CORRECTION! For some reason I said "Rue de la Cornichon" which means "Path of the pickle" 🥒 (don't ask me why I said that 😅) But it's actually "Rue de la Corniche" and we highly recommend walking it when you visit Luxembourg. The views were incredible!
The glass platform of that elevator was clear when it first opened which was even more scary. It got scratched up and is milky now :( sadly at the Moment its closed for prolonged maintenance. So you were lucky. The selfdriving mini bus shuttle drives to the train station a few hundred meters further away. That train station in build into the hillside and is linked via a funicular to the Kirchberg area of town, which is the financial hub. Luxembourg people actually rarely eat typical Luxembourg food. That's mainly what the poor people used to eat 100 years ago. The posh people always looked to the refined french cuisine. But it's still tasty. The Kachkéis cheese: either you love it or you hate it. No middle ground. There is a saying: "en as nëmmen echt wann en pecht" which means that only if it stick like glue you know that you got the real thing. There are different versions though. I prefer it cooked up with cream and/or herbs. Luxembourg is very expensive even outside of the touristy areas. I was laughing at the "cornichon" instead of "corniche ". Very funny. I might use that to entertain my friends that I'm showing around next time 🤭😉
This made me so so happy!! I grew up in Luxembourg and seeing people visit makes me so happy. People often miss it when they go through Europe so I'm glad y'all experienced it. It's such a gem!
This, and your previous video in Vianden, are definitely some of the better Luxembourg travel vlogs I've seen from food/travel RUclipsrs. The south of Luxembourg (namely Esch-Uelzecht and Diddeleng) is sort of my second home as I grew up spending a lot of time there, and one of the things that I find about tourists is that they tend to believe what they're told by EU/Benelux tourism agencies and only book a day trip into the capital city. I always tell people to spend at least four or five days to explore, if they're going to stay in one region, or even to stay for a week or two if they're going to explore the rest of the country and/or the Greater Region. There's a lot to do, particularly during the times when there are cultural festivals, and if you love the outdoors, there are a lot of opportunities for very scenic forest hikes and mountain biking. Also, I always advise people to stay outside of the capital city as it's 10x less expensive, and the country is small enough that you're never really that far away from Ville de Luxembourg, nor any of the other bigger cities/towns, if you really need to access the amenities of a larger urban centre. Anyway, thanks for the great content, and hope to see you back exploring more of this overlooked little Duchy sometime in the near future!
Thank you for visiting our country!!! I am SO immensely happy you guys enjoyed your time here! Keep up with your gorgeous videos!!! Warmest greetings from Luxembourg! 🇱🇺💝
@@Theendlessadventure Wow, I want to ask You if you guys ordered Food at the Restaurant in English?? Because I don't know any French, and very little German. Did you stay at an Airbnb or hotel. ????????
I'm so impressed by the choices you make traveling the world. Luxembourg was totally fantastic! Those tunnels looked so fun to "get lost". I'm a big history buff so you have given us so much to learn and explore online. Traveling is not in my future but your videos are so much like being there. Thank-you!
The plum tart reminded me of my Mom. We live in NYC in Manhattan Upper East Side, heavily German, Hungarian, Irish, etc, neighborhood years ago. One of the bakeries used to have a plum pie or plum tart every summer in around August the plums didn't stick out like yours i think it was just all plums and a heavy crust took a bit to cut it, but absolutely delish. actually looked exactly like the one you ate. Mom used always be adventurous for trying foods from other countries even though she was born and raised in Ireland on plainer foods.
I'm from Lancaster County Pennsylvania and that cheese looks very similar to what people in this area call cup cheese. Cup cheese is not something I eat, but I remember my grandparents eating it. Lancaster county was settled by many Mennonites and Amish, who emigrated from German-speaking areas of Europe, so it seems possible that there is a connection between the two dishes.
WOW, That architectural detail in the buildings are amazing. We're such detail snobs! 😂 Ok those desserts look so good. I need to get one of those plums deserts to go with my STARBUCKS! LOL. Ok that cheese looked a bit scary. It's like Alison said.looks like honey! Eric the fact that your a bit picky with food and you liked that cheese. We're in. Great video. By the way, Alison love your blouse! YAY!!
My great uncle worked as an actor in the kazematten. He has a plaque dedicated to him inside it. Alot of my family lives in Lux so it feels like a second home.
What I like about your show is that you all do exactly what I do when traveling. i.e, I might have to stop by Luxembourg next time I go to Europe among other places. Cheers!
Wow, that plum tart looked amazing! That and the catacombs looked like some definite reasons to put Luxembourg on the travel list. We have actually explored some similar catacombs under Castle Hill in Budapest, Hungary. That was really fun too!
A collar of bacon is the same cut as a shoulder of pork, bacon cuts have different names to pork cuts. Years ago pigs destined to be cured for bacon were fed a different diet to pigs raised for pork.
You did that hill 'portly' style as we call it lol loved the elevator. Eric you could seriously be an actor. I wanted to see more of Eric the recluse of luxemburg! We are always entertained by your videos. Thanks for that..oh and we learn from you as well. :) we are just totally RUclips newbies :)
😂 Eric so funny! Loved your hair here, Alison! You always look nice but the style seemed different.😊 I love your adventurous spirits , and how you just go with the flow until you figure things out. Food looked yummy!
As a European I have always thought that Luxembourg is a funny little place and indeed it seems to be a funny little place with history and well... the meal says it all. Meat and beans... loved this vlog!
hi Guys , if you are going one more Time in Luxembourg City there is a Restaurant Named am Tiirmchen , it's a local Luxembourgish Restaurant and it's an hystorical place this Tower
Chemin de la cornichon = gherkin path. Chemin de la corniche= ridge path. The latter is the correct name. Other than that quibble, great vlog. Luxembourg is lovely.
Lol, funny caves bit 😁 Crazy how beautiful every shot is in this town. It feels like a live action disney pinocchio town. Yep, everything in that dinner looked delicious, including the alien cheese ;) Great share, James and Kim
The prices here in luxembourg in restaurants are really expensive, you actually were in quite afordable restaurant, for meat you pay around 26-35€ per person
Looks like a lovely city. Love the dramatic acting. Glad you made it out alive. lol! Gonna have to check it out for ourselves someday... and will definitely grab a map.
Loved this video! :) Keep the good work guys! The perfect mix of the editing and funny parts make your videos. You deserve way much more subscribers :).
I love this one!! The area of Luxembourg looks absolutely beautiful! 🇱🇺💗 The tunnels made me laugh! Not gunna lie I had a really good giggle 🤭 at it! It looks like such a quaint little stop and so sweet, I think I’m gunna add it to my list of countries to see and go explore!
Yeah, Luxembourg, San Marino, Vatican, Andorra are relics of a feudal past when Continental Europe was ruled by city states. When you know of that history it all makes sense.
5:00 ... Thought I was watching an episode of Downton Abbey for a moment Eric, a very polished Upper Crust English accent dear boy :) Smallest country in Europe, but home to the European Court of Justice, the highest judicial authority in the entire EU. Love your travels :)
August in Northern Europe...Everyone pretty much takes the month off - even local shops! Can be frustrating but I admire their healthy attitude towards a good work/life balance. Coz hey, wtfs the point otherwise?! Also terroirs very roughly translates to region - so regional plate
Uncle Chuckles They go on holiday. Some stagger it with July but basically yea. They flee the heat, park themselves on some Mediterranean beach and enjoy the summer along with everyone else. The main tourists sites are still covered but office workers, your locally owned shops & restaurants (as in this case) shut down. Guessing they don’t value the € above living. It’s a good attitude I think. I’m a Brit so seemed odd to me at first, lazy even, lived in Brussels for 5 years (thanks Brexit) but I thought about it and decided YAY THEM! Every summer when I walked past my CLOSED local grocery store, boulangerie, boucherie, fromagerie, fav Ma & Pa restaurant etc i was cheering for them on the inside.
What if you guys like, package the air wherever you go, and you can ship it to buyers or patrons. So they can get a whiff of the air where you were from lmao

Of course! The staff speak English in most of the restaurants here, especially in the capital city. There are a few rare exceptions though…
Alison, you were right. We definitely did LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!
God the beauty in these places is unreal!!! I want to travel so bad!!! Thanks for taking us with you!! 😍
Of all of the places you've visited, I think Luxembourg has won my heart the most. Might book myself a flight.
Nice job! I've lived in Luxembourg for 3 years and have to say that you've really done it justice.

I think that what we Brits call ‘broad beans’ are known as ‘fava beans’ in the US.

We use both terms in the US, but you are right, Fava is our FAVorite term for them...
Alison you were right.
This was a fun, goofy video.
