    I'm in the medical category. My cortisol is too high overall and is higher in the evening than when I wake up. And I have tachycardia as a result. But I know for an absolute fact that getting outside and getting sunshine and fresh air is the single best way to jump start my dopamine production. I always feel my best when camping. Any tips on how to replicate the dopamine of the great outdoors even when I don't have the luxury of taking a tent out to the foothills every night?

    • @IHaveADHD
      @IHaveADHD  2 года назад +13

      I'm so sorry! I'm just now coming back to RUclips!
      I have so much catching up to do, so It might be a while before I could make a video about this specifically, but you definitely should tell them like you said.
      It's hard to answer this without a great deal of research and studying, especially when I don't personally know you, but here's something.
      If they are good, Christian parents, you should be able to tell them honestly that "Hey, I really need your support in this issue." Any good parent wants to help their kids. Also, maybe consider trying just counseling first. Don't be in a rush to get on medication. A lot of the time, you can learn coping strategies from a counselor without having to take medicine. I'd say be patient with them. They may be set in a way of thinking that will be hard to break, but thankfully that's not your job. Your job is to express your concerns and needs to them, and even more so to God. God cares for you so much and He is using ADHD and even your parents in ways you may never know.
      It's been a month since you commented. Any updates?

      It's called adhd paralysis. One person said do a count down and simply get up and do. And also be okay with doing a crappy job. We adhd ers tend to get overwhelmed in a sort of ocd way just thinking of what needs to get done and we exhaust ourselves with those thoughts and end up just sitting n thinking instead of doing. SO accept that you'll do what needs to be done even if it's not perfect. Blessings to you all..this boat is rocky but we won't sink ...God is with us!!

    Not only can exercise help with focus, but it can be fun once you start seeing changes in your strength and physique. I dropped down to only doing about 20 pushups in a set last summer, but now I can push myself to do a lot more. After training with many Australian Pullups to re-learn regular pullups I barely have back pain. I can't wait to see more physical changes. Anybody interested, but not into gyms should learn and try some calisthenics.

      Your brain is part of your body. If your legs didn't work properly, you would use a mobility aid, right? As in, crutches, a cane, or a wheelchair. Or if your vision is bad, you would wear glasses. It's the same principle. It's not a sin to take medicine that allows you to manage a neurological disorder.

    • @IHaveADHD
      @IHaveADHD  2 года назад +3

      Allan! Thank you so much. I’m just hoping I can be faithful in it!
      I’ll have to do research for this one. It’s a great question. One tip I have been doing myself is when I get anxious and overstimulated, as cheesy as it sounds, I breathe out really hard, and then breathe in slowly with my eyes closed. Kinda goofy, but it works for me. Helps me kind of reset.
      Obviously there’s prayer, but I know praying isn’t always doable BECAUSE of the overstimulation. But I always try to say a few short prayers like “help me” or “give me strength”-that kind of thing.
      I’m sure there are lots more ways to overcome it. I’d love to find out ways as well!

      Have you tried other teas? Make sure you’re not going crazy on caffeine unless you A) already drink tons of caffeine and are fine, in that case just continue. (I wouldn’t recommend continuing to increase your intake indefinitely) or B) have spoken with an ADHD counselor or a doctor. Be safe! 😊

    Read Gabor Mate: ADHD is trauma from childhood. Your inner child was hurt by something very early on, use God’s love to give yourself to your inner child, try to recall the trauma and give yourself love.
    This can heal the afraid child inside that is fighting the adult in what he want to do.

    Journaling is that the same as keeping a diary? I not speak english as my first language. If it is like a diary is it possible to do it in some kind of voice thing? So instead of writing you can talk? And can anyone suggest me such an app?

    • @IHaveADHD
      @IHaveADHD  2 года назад

      Yes! That's pretty much it. I'm more talking about writing down prayers to God instead of just your thoughts about the day, but it would work the same as a diary.
      You seem to be very good at writing english! But you don't have to journal in english by any means! Write in your native language. God can read all languages ;)
      One tip-If you're considering talking into an app, you could really just pray out loud. This is just about how to focus while praying, so that we can pour out our hearts to God better. There is no one set way! :)

    • @IHaveADHD
      @IHaveADHD  Год назад

      Hey! Thanks for taking the time (I hope) to watch my video! 😁
      Is that how you were treated growing up? A lot of people have had similar experiences I think, even if you haven’t. Kind of stinks. ADHD is where you’re not getting enough blood…? oxygen..? (Can’t remember right this second) to the front part of the brain making it hard for you to get enough dopamine from everyday activities. It’s an actual thing-at the very least, the symptoms are very very real. I’ve met too many people who have these symptoms who are very frustrated with themselves and the world around them to think otherwise.
      I do think that the medical industry doesn’t have our best interests at heart all the time, which also really sucks.
      Either way, I’m so grateful for you being here! 😁Thanks for at least engaging on my channel! Feel free to hang out with us!
