Unforgiven, The Big Sky, and Guns of Navarone.
