"...period correct occy straps..." is a fabulous sentence...
Haha not easy to find those occy straps, they all have fancy plastic hooks on them now...
Fantastic. LP was my favourite driver, I love this channel!
Glad you enjoy it! Cheers!
Awesome work Jack! You should be very proud of all your work on this.
Cheers Bruce, it will be great to see it on track and hopefully no major issues!
Brilliant job Jack, should be very proud of the progress, can’t wait to see it on the mountain…hope I can control myself
Cheers!
Can not wait to see this weapon mobile and ripping up on track again! As a young tacker, this was my favourite car and with victory at Bathurst, it showed how good Larry & PE was at sticking it to the factory teams...
Yeah it will be awesome!!
Good stuff, I dunno about others but I would love to see pics of the cars as they looked when you got them back, before the restoration work, if you're looking for content for future videos...Hint hint ;)
Google for "Saturday Sleuthing PE017" - the last picture on the page is the way it looked when they got it back...
Correct, theres a PE017 and PE 019 photo album showing the cars through various stages
Amazing attention to detail/s. Incredible amount of research and chasing up these things. That alone is worth seeing these cars! To think you were a sprog hanging around the pits selling off items to make a dollar around then too and now you are rebuilding them. Hats off to you for all your hard work.
Hahah doesnt seem that long ago does it! Cheers!
Unbelievable Jack! I have been wondering if you'd get it up to the mountain for the 30yr anniversary this year so I can drool over it... this gives me just that little hint of hope ;)
Fingers crossed! Cheers!
Gotta love old REAL V8 supercars
1993 was a great year for the sport, winged Commodores and Falcons!!
Amazing stuff Jack, can’t wait to see this thing back on track!
After LP gets behind the wheel, I’d love to see Ryan Hansford drive it at same stage (his old man, Gregg, would be proud).
Yeah that's definitely a plan to have Ryan and Rhys involved for sure. Cheers
"THE LEGEND RETURNS" give me instant chills. And sorry LP not talking about you this time mate...lol 😊
Cheers!
My favorite series on RUclips. I love getting this in depth look at my favorite race cars of all time, I can’t really find much other than this on v8 supercars as far as technical specs and stuff goes.
Many thanks!!
Mrs Perkins,Larry where are all the bloody bath plugs going,i hope Jack hasn't got them in the sandpit again. 😂😂😂😂 Cheers Steve.
Keeping stuff out of the engine!!! Cheers!!!
Great stuff mate do you know the model number of the Motorola radio by any chance cheers
Not off the top of my head. I haven’t done much research on this because I knew we sold the original to the fella restoring the 1997 car many moons ago. I’m sure I’d be able to find something if I put some energy into it but it has been low on the priority list. If I had the model number it would be easier that’s for sure, maybe I need to have a look at the 1997 car
@@perkinsengineering I'm a ham opererater there are plenty of ham radio site selling all sorts of Uhf VHF Hf radios if you can find a model number or pic I'll see if I can track one down cheers
Hey Jack, enter the car and LP into this year's Bathurst 1000 will you? And you can be the co-driver!
Hahah imagine that!!!
What was the idea behind laying the radiator back away from where the road cars radiator would normally sit??
It's a good question, I actually don't know the exact answer, maybe it allows for a bigger radiator at a guess...
Jack, give us the model number of the Motorola you are looking for, there are plenty of people that have old radios around. I cave a few contacts. Any of us would love to be able to help in some small way if we could 👍
I don’t know it, haven’t done enough research on it
love the work jack , i hope u go nuts with the gopros & capture everything , i will be very interested to watch it all , i dont think the local broadcaster will show us much of ur track time . the new supercars this year havnt really done much for me , the racing is still good but the cars fall flat for me .
That's the plan! Cheers!!!
Looking forward to seeing this rocket back on the Mountain where it belongs!!!👌
LP is a true National Treasure!👍
You and me both! Cheers!
You couldn’t buy that sort of quality the attention to detail is second to absolutely nothing very well done
Thanks Steve!
the car looks amazing Jack well done, its going to be amazing at Bathurst seeing LP in the car
Cheers!
The attention to detail is spot on. Love the series. Brings back so many awesome memories and seeing more of the little things that were done to the cars then we ever did back in the day..
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Awesome stuff! which model motorola radio do you need, i know a few Mother M nuts 🤔
I haven't chased up the details on that as yet, pretty sure its in the 1997 car but i need to follow up.
Would be interested to know how you can run it without the new style rollcage padding 🤔
Jump in and get on the gas!
Do you know the model number of the Motorola Radio? Shouldn’t be too hard to locate
No I don't sorry, the original doesn't have any information on it!
Ripper work Jack.
Can't wait to see it back on the track.
Nearly there mate!
Same! Cheers!
Hi Jack for what it's worth I reckon that car is the greatest Bathurst winning car of all time and Larry's drive that day was amazing and Greg RIP as well
Cheers!
Fantastic work Jack! Best of luck finishing off the beast before Bathurst!
Cheers!
Awesome work Jack blood sweet and tears go into great resto jobs LP will be proud 👍👍👍
Not wrong there!
Excellent quality of engineering.
Cheers!
You sure don't have to be a Holden supporter to love this car. It is the best offering that supercars had, production chassis modified to magician status by a genius. Fantastic restoration, may I keep it at my house?
Thanks! Haha i want it to stay in my house!!
flipping awesome stuff mate ....... you should be proud of what you have done mate
Thanks!!!
man thats lookin smick!...sik sik job Jack!
Cheers!
THATS MY FAV CAR THE VP SO TY FOR THE VIDEOS
Cheers!!!
Thanks from England.
You're welcome, cheers!
Fantastic stuff, thanks Jack. Hope you make video's of it running around again. Cheers!
That's the plan!
great job young fella
Cheers!
Great work Jack.
Cheers!
Jack do you guys inhouse fabricate your own race mufflers or are they fabricated by an actual business?
We fabricate everything in house to our own drawings and specfications.
Are you able to purchase a copy of the drawing to fab your own Jack??

Awesome Jack - can't wait to see the '93 car at Bathurst!
Same!!!!
I bet LP can’t wait to get it on track
I haven't asked him actually but it will be a cool moment thats for sure!
@@perkinsengineering you’ll have to stealth video his reaction. Jack you’re an amazing man and the joy and excitement in your face bringing these cars to us and essentially back to life makes us all smile with you. I grew up watching your Dad and I found him such an interesting person. He’s no BS that’s for sure where others kinda were. Always looking for that competitive edge through hard work. Australian racing is forever in his debt.
Haha love the use of sink/bath plugs in the trumpets
They do the trick!!! Affordable too 😉
That's interesting the rotors are drilled I guess that's when they were still using asbestos brake pads? Slotted would be the way to go but period correct is priority.
Yeah keeping it as original as possible!
tell us about the Autronic
What would you like to know?
@@perkinsengineering I know there is a control ECU these days but my question is, would the Autronic ECU stand up to today’s technology?
@@JustJetskis Autronic should’ve been given the nod for the control ECU back in 2000 or 2001 when it was given to Motec. Back in those days, Autronic had one time programmable chips in them so it was impossible to fiddle with them. Same can’t be said about the Motec…
I don’t know enough about todays stuff but I’m sure Richard Aubert and Autronic would be more than capable of providing something up to the task 👍
@@perkinsengineering thanks Jack
These old race cars are so much more interesting than the current generation of cars!
Cheers!
Awesome Jack. Good luck at the 1000 too - gee you and WB will be a red hot chance.
Thanks, looking forward to it! Will give it a red hot go!!!!
Absolutely LOVE it Jack! I drool over this VP! I only dream of having this gear in my VP SS. I want to hear this thing absolutely sing down Conrod! 🤌🤌🤌💪💪💪
You and me both! Cheers!
She’s looking fantastic 👍🏻🇦🇺
Cheers!!!
Love the kitchen sink plugs in the trumpets
Keeps the nasty stuff out 🤣
Can’t wait to see the car in person at Bathurst 🙂!
Same!
Awesome content Jack keep it coming 👌
Cheers! Will do!
Hey Jack. Love your work 👍
Hey, thanks!
I remember that car with the factory recovery bottle. Because Larry got it free from Holden! And it did the job though somewhere it was on TV with the hoses flailing around as it was boiling really well.
Perkins Agricultural,,, that was where the tractors where. I remember seeing Chris Smerdons Commy parked among them.
Negative. The factory recovery bottle isn’t there in any of the under bonnet photos from Sandown/Bathurst/Adelaide 1993
Stunning. Well done
Thank you! Cheers!
