And for that, I admit that this game is awesome, even if I didn't like so much the gameplay mechanic they tried to give :)
One of my favourite musicians of all time, the legend Akira Yamaoka. He is the master of ambience and nostalgic music. Let's pray that the rumors for the new Silent Hill games are real and that he is in them
Best silent hill game, hands down. Super immersive and just amazing atmosphere, this soundtrack gives me goose bumps every time i hear it. Don't understand why other humans hate on this installment of the silent hill franchise.
😂😂 aww did i upset someone? Maybe contribute something of your opinion, rather than just staying "you're high" bud. Give an honest statement of why you don't like this game please, or are you just like that guy in the "Key and Peele" sketch who always says "anyways, okkayyy"? 😂😂
I've been playing SH since 2003 when Silent Hill 3 came out so I consider myself an old school fan but I really enjoyed Homecoming since it maintained what the first three games did very well and also brought new elements to the table. Alex was also a VERY likable character in my eyes and I really felt for him seeing as he was literally cast aside and sentenced to death by his family because of The Order. I actually favor it greatly over Downpour which I didn't care for unlike many others.
it's a great story because it is about a different side of this evil town. The first one is about be a single parent, the second one is about a couple, the third is about identity and forget the past, the four is social phobia, isolation, hermit behavior, the five it's about family, "a happy family", since Alex remember his mother and his brother, barely his father, but on the normal world, they look like a happy family without him, all the topics of the game are about childhood wishes, family wishes, home wishes, at the end this family portrait fall off and show the real face, that moment was amazing in the game. I like that the game changed in action because the main character is a fighter, a soldier. Also the movie is a homage to one of my favorite horror movies The Jacob's ladder.
its cool or whatever if you like the game but you literally have no taste if you think its the best. this is an objective fact please do not try to argue, thank you have a nice day
@@insanelyheinousbeefer Lmao. What's your problem? I clearly said it's the best silent hill game (for me) from the series. And you here talking shit as 'if I think this is the best silent hill game than I have no taste'. If you don't like it, why even talk about it than?
This was my third favorite Silent Hill game, it did not deserve the panning it got. The gameplay wasn't as great as those that came before, admittedly. But the story was a well crafted emotional journey into the madness hidden within us all, and the lengths we will go through to correct it.
look, i don't want to sound nitpicky or spoilsport, i know that everyone got their own tastes... but actually i thought this is one of the most weak and lazy Silent Hill games in terms of story. The "story a well crafted emotional journey into the madness hidden within us all, and the lengths we will go through to correct it" was already done in Silent Hill 2 and alot better than here, in wich it notes how much tries to be Silent Hill 2 (hell even the plot twist was the same, and they put Pyramid Head!) Also, as everyone said, the gameplay and the gore-american-kind of horror just didn't feel like a Silent Hill, the series has well know to had mistery and alot of symbolism and the japanese developers only know how to make that right. The things that i think this game acomplished very well was the boss desings and their meaning, and , as i said, this sondtrack is pretty damn good, one of the few things that make me feel as a Silent Hill game
hearing the song "Pattern" takes me into waking up in an abandoned house, with broken windows, alone, with no weaponry, foggy inside and outside the house, everything torn apart, and hearing a girl yell from a distance, but she was really peeking over the broken window the whole time, trippy, but creepy
I think this game gets a bad reputation. For all the flaws in it from the combat mechanics to reuse of asset from other titles like Pyramid Head or Nurses; there is still a good game underneath. The story was pretty solid and, of course, the soundtrack by Akira Y. was superb. If given to another developer instead of Vistra games with the ideas intact but with more focus on visceral, psychological horror the game would be amazing. Nevertheless, out of all the modern Silent Hill games I would come back to this one and play it in a heart beat. It is a shame that we will never get a chance to see another Silent Hill game for a long time due to Konami and its practices.
Bullshit. It was the worst SH game ever made. Did you play the others or you've played Homecoming? It has nothing to do with Silent Hill. Double Helix had no idea what the game was about. They made the movie cannon god damn it. Your opinion but it's a shitty one.
@@waltuh11121 Well yes, some opinions are bs some are good. You can have an opinion that everyone should jump out of their window once in their life, it doesn't mean it's a good one lol.
Funny how the most controversial silent hill game turned out to be a rare hidden gem looking at modern horror this game stands tall even with the lore inaccuracies its turly a silent hill experience
:)No fue uno de mis mejores SH, pero la banda sonora. Estuvo magnífica de la mano del compositor Akira Yamaoka y la cantante Mary Helizabet Macglin fue un golazo de cancha completa!!!:)😁👍
The issue is that they strayed away from the psychological horror aspects of Silent Hill. With Homecoming, you are fully able to defend yourself, and it is VERY combat intensive compared to past games (even if it's not as heavy as games like Dead Space, but those are meant to be a different genre of horror) It's not a BAD game, but it has a reputation to live up to, which it fails to do.
It is an awesome game, I love it but after playing more and more Silent Hill games I agree with TrueChaoSclx , in Origins and Downpour you end up outrunning your enemies not to mention Restless Dreams, while the brave soldier boy owns them before moving, the monsters in other Silent Hill games can be evaded, in Homecoming you beat them, that said I prefer the horror of Homecoming rather than Dead Space, and HC doesn't deserves the hate that it gets.
TrueChaoSclx Considering how bad Downpour was, i don't think it matters if it was combat oriented, or not. Downpour went back to the classic combat style and people hated that game even more than Homecoming.
Not sure Downpour was universally hated, yes ign was hard but far as i know some of the silent hill fans do love the game and that puts it in better ground than homecoming obviously.
+ Jared Martin If SH2 is your favorite then I fear you're not gonna like Homecoming. The one thing I remember from Homecoming being good was the combat system, with combos and dodging. But it felt out of place as it retracted a bit from the horror, and very rarely was not fighting an option. Story is meh, and it exploits pyramid head from SH2 as well. Visuals in the fog world are greyer than usual but the otherworld has the Silent Hill 1 and 3 vibe with lots of rust blood and industrial architecture which I really like. Doesn't represent the main characters psyche though as it did in SH2. Don't remember if the level design was any good or if it told any kind of story like it did (again) in SH2, but I doubt it. Soundtrack is mostly great in Homecoming and I believe it's the sole reason this title isn't completely forgotten.
I still don't understand why this game receive so much hate, as a big fan of Silent hill i played all games, aside Downpour, and honestly? It was such a good game the story, the disgusting monsters (i still have nigmares if think about Asphyxia OMFG) I know it's just my opinion, but still this was one of my absolute favourite sh game, obviously after silent hill 2 the absolute masterpiece.

I think Akira's songwriting was the best on Homecoming, but I think that actually worked against him. Silent Hill 1 and 2 had a rough, more cerebral sound that really sold the lucid, dreamlike atmosphere of those games. Silent Hill 3 had a few excellent tracks that were in line with the old stuff (the save screen theme in particular), but I think he became more of an experienced songwriter by that time. His work on The Room, though highly underrated, was extremely experimental but also verbose. That game has some of his best work, but also some of his worst. Origins' score felt completely unattached to its material, this probably due to the fragmented development (team shifting from US to UK in the middle of production), and the whole schtick seemed formulaic- nothing new was done and no chances taken. Homecoming, on the other hand, actually does have a score that relates to the game and tone of the story. It's much better than the game it's scoring, but even then, his work on Homecoming I don't consider to be his best, only his most cohesive and polished. Shattered Memories featured a dynamic score, which was Akira's first, and like the game, I consider it a downgrade from what we should expect from Silent Hill games (prior to 4). Daniel Licht's work on Downpour was experimental and praiseworthy for what it was, but the use of licensed music overshadowed his contribution substantially. I think he was underutilized, but saying that is like saying a child could swim better if he were wearing water wings- it doesn't excuse the fact that he can't swim on his own, and this goes both ways, between both Licht and the game, and the other way around.
12ealDeal I think he's a fantastic composer but I think his less structured music is more enjoyable, I especially enjoy the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack because I feel it has a better balance between the structured rock/trip-hop compositions and the less predictable ambient tracks. "The Day of Night" possibly my favorite piece by Akira is simply perfect, something about that track just touches me on a emotional level and I sometimes find myself listening to it on repeat for hours. I'd personally like to see him return as composer for Silent Hills as I think he'll be able to work well Kojima and whomever else joins in on the project,
DuarteGlen I completely agree with every one of your sentiments. Not only is Silent Hill 2's ost our favorite, but it's also Yamaoka's. The Day of Night is also one of my favorite tracks, along with White Noiz, Prisonic Fairytale, Pianissimo Epilogue, and Laura Plays the Piano. I listen to a lot of Akira's music- especially on night drives through the city (it's oddly fitting). I really hope he makes an appearance on Silent HillS (we all know that S is going to be an 8 when the official reveal drops, right?), as well, with Takoyoshi Sato and Hiroyuki Owaku collaborating on story as well as monster and NPC designs.
The Nerd Ninjas yeah up to the point when you go to sleep and next thing you know you’re silent hill and now you have two options one find the nearest gun and put yourself down or to go through the living hell and escape true question is how horrifying want to be?🤔
It was a very good horror Game. A good story with an abruptly ending. Great sound, soundtrack and lighting. Okay graphics, great monsters and Level Design. Physics were okay, and a little too much fighting. All in all a 6/10 Not the best Silent Hill game, but a great Survival Horror game.

monster design and symbolism was top notch. Music too, same for the atmosphere. Story wasn't anything exceptional, but very good. Yeah, definitely one of my favorite silent hills.
Track 5. "The Terminal Show" it's a remix song "Never Forgive Me, Never Forgive Me" from Silent Hill 3. This game got the best soundtracks from ALL horror games and movies.
Ive actually played every single SH game and Homecoming got me the most. The characters, the theme, the story, plot with the kids, it was all just so interesting for me. If Homecoming had kept many of it's discarded ideas I bet the other fans maybe just maybe would've liked it a lot more, but for me Homecoming is still my favorite one in the series. Favorite Theme is Elle's.
I just got done playing MGS4 when I bought SHH, so the transition between those games was very simple. The more action oriented control dynamic was really close to that of MGS4.

One of my favourite musicians of all time, the legend Akira Yamaoka. He is the master of ambience and nostalgic music. Let's pray that the rumors for the new Silent Hill games are real and that he is in them
the prayers were heard :)
#5 all the way for me.
You were in a hospital Alex.
Yeah. I was wounded in battle.
....No....
Game was not that bad as many people say. Finished it more than once. Soundtrack is flawless❤
The first one is about be a single parent, the second one is about a couple, the third is about identity and forget the past, the four is social phobia,
isolation, hermit behavior, the five it's about family, "a happy family", since Alex remember his mother and his brother, barely his father, but on the normal world, they look like a happy family without him, all the topics of the game are about childhood wishes, family wishes, home wishes, at the end this family portrait fall off and show the real face, that moment was amazing in the game. I like that the game changed in action because the main character is a fighter, a soldier. Also the movie is a homage to one of my favorite horror movies The Jacob's ladder.
Of course Alex is a likeable character
This is the best silent hill game for me. I love everything in this game. The soundtracks are super amazing really.
10/10.
its cool or whatever if you like the game but you literally have no taste if you think its the best. this is an objective fact please do not try to argue, thank you have a nice day
@@insanelyheinousbeefer Lmao. What's your problem? I clearly said it's the best silent hill game (for me) from the series. And you here talking shit as 'if I think this is the best silent hill game than I have no taste'. If you don't like it, why even talk about it than?
@@rezo856 please do not try to argue, thank you have a nice day
@@insanelyheinousbeefer People like you are weird as hell lmao. Get a life stupid.
This game scared me, this game changed me, this game showed me really good music, this game is the best SH in my opinion
Homecoming might have been a disappointing mess but it still had a great soundtrack thanks to Akira Y.
no expectations = no disappointment
Afaik Akira wasn't really into doing the ost anymore with this game, and I think you can definetly hear it was just a job for him
this music I listen to it every night and it helps me to sleep
I think the ending of Homecoming is just.. amazing.. to say the least.
Which one ?
@@navidjamshidi3127 the last one ;)
Holy crap! You are SO right! Witchcraft is an AWESOME song!
i thought this game was pretty good, that's just my opinion
My only problem was that the game fps blocked at 24
it was, and the style as an old horror film
I liked it too. I mean not as much as silent hill 3 which is my favourite. I also dig the soundtrack so much.
mickie
you reply was so idiotic jesus fucking christ ...
I liked it too. Doesn't come close to the first 3 but I liked it more than Origins and The Room
"Witchcraft" is definitely the most depressing track I've ever heard from a video game..
This was my third favorite Silent Hill game, it did not deserve the panning it got. The gameplay wasn't as great as those that came before, admittedly. But the story was a well crafted emotional journey into the madness hidden within us all, and the lengths we will go through to correct it.
Lucy light I really liked the story of downpour too. But some parts of that game were just soooo bad.
+James Cheesman I loved the story man. Yeah not as good as the more classic. but definitely worth replaying
it's my favorite it's got elements of the first 3 silent hills in my opinion this was the last greatest silent hill game in my opinion downpour sucked
it's a masterpiece
look, i don't want to sound nitpicky or spoilsport, i know that everyone got their own tastes... but actually i thought this is one of the most weak and lazy Silent Hill games in terms of story.
Thx for sharing that. Neat soundtrack indeed, as always with SH.
The Terminal Show;una belleza de Soundtrack
hearing the song "Pattern" takes me into waking up in an abandoned house, with broken windows, alone, with no weaponry, foggy inside and outside the house, everything torn apart, and hearing a girl yell from a distance, but she was really peeking over the broken window the whole time, trippy, but creepy
This soundtrack is awesome!! Creepy but Sad too!!
this line ________________ that will never be crossed again
Akira Yamaoka é muito bom nessas trilhas sonoras, tá louco! xD
A música cantadas pela Mary Elizabeth McGlynn também são das melhores! xDD
Nao existe outro jogo com melhor trilha sonora do que SH
@@crimmson27 Verdade verdadeira!
cold blood give me chills.
Really sets the mood like staring at the rainy night thinking about all of your regrets and all the things that led you to this point in life
I think this game gets a bad reputation.
@@abrielrobertsson4160 ah yes, the typical "my opinion good your opinion bad" coment
@@waltuh11121 Well yes, some opinions are bs some are good. You can have an opinion that everyone should jump out of their window once in their life, it doesn't mean it's a good one lol.
It's strangely relaxing...I didn't quite expect that
Silent Hill 4, homecoming, shattered memories and book of memories are my favorite silent hill ost's
This game was the dying breath of the most iconic gaming franchise of all time.
Thanks a lot, I was looking for the full album!
Silent hill forever.
the music of akira yamaoka is an experience. thank you master.
Cold Blood and Witchcraft are my favorites.
I swear , "Who Knows" is very interesting and one of his more experimental. Always fascinated me
nice pfp
Funny how the most controversial silent hill game turned out to be a rare hidden gem looking at modern horror this game stands tall even with the lore inaccuracies its turly a silent hill experience
:)No fue uno de mis mejores SH, pero la banda sonora. Estuvo magnífica de la mano del compositor Akira Yamaoka y la cantante Mary Helizabet Macglin fue un golazo de cancha completa!!!:)😁👍
this is one of the best silent hill games. i have no idea why so many people hate it.
The issue is that they strayed away from the psychological horror aspects of Silent Hill. With Homecoming, you are fully able to defend yourself, and it is VERY combat intensive compared to past games (even if it's not as heavy as games like Dead Space, but those are meant to be a different genre of horror)
It's not a BAD game, but it has a reputation to live up to, which it fails to do.
TrueChaoSclx Very well said, couldnt agree more
It is an awesome game, I love it but after playing more and more Silent Hill games I agree with TrueChaoSclx , in Origins and Downpour you end up outrunning your enemies not to mention Restless Dreams, while the brave soldier boy owns them before moving, the monsters in other Silent Hill games can be evaded, in Homecoming you beat them, that said I prefer the horror of Homecoming rather than Dead Space, and HC doesn't deserves the hate that it gets.
Arguably not as good as its predecessors, but I think the soundtrack lived up to those before it.
Definitely, haven't played the game yet but will soon.My favorite one is SH2 for obvious reasons
yandereSyndrome it's the best game in my honest opinion it has the old school feel I still play it
silent hill 1 and 2, and 3 and homecoming is the best ones
Just bought Homecoming I heard it's good
+ Jared Martin
If SH2 is your favorite then I fear you're not gonna like Homecoming.
Homecoming is super underrated.
The plot of this game about the abuse was brilliant, clearly Double Helix tried to homage The Shining with that.
This Sacred Line slaps so hard omfg
I still don't understand why this game receive so much hate, as a big fan of Silent hill i played all games, aside Downpour, and honestly? It was such a good game the story, the disgusting monsters (i still have nigmares if think about Asphyxia OMFG) I know it's just my opinion, but still this was one of my absolute favourite sh game, obviously after silent hill 2 the absolute masterpiece.
The Terminal Show is perfect...
amazing, amazing Akira Yamaoka!
Even though the game might not be the greatest silent hill music will always be the best.
Las mejores sin duda son las tres primeras, y luego sigue siendo arte.
Not sure why so many people disliked this game.. Personally I gave it a 8 out of 10.
i just so love silent hill games soundtracks... they are so mystic and feels so strange
El mejor silent hill duela a quien le duela
La Mejor historia
El mejor soundtrack
Mejor ambiente
This game is my favorite episode with SH2
This is awesome song !!!!!
honestly all the OSTs are pretty dope.
"Regards" is my favorite
Could anyone listening to this PLEASE sign the Silent Hills petition if it's still available? Norman Reedus just discussed it last week. He said that he feels like it's supposed to happen. That it's destiny! We need this series to go back to its roots or another. Please sign if you can. Thank you

my fave Elle Theme
Ahhhhh, Witchcraft is F'ing amazing!!
Whatever anyone's opinion is about the game itself. Everyone has to agree that the soundtrack is the highlight of the whole thing for sure
It may not be a perfect game but the soundtrack is based.
And overall were here now.AWESOME,.
Haha you're descriptive style is very similar to that of Patrick Bateman from the novel American Psycho.
DuarteGlen
Lol, thanks. I heard that before from someone in my first year of college. What do you think of Akira's work?
12ealDeal I think he's a fantastic composer but I think his less structured music is more enjoyable, I especially enjoy the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack because I feel it has a better balance between the structured rock/trip-hop compositions and the less predictable ambient tracks. "The Day of Night" possibly my favorite piece by Akira is simply perfect, something about that track just touches me on a emotional level and I sometimes find myself listening to it on repeat for hours. I'd personally like to see him return as composer for Silent Hills as I think he'll be able to work well Kojima and whomever else joins in on the project,
DuarteGlen
I completely agree with every one of your sentiments.
Ahhhhh the feeeeeels . A lot of memories.
The Nerd Ninjas yeah up to the point when you go to sleep and next thing you know you’re silent hill and now you have two options one find the nearest gun and put yourself down or to go through the living hell and escape true question is how horrifying want to be?🤔
Best game I played ever atmosphere is really awesome and piano soundtracks shit if PS4 would have remastered version.......
The storyline of the Doctor and Scarlett was awesome.........but if you're fighting her on hard mode......good luck bud!
It was a very good horror Game. A good story with an abruptly ending.
Great sound, soundtrack and lighting. Okay graphics, great monsters and Level Design. Physics were okay, and a little too much fighting. All in all a 6/10
Not the best Silent Hill game, but a great Survival Horror game.
some songs make you feel very unconfortable specially 33:14
i think this man can compose a song for every room of the shadow temple
my fav silent hill game. iv bought this game twice for the 360, and once for the ps3. iv beat it more or at the keast 10 times. half that on the hordest mod. my fav boss is when u fight doctor fitches daughters doll
This is one of the best silent hill games the only real problem with it is the combat
monster design and symbolism was top notch. Music too, same for the atmosphere. Story wasn't anything exceptional, but very good. Yeah, definitely one of my favorite silent hills.
Thanks, dude 🖒🖒
Track 5. "The Terminal Show" it's a remix song "Never Forgive Me, Never Forgive Me" from Silent Hill 3.
This game got the best soundtracks from ALL horror games and movies.
Ah ok I though it sounded familiar!
Love this! But some of them scare the heck out of me at night.. xD
Thank you..very good find
cold blood my favourite
First song - "One More Soul To Call" by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, music by Yamaoka ;)
Best Boss fights in the entire series.
Excelente!!!
One more soul to the call
I miss you(silent hill), where you are ?
I just got done playing MGS4 when I bought SHH, so the transition between those games was very simple. The more action oriented control dynamic was really close to that of MGS4.
Witchcraft is my absolute favorite I wouldn't leave the house because I loved the song so much. And Regards is terrifying the smog monster wasn't that scary but when I heard that song I almost started crying
So much to fear yet so much to overcome.
soundtrack underrated
