@WT95 The reason the US doesn't include sales tax is because taxes change from state to state and county to county...It's a freakin mess, and It's just easier to add tax at the point of sale because of that...
@@brucepreston3927 Excuse me but this is total bs. In Europe every country also has different tax, and imagine that, different language and sometimes even different currency. And although most of those countries are even smaller than most of the states, they don`t have problems putting prices with tax. I don`t understand what is the confusing part of seeing on a label what you will pay from your pocket? Even if every isle in a supermarket has different tax, it is WRITTEN with it in the label (because actually some things have different tax).
These prices are little off. The math should be around 30.6 at this moment in time. The prices seem to be hovering around 30.60 NTD to 1 USD. So you could reduce each amount by a little more. When the amounts differ by that amount it matters. Not as much as the Won to USD but when you spend time over there you learn the difference and ways to handle it. Also as a advisory note for those who would think about traveling. Use your credit card for purchases when possible. You will be charged the exact exchange rate at that time roughly. Yeah, pricing is about the same here in Hong Kong. Sad fact is retailers will price it roughly equivalent to what we'd have to pay if we bought it from Amazon/Newegg + shipping (nevermind that Amazon offers free shipping to HK).
Does the price tag includes sales tax? IIRC, US is the only country I visited that it doesn't and sometimes I forget about that. I bought a Gibson Les Paul in one of my trips many years ago and I almost backed off when I realized that ~10% of almost 3k is a lot of money. 💸
Meanwhile my country still has a 200% price that hasn't gone down sine the GPU shortages :c. It's literally cheaper for me to buy a ticket to Germany or something and buy from there.
I have talked about this with a reseller once. They told me, since they still have old stock which they have bought on the high price, it doesn't worth for them to buy new, cheaper ones, until the old ones sell out. It would be a great loss gor them. Of course this is just one situation of many, but can be the reason.
@@Tyrim I wonder how they're still in business. Keep and maintaining stock is one of the costlier aspects of retail. It's way, way cheaper to sell at a loss, no matter how bad it is. Taiwanese here, I do find it weird with all main head quarters in Taiwan, that all our stuff is more expensive than ebay amazon with shipping. Might be some weird import taxing i suppose.
Yes they do. To clarify, in most raw comparisons, the price to buy electronic parts is more or less equal. The problem is, I or most people buy when there are sales. The US is much more generous in price cutting, where in Taiwan a 10% off is rare. Of course it is a case by case scenario, but I would expect/wish the product to be cheaper near the head quarters, in most if not all cases.

21% is crazy? lol I wish that was the story over here. Paying only 21% tax would be a real dream coming true here. Try to buy electronics in Latin America, you pay above 120% tax in some places + the price the retailer is charging, and they charge whatever they want, which means insanely high prices (sometimes over 20 times what you make on average per month). In Taiwan, AMD GPUs above the 6600XT class are either very expensive or out of stock. So we have to buy expensive NVIDIA GPUs while looking at cheap AMD GPUs sold on Amazon. If I met Jensen Huang or any reseller on the street in Taipei, I would definitely spit at them.

Great video! I always wanted to see Taiwan and Taipei. Loved seeing the view from the Taipei 101 at the end, the only thing that was missing was a view when the sun had gone down, otherwise it was great. Also what camera did you use, and would you recommend it?
GPU cost more in Taiwan at the moment. Though if you custom build a PC, the labor cost to put the build together is free in some places, and they actually do a pretty decent job with cable management, cpu fan mounting and stuff. If you go do in-store pickup, you can go through inspection to make sure things are up to snuff. I bought a system with x3d, and I asked them to update to the latest bios for me on the spot, then they offer to help me install my own copy of windows and update everything to the latest drivers and do a simple stress test all for free. So overall, the additional services I got made the extra cost of the GPU go down a little easier. About visiting Taipei, if you are coming as a tourist, staying near Taipei Main station is cheaper and more convenient than near 101. But if you are attending exhibition near 101 like this video, that'd be the exception.
You should see how much computer parts cost in S. Korea, it is beyond insane! Every time someone complains in the USA about PC part prices they should just take a look overseas to understand how truly good we have it!

It's the end of pc gaming now nvidia is officially moved in to AI it will not make gaming gpus anymore all gamers will move to consoles in some days now . pc are trash
The travel vlog was an amazing addition 🌎
Great video guys. Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Thanks so much for the tour!
I like how concerned and happy Paul was about not having to take off his shoes at the airport. Hahahaha 👟
21:09 what a missed opportunity! I imagined bungee jump footage
You should see how much computer parts cost in S. Korea, it is beyond insane! Every time someone complains in the USA about PC part prices they should just take a look overseas to understand how truly good we have it!
Same in the Philippines for GPUs (someone forgot them the shortage is over)
that travel footage gave me anxiety 😅 i can barely hold it together doing a four hour non stop domestic flight, all the extra complications of traveling international would be nerve wracking for me. glad to see you guys are able to go to your trade shows again!
That was sooo fun. A great travel and color piece. Hope you dug this one too.

This is pretty epic. Definitely cool to see videos like this.
Looks like an amazing place to visit! Really looking forward to all the coverage you 2 will be doing. Happy Memorial day, have a cold one for me. ❤
As I am in Taiwan right now and I haven't watched this video yet but I can tell you MOST things are overpriced here ,Japan is literally 2.000 miles away from Taipei and a lot of stuff is as expensive if not even MORE expensive ,stuff you expect to be cheaper is mostly a disappointment , I mean they manufacture so much tech in here but the prices ..:/
Love these vlogging videos man, keep up the great work. Best tech tuber in the business.
Killer! The only way you could have come up with that awesome experience was crap tons of raw footage..... and good editing. I REALLY enjoyed this video.
This is awesome keep em coming!!
A bedroom with no windows would make me crazy. Even if it was just for sleeping.
Very cool, glad you're having some fun!
14:57 is that the same store that Steve from gamer nexus buy graphic card from? the 1st store with the worker name is Paul.
My number one rule traveling anywhere is to eat different stuff than we got at home. And usually the crazier the better.
glad yall are able to get back over to asia. sad e3 is kill. i like seeing you all interact physically with new products, vaporware, and talk to reps in person. plus interact with other tech toubers
Pretty sure that was the same graphics card store Steve was in a couple of years ago and bought a 3090 for one of his editors :)
Awesome start to an awesome trip Paul and Joe!! I can't wait for more ❤
Thats was a cozy vid , thank you :)
the last view looks like the scene from crysis 3 when he opens the shutters to look at the overgrowth. beautiful
Hope that Typhoon out there stays away and doesn’t disrupt your trip, stay safe.
Don't get a room without an emergency exit. People died here in Montreal Canada in rentals where they could not escape a fire. "Seven people were killed after a fire ripped through an Old Montreal heritage building on March 16, 2023,"
Thanks for sharing these travel vlog videos Paul!!!!!
