I paid $60 including international post 2 years ago for this model - it is way better than I ever expected. My local watch specialists was shocked at the value.
@Chris DeVarenne, Thank you for sharing! I was going to do something similar, with only difference - instead of popping the bezel I was going to soak it in the nail polish and then the insert will come unstuck, well in theory anyway 🙄🙂 I will do an update on the channel when / if I succeed 🙂
Just ordered the Hulk homage... it seems to have brushed center links from the picture, so perhaps this is resolved. Now that they have reduced it to around 40mm I can't really complain about anything at this price - even if it dies in two years.
really happy with this watch model . . 3+ seconds a day, loom is readable all thru the night, quality and price are excellant . . if the lugs had more of a taper, thinner and the bracelet blended better i would say perfect
FYI there are 3 micro adjustments inside the clasp where the extension is. You push the spring pin and adjust the extension up or down. I've found this gives me the perfect fit. Notice there are small circular divots above the extension on the inside of the clasp!
@YK, I had quite a few viewers reaching out with exactly the same question 😊 So I made a video, hope it clears things out a bit 🙂👍 Here it is: ruclips.net/video/B-56RM8zvqY/видео.html
I prefer this over the 42 but the 42mm is on Amazon prime and has expedited shipping on Ali... It looks great, if somebody sees a 1661 with faster shipping to US let me know!!! Great video thank you.
3 months ago I ordered a black PD1644 on aliexpress. I am satisfied with the solid bracelet and the dial. The movement is precise and the chronograph also works well. I found 2 defects: the clasp made badly (it's crooked!) And above all rust inside the crown and on the ends of the bracelet. I reported the problem to Pagani Design but they are not interested in anything! It gave you rust problems! I also specify that I have never used the watch in the shower! The only water he took was when I washed my hands!
You're not the first comment I've seen that has complained about rust on Pagani Design watches. As Jody from JustOneMoreWatch says, with Paganis the butter is spread very thinly across the toast. Too much specifications for the price inevitably leads to these things. I'd consider perhaps going for Parnis watches, their QC seems better
i like the GMT homage aesthetically better, but having both now i've realised they've dropped a ball on the gmt one, because it's slightly too thick near to 14mm (the real GMT master is around 12mm thick). This makes the sub homage and yatchmaster homage wear much better on the oyster style bracelet than GMt on oyster. However, the GMTs wear perfect on the jubilee style bands
To answer your question, YES! I just received mine from China in one week! It cost £47.73 in the Aliexpress 11/11 sale. Okay, the bezel is not the best, but there's enough slop to make it line up perfectly. The Cyclops slopes down to the right, or does it? Sometimes it looks perfectly aligned, other times slightly out. It's so close that I'm happy with it. Obviously I will have to wait and see how accurate it is. Now the only problem is what to do when it needs a service (when it stops or gets wildly inaccurate). It's just not economically viable to service. Oh well, let's hope that's not for many years! 😀
@jonathan lloyd, Thank you for sharing! 🙂 NH35 has a 2 to 3 years service interval and is a very popular movement, so servicing / replacing should not be an issue. You do have a good point though will it be economically viable? 🙂 Thanks for watching and good luck! 🙂👍
Thanks, good luck with yours too! I suppose I will have to see how attached I get to the watch. I guess there are three options when the time comes. Sell it as a non runner and buy a new one, replace the movement, or get it serviced. I think the second option would be the cheapest, but it would require some work 😕
@Diego Dandaza, I did a few videos that compare the watches in your question, hope these will help you with your decision, a couple of notes though - the PD 1662 GMT case and bracelet are very similar to PD-1661, however, the movement is of course quite different, also the PD-1662 (GMT) only has a ceramic bezel on the Batman colorway, the other colorways have aluminum bezels. Here are the videos: 40mm vs 43mm Pagani Design: ruclips.net/video/QaXL99KuhrA/видео.html PD-1662 GMT: ruclips.net/video/ObZ-t5gKeDg/видео.html Parnis GMT vs Pagani GMT: ruclips.net/video/d38GmUC1NNQ/видео.html Hope this helps and Good luck! 🙂👍
@Вячеслав Зуб, NH35 is arguably more reliable. Couple of things to consider though: 1. Both movements can be damaged if you change the date in the 'danger zone' (between 9pm and 3 am). I know, I nearly broke my GMT 🙂 2. Pagani Design GMT has a ceramic bezel ONLY on the batman version, the other ones (pepsi and coke) are made of aluminum. Personally, I have both - and both work fine for 6 - 7 months now, however, I use the GMT more because of the convenience of the second Time Zone. Hope this helps and good luck! 🙂👍
Hi @Dvir Mizrahi it is best to clarify with the seller. I did a a tool in mine, however it was not a tool for the bracelet screws but for the pins and spring bars, which still can come in handy. And you are right - a small screw driver should work on the bracelet screws to resize. I used a small screwdriver that is part of my Swissarmy knife. Good luck and thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Is there any difference between purchasing on AliExpress and pagani website? As I've checked, the price on AliExpress is a bit cheaper than the price on pagani website. Anyway, the review is spot on, I'll get myself one.
Could you compare this with the new Parnis and new Guanqin submariner as well as the steeldive? All are around the same price. I'd appreciate your opinion
At my 2021-Model of the 1661, the Bezel-Alignment is nearly well, and the Cyclops is straight, unlike to my 2020/1639- 43 mm Model. I got the Black n Blue-one: AWSOME ! Very elegant. No "Explorer" anymore; brushed Links! The Cons: For closing the Easy-Link, I need a tool; my Thumb is too weak. :-( Most Corners and Edges were not finshed - razor-sharp! I had to hone them down. The Indices are domed-grey, and the Colour on the Bezel and Indices is not as bright as on the GIV "Chronometer" Sub-Hommage; the new Version of the first Guanqin-Sub-Hommage. The Glass on the GIV is deeper integrated; it measures only 12.1 (vs. 2021-Pagani 12.3) mm! And the GIV Edges came finished, and the Easy-Link can be closed decently.
Hi @Hunter Bautista, Lige Subs homages do look interesting, I am a bit heavy on Subs homages in my collection at the moment though, so cannot make any promises 🙂 Looks like Lige has two: a quartz one (LIGE 10045) and the mechanical model (LIGE 6803 the $74.99 option the others are Yacht master homages) which one did you have in mind?
If you are ok with all the pros and cons described in the review, than sure at this price point it is a very good package, if you know of a better Sub homage for $85 please let me know so I can review it 🙂 If you plan to spend around $210 there is of course San Martin Submariner homage, - you will get the same movement, pretty much the same materials and specs, but with better lume, better bezel action, and definitely better QC and overall quality. Good Luck and thank you for watching! 🙂👍
@@ShinyThings thank you for answear. havent you said you plane to do longer review? cant find any. Ive got also eye on San Martin, but now is avaliable only green version. Ive got Loreo green and Pagani Desing 43 green. Now I want some nice black submariner homage. I also was considering Steinhart black ocean one, and I like 39 mm look very much but its too tiny for me. 42 mm looks somehow out of proportions to me, too bad I cannot handle it in my hands and try out first before buy. I also came across nice Squalle 20 atmos which is 40 mm and looks really nice, but the price point is about +500 usd and Im not sure if I want to spend lets say 10x more money if I compare it to like yours pagani. Im not really sure. Plus I want some other watches of course!! :D
Steinhart and Squalle of course have the 'magic' 'SWISS MADE' words on the dial 🙂 and ETA movement. Back to under $100 segment there is also a STEELDIVE 1954 to consider. In my view pros: 40mm / 20mm - classic size, Sapphire, Very good lume + lume on the bezel, good quality - better QC than Pagani imho, cons: no date (could be a positive for some 🙂), pressed clasp, polished center links bracelet, printed dial. Good luck! 👍
@Richard Benjamin only the pip at 12 o'clock is lumed on the bezel. The lume shot is at 3:02 in the video if you want to take a look. Thanks for watching.
Pagani Design might get there eventually 🙂 Took them about 3 months to get the color combination right, another three months for the bracelet? 😊 Thank you for watching! 👍
the all black gmt master homage looks superior to this. I like the shiny centre link on the that model, but not as much on this sub homage. still amazing if not unbeatable quality for the price!
If they ever do a 42mm with a 48mm lug to lug and fully brushed oyster style bracelet I just might go for it, 40mm is too small for my 7.5 inch wrist whilst the pd1639 is too big with that 52mm Lug to lug
Pagani Design - complete junk - ordered mine and movement was dead on arrival. They have no quality control whatsoever so it's a lucky dip if you get one whether it works. Buy a San Martin - more money but much better quality
It's just too cheap, both in terms of the expression in the watch bracelet - it's too shiny in the middle, and then it could be great if they made it in 42 mm., other watches as well.
I respect that you come straight to the point without any BS
I paid $60 including international post 2 years ago for this model - it is way better than I ever expected. My local watch specialists was shocked at the value.
Brilliant review, got to say I like what pagani design are doing. Got a GMT lately fantastic time keeper most accurate I have ever had.
Good review. I popped off the bezel, removed the insert, reapplied the bezel then glued the insert on correctly lined up.

I totally agree about the bracelet. It should definitely be all brushed. Good review.
Ordered one with a glide lock. Now just need to align that bezel and good to go! 🙂👍

Pay the extra money for the San Martin Sub (Version 2). I own it and it is absolutely stunning in every way. Looks and feels like a $1,000+ watch.
