I know what you guys are thinking, “where’s Mitch?“ I’m sorry to keep my fans waiting. I just had a baby boy and I have been too busy showing him all of my favorite Brad moments. His first words shall be “Laser Brad”
BEAUTIFUL TRIP FELLAS! ALL THAT WOOD CANDY! THE POSSIBILLITES ARE ENDLESS! CONTINUE TO MAKE MAGIC HAPPEN AND CHARLIE IS ADORABLE!! WE WANT TO SEE MORE OF CHARLIE TOO!
The unexperienced eye is going to look at that maple burl and think, "That is complete trash." Anyone with even an inkling of experience with wood knows that much burl is a freaking gold mine. I can't wait to see what you guys do with it.
There was a huge piece of maple burl washed up at a marina near me and I wish I had a way to get it and process it so bad, it could be gone by now but it was such a nice piece just waaay too big to move by hand, prolly a few thousand pounds at least. Was telling the people I was with how it's easily a $10k+ piece of wood once it's all processed and they had no idea they thought it was just a regular hunk of wood
Dylan, so excited that we have our maple burl slab already picked out from this rare log. We cannot wait to have you make it into a conference table for our new office/warehouse building!!
That place was like all your Christmases come at once. My fingers itched to touch n run fingers over the wood, my nose wanted to smell the wood as my eyes drank in the raw beauty. Whatever you make will be awesome. Love Charlie he has the same name as my last dog that I still miss.
Oh wow what a show!!!! I’m at a lose for words. So much inventory. So much unique, unusual, one of a kind, beautiful lumber. But what really blows me away is there’s a football field of it. Just a once in a life time experience. I’d put it up there with when I went to the “Louvre.”
What a gorgeous maple tree, with some amazingly tall n' wide slabs coming from it. Even the smaller ones will make incredible furniture or other project. Just think how many homes that one tree will end up decorating for years! Not just for the people that commission the pieces, but for the next few generations that inherit the projects you guys build, Dylan
Great as always! Quite amazing to see some of those chunks of wood. Once in a lifetime for sure. Just like seeing some of the old trees my Grandpa used to cut down with a few people helping.
Awesome watching a bunch of guys geek out over a high capacity forklift that is smaller than the one I operated for 10 years at a lumber mill. I've seen those things tip over on to their forks by carrying too much weight, or stopping quickly with too much weight.
@@BlackForestWoodCo Oh yeah. I watched a friend tip over on to the forks, lose his load, then tipped back on the wheels. He was screaming so loud, I could hear him inside my cab (closed doors). When he tipped back, his lift bounced around on its wheels, and his doors flew off the hinges. Very chaotic
I can kind of understand why you guys are so successful, you are so appreciative of your partners and dont hold back back on compliments. Thank you for the lesson. 👍
13:09- I'd like to take a 2 inch plank off the top of each of that node's layers, cut ... three inches off of the back and mount them as shelves. Maybe against a wall, maybe on a larger upright slab of live edge. With a slab backing that set, you might as well put the other slabs from that node on the back. Double sided shelves. The three inch deep cut-offs might make good handles or small shelves.
Charlie! You are one of the most adorable doggos in the world! What a good boy! Love the tour of the wood hoard! Wish I could afford something done by you all. Retirees usually don't have that kind of money! LOL Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
Hey Guys, Thank you so much for this . What an amazing place. It's a cabinetmakers wet dream. You have just made an old cabinetmaker very happy. It is always good to see all this rare and old timber being used and not dumped or chipped for particleboard. BFWC is an industry leader in making one off amazing furniture from some really great timbers and some more tours of the timber yard's would be great. Waitting for all this timber to season plus shipping and delivery, then deciding what to make with it. You really need a lot of patience !!! Thank you for the tour, if you need someone to carry the luggage next time, I could be available! heh heh. Cheers Michael.
Wow! Fabulous slabs! Look forward to seeing what you do with them. You have inspired me to take the plunge at epoxy table making. Looks like I will have to get my resin and finish order ready for you guys. Love the content. Hey Charlie! 🦴🦴🦴
This was a very enjoyable video. I love listening to you and your dad and others rattle off ideas for the different slabs. I can't wait to see the future furniture you will be making with these slabs. Thanks so much for sharing. Give Charlie a scratch behind the ear from me. lol
Hi there Charlie 😍💞 Wow - this was a beautiful display of wood! The burl is awesome. What potential, watching this is like being a kid in a candy store. Recovering from a work accident, this just brings a smile on my face. The second time I got a smile on my face in this clip - you guys brought Charlie to the camera . Great call ❤️ He is such a joy to watch. #keep_posting_Charlie 😃
Do you guys run across any Bog Oak? Do you ever do any furniture with it. I understand that they can sometimes get as old as 500 to 1000 years old . Buried at river bottoms and Bogs. Black wood thats very hard, but also very beautiful.
Oh my wow!! That is the most amazing log and grain I've ever seen. The only thing that even begins to compare is matumi. I wish I could afford even just a small slab from that log. I always wonder how you guys find some of the stuff that you do. Great find!!!! I wish you guys put out a new video everyday.
Wow thanks sooo much for this video! I have cam from black tail talk about these guys and this place is crazy cool !I would love to have a collection like this! These trees are amazing! Its to bad it takes so long to cure, but defiantly worth the wait !
" Imagination Has No Boundaries " stunning , nature is unique . If money has no limit and you found again one of a kind slab, what would be your ultimate build/project/custom you like to build ?
What a treasure trove. I'm gonna redo my master bath one of the years and the dual sink counter top will be a nice slab. I want to find a slab that has a natural sharp 135deg bend for the shape of the room and I've noticed that Monterey Cypress has that going for it which is a local tree here on the Cali central coast. I bet I can get the perfect piece locally but I've seen cypress slabs stacked and dried and unfortunately seems to crack up too much. I wonder if it needs a specific drying procedure to keep that species of wood from spitting.
No need to feel like that, quality is the most important aspect! It doesn't matter if it's a coffee table or a conference table! We would love to build you a dining table though!
That burl makes me think you should do a collab with Blake McFarland of BM Sculptures. You make the table base and he does the sculpture. Love your projects!
I'm a master cabinetmaker...and facetiously...I got a hardon just from the "preview pic" of the damn log. I could build one hell of a beautiful table from this sucker. You guys do some very cool work. but as a cabinetmaker who doesn't do epoxy...I could build a bitchin' table out of this thing. Now on to the show! Will add my thoughts on your build after I watch the video...everything said so far is BEFORE seeing your video!
man i would love a table from you guys, just a really nice 3.5'-4' x 8' table out of either Bubinga, American Cherry, or Brazilian Rosewood. though i know for a fact i don't have the money to afford you guys
Charlie, glad you allowed your humans to show the rest of us how they go about procuring wood for wonderful projects. As always, a fantastic video! Glad you were able to source the tree that was processed, as well as being able to pick up other slabs for future projects. Thanks for another great effort!
You can definitely tell those forklift operators have lifted just a few slabs like that. They are going to be pretty when they are done, but that wait!!! 😢😢 But better safe than end up like blacktail and have a ruined slab.
I know what you guys are thinking, “where’s Mitch?“ I’m sorry to keep my fans waiting. I just had a baby boy and I have been too busy showing him all of my favorite Brad moments. His first words shall be “Laser Brad”
Wow, congratulations Mitch!! Hahaha, those will be the perfect first words, I hope you get that on video

We'll show more Charlie!
That inventory is unbelievable!!! I wouldn't want to leave without half of it. I would just stand it all up and look at it.
That’s exactly how we felt! It’s hard on the bank account for sure 🤣

2 years!!! I hope I live long enough to see what you make out of this!! Awesome!!!
Thank you Doug! Most of the waiting is done now! It’s likely going in the next kiln load and we’ll have our hands on it this year!
Was thinking the same thing, I'm at that age where people are starting to drop around me, I can't be sure I'll make 2 years. 😅
I remember watching your visit there. October 2019 . Beautiful wood.
Yes!
Thank you for following along all of this time 😊
Hi Charlie, great to see you.
Wow!! The size of those cuts. The tree must have been amazing.
I know! I can only imagine what it looked like standing.
Unfortunately it had begun to rot from the inside like most big maples do
Great as always! Quite amazing to see some of those chunks of wood. Once in a lifetime for sure. Just like seeing some of the old trees my Grandpa used to cut down with a few people helping.
Thanks Jake!
Awesome watching a bunch of guys geek out over a high capacity forklift that is smaller than the one I operated for 10 years at a lumber mill. I've seen those things tip over on to their forks by carrying too much weight, or stopping quickly with too much weight.
That would sure be scary having one of those beasts tip over

timber nerds in heaven, love it

Nice to see Hyster-Yale forklifts that are manufactured here in Greenville, NC. Loving all the wood too.

Thank you Maddie 😁

If I need a table in 20 yrs.... you're my guys!! Love ur work, all kidding aside.
Beautiful wood. I would be geeking out!
Welcome back Charlie - you're such a good boy!!
Amazing slabs. Hi Charlie. Missed you little guy. When we sell Manhattan apartment and move to 5000 sq’ house I’m coming up to visit.
Wow, waiting 2 1/2yrs to finally get the wood back, thats insane!

Charlie! his appeareance was the best surprise in the end.
Lol you guys are like kids in a candy store but there are some majestic pieces there. Can't wait to see what you do with what you've purchased.

Enjoyed the video. Good to see an appearance by Charlie.
Thanks John!
Love listening to the Canadian accents! Charlie is a nice addition to the video. 😉
10:39 that looks like a big angry bear…..wow.
And sorry Charlie, you should always get a special mention. G’day mate 🐶
Wood nerds are my favorite
we love you Charly
Love, all of it, if I had a house big enough.
That’s a score of a lifetime for sure!!
Definitely!
It’s like watching a documentary about prehistoric nature
the footage around 14:50 +/- 1 min is woodwork porn. i mean the whole video would make any wood worker drool. brings a tear to the eye.
A bad addiction is an understatement 😂😂😂 but what an awesome addiction!! Wood is the most beautiful thing ❤❤
Wow just amazing couldn’t imagine buying slabs like that it’s got to be crazy cool. Can’t wait to see what you guys make with them. HI Charlie 👋
We can't wait to see either! Thanks Jim!

if i won the lottery, i would build a house, around one of your biggest tables hands down.
We would love that haha!
Awesome❗️very lovely, thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching and commenting 😊
This is a great video on buying slabs and cost involved!!
How do you price you tables?
Would love to see how you go about doing that
That place is something else
it really is!
So much wood! I couldn’t imagine seeing all these slabs, incredible. My reaction would be what yours is lol!
It’s like sensory overload spending a day there!!

Insane is all I can say 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 and the aroma had to perk up your nostrils around all those different types of fresh cut slabs 🤣❤️
It sure did!

Went to your site the other day just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.
Charlie...... You're gorgeous! And yes, you should be featured more.
Me thinking how many pens I can make with all that burl. River pens, of course!
I just did the math, you could get roughly 142,500 pen blanks from this log 🤓
@@BlackForestWoodCo You didn't account for casting the live edges. 160,000 at least. 😁😁
I am confused. Those slaps that are stored in the rain - do they still need years of drying again ?
Maybe the one on top will need some additional drying, but typically they are not stored outside long term. It also usually rarely rains in LA

You guys are so funny, Indiana Jones never found a better treasure than what you found at GL Veneer. I know I'd be slobbering over every slab too.
Fabulous..hi Charlie🐾💕🎈

I can’t stop laughing about the “Cam build a table and used our ceramic” 😂😂
Yay, Charlie!

can you make big modern pivot door with wood like that with epoxy?

Well you can make a lot of doors from that wood
Yup! Haha

let's make something even more beautiful out of it :)
why do they leave wood to dry outdoors in the rain? seems like that wouldnt work?
