  • Jobs can be hard for everyone, but for people with ADHD, it can seem impossible. There's one thing that a lot of us do that causes us to not be able to find a good job with ADHD.
To see my video about blaming Sin on ADHD:
    • ADHD is NOT an Excuse ...

    You: “I got fired.”
    Everyone with ADHD: “Aaaaaaaaand?”
I don’t know a single ADHDer that hasn’t been fired from a job.
When an ADHDer says that they’ve been fired, I like to tell them, “You weren’t fired… your dream job is out there and your employer just gave you a push so you would go find it.”

Well, I believe in God’s total sovereignty over my life. His providence is what has led me to where I am now, and it will lead me through to the end 😁 I think that’s a great way to look at it. But I’m not sure everyone with ADHD is thinking “Aaaaannndd?” Lol that was the MOMENT I got fired-it was a very vulnerable moment. My intent was to be transparent with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope it came across that way and not like a pity party lol actually I said a similar thing to what you said later in the video. Did you watch the whole thing before commenting?

      @GoADHDGo 2 года назад +1

@@IHaveADHD LOL! Yep, I watched the whole video before commenting... then again, there was a bird on my window sill while I was watching the video so I may have missed some things.
What I meant by "aaaaaaaand..." is that everyone I know with ADHD has been fired from at least one job, so it's kinda like saying that we all can relate so we're really not surprised when someone with ADHD says "I got fired". It was my feeble attempt at humor sans coffee. :)
And yes, you were very transparent. And nothing wrong with pity parties. As a friend once told me, "Pity parties are still parties."

@@GoADHDGo Lol! That makes SO much more sense now that you explained it! :) And I can relate to the pre-coffee jokes problem! Thank you for explaining :D
I like that. Yeah, maybe now and then it's okay to throw a pity party! I just want to be as transparent and connected with my audience as possible. I hope to build a community!

@@IHaveADHD You'll definitely be able to build a community. You're in a very unique niche and I've only seen a few channels that are based around religion ADHD.
Think about it... there are over 37 million RUclips channels and only a few that are doing what you're doing.
I'm not sure what I'm doing. But I'm having fund doing whatever it is that I'm doing.

@@GoADHDGo I can tell you're having fun! I think that's something that a lot of people can really relate to and enjoy!
As much as my ADHD brain would LOVE to do RUclips as a job.. mainly because it works so well with my brain.. I will be totally content to have 100 (or less) subscribers if they are all involved with me and one another. That so far is the most rewarding part.

I can keep a job, and currently have a great job, but I have been fortunate enough to have a lot of grace from employers-I do think that is ultimately by the grace of God.

Please keep making these videos. I think this is a need for a lot of people, and it's something that you can't find a lot of information on out there. ADHD is real and I'm scared that a lot of churches think it's not, or that it's just an excuse. I don't want to find excuses, I just need more strategies that work for my ADHD brain! Sadly, I feel like I have no choice but to search in the world for answers even though I know that some of those voices will not align with my values as a Christian. It's very frustrating and discouraging.
Thank you for making this channel and I pray that you be encouraged to keep going. God bless!

Holly, I've been gone for a while (see new video to see why), but I'm back, God-willing!
I agree completely! I think most honest ADHDers, especially true Christians, are not wanting excuses. I think we all just want to be functional, and to know we aren't alone!
I am definitely encouraged to keep going! :)

I likely have ADD. I’m not officially diagnosed, but doctors are pretty sure this is the case. So I have the attention deficit with little to no hyper activity. I feel like I just can’t get my life sorted. I don’t know where to turn and even after the long process of trying to get accepted, I have a good few months to even a solid year until I’m terminated. I really want to provide for my family, but ADD related problems often show up at some point. I often understand why I get fired, but I don’t understand why I never get the memo until it’s too late. I usually don’t know there’s a problem until I receive some kind harsh warning which is usually followed by a quick termination after a replacement is found. My employers also seem to be confused by me. Sometimes I am amazing at my job, or am showing a ton of growth, and then I’m terrible at doing everything. Then I bounce back all for that process to repeat itself. All it takes is one or two bad weeks for everything to be turned upside down in the eyes of my employers. I can explain all I want, but at the end of the day, it’s about performing the task at hand. I fully agree with that, but it doesn’t make things easier to handle.

In my job I have constant chaos and activity. There's always something urgent or something interesting. I've been able to move around and get involved in different things. I think that helps. Especially compared to my previous job.
So I wonder if looking for jobs with higher pressure that other folks might struggle with is where folks with ADHD can thrive. Being a paramedic or something. Do you find pressure and chaos is something you like in a job?
The ideal would be to find a job that constantly gives:
    Novelty
    Urgency
Meets our develops into a personal interest
    Is challenging

@@IHaveADHD Yes, I did. I’m a former Christian because instead of sending my messages into the dark, I send them to HR. Then a lawsuit will be issued if they do not make accommodations. Because people who aren’t acting lawfully need to have their finances, and abilities to entangle other lives stripped from them.
