      @@godGottgod This movement has been around for about 5 years and several higher end China based manufacturers are using it while giving respectable 2 year warranties. The PT5000 has also achieved a Glashütte certification which is arguably better than COSC. If peace of mind is worth a 50% premium to you, by all means the SW200 is the way to go. Personally I can't see paying that much more for the SW200 when the chances are quite high that you're never going to notice a difference. If this were a $500+ watch, then I might think differently.

  • @bubbaoriley7864
    @bubbaoriley7864 4 года назад +15

    Jody, I get that you want to see a Rolex homage with a Swiss movement, but this is after all a Chinese manufactured watch and not a Swiss manufactured watch. If Chinese manufacturing is good enough for the rest of the watch, then it should be good enough for the movement as well. The PT5000 is an excellent 2824 clone and the upgrade to the SW200 costs more than half again more than the version with the PT5000. Resale value of a $200 watch isn't the issue. Your timegrapher proves accuracy isn't the issue. So why promote a version of this watch with a 50% premium for a movement you can't see and will almost certainly never notice any difference? At the $200 price point for the PT5000 version this watch is a smoking hot deal. $300+, not so much.

    Must admit I don't like homages, a watch collector buying 5-6 of them, then they are pretty close to the value of the real thing. They would opt for quality but not quantity. But this one, looks quite good and it's price is so attractive. The only thing I did not like are the polished center links, but that can be sorted in any decent repair shop. Thanks for sharing. Review for once more 10/10, enjoy watches in good health and keep posting:)

    I'm seriously impressed with the Phylida homage, which I'm just editing the review and will be online on my channel in a couple of hours. Movement quality aside, the watch itself has all the goodies you can expect, including a fully brushed bracelet with screw in pins and a very usable easy-glide system. The bezel is ceramic, and fully lumed. And the overall lume of the dial is outstanding for a sub $100 chinese homage. Please give it a look whenever you have a chance. Your opinion about the best value Sub homage might change.

    The San martin water ghost v3 is the best value sub homage out there! Period. I agree tho all that's needed in them now is a Swiss movement.

  • @watchesandcaps2566

    I'd go with the pt5000, especially when that sellita is putting out poor numbers like that on the timegrapher. In my experience sellitas are always running a little too fast for their added cost. The miyota 9015 in my Tisell runs no worse than +5 spd.

    If anyone wants a slightly larger sub homage, I recommend the 42mm Invicta, on a jubilee, for around £75 ,, mine runs around +2s a day. (NH35)..
    I use it as my "stunt watch" lol...

  • @CheukNamSiu

    If clomaging a Rolex Sub isn’t a must, the Glycine Combat Sub might be a better choice. Weaker lume and construction aside, the glycine is Swiss Made, has original design and a long heritage, all for about $350 USD from ashford.

    The best no-date is the San Martin SN006-G. Lots of BGW9 Super-Luminova, PT5000, female endlinks, premium oyster bracelet and "the look".
