As a first time user of my new Atomos ninja V, I was unsure of the procedure to do the firmware upgrade confidently. Thank you for a clear and concise how-to video, I have updated my firmware successfully.
The mains adapter doesn't seem to work with my Ninja V - any reasons you can think of? I'm in the UK. I'm forced to do updates with a full battery. It's okay but a bit annoying a key item doesn't work.
Thanks for this helpful walk-thru! That docking cable you're using didn't come with our Atomos Ninja -- is there a way to do this with the cords that came with the device? Or will we need to make that purchase?
You mean the SATA to USB cord? If you want to use the Atomos recording you’ll need that cord either way since that’s used for the data transfer from the SSD to the computer.

/Just got mine the other day, been trying to update the firmware and unlock some codecs, but every time I plug into the Atomos nothing happens. I did register the account, extract the file etc. But still nothing. Any suggestions?
please help. I bought the Ninja V off ebay. when I go to activate it, it says that the DID number is already in use. The seller is not helping, and telling me to contact Atomos support. Any ideas on how I can fix this issue?
No idea how you can fix this. My guess is that the seller should remove the Ninja from their ATOMOS account. But if the seller is not helping, then contact Atomos support. Maybe they can release the ninja and you can then activate it.
After i put the file on the SSD, i started up the Ninja V, and nothing cames up. So then i hold the power button down for 10 seconds and it says "Error Updateing AtomOS there has been an error updayeing your firmware" i just got it and it seems to have factory settinfs still so im guessing its the very first firmware it says its 10.1 anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
It does not, however, you can calibrate the monitor or send it to Atomos and they may calibrate it for you. It's annoying but right now that's sadly the only option.
Hi Chris, thanks for video. I updated firmware (now 10.72.1) by performing a RESET as I had the error screen showing. All worked ok, but after restarting the unit, the error screen returned. Any idea what the problem could be? I've contacted Atomos help and they've been no help at all, when they bother to respond. I'm really stuck now!
My best idea would be actually to contact Atomos support. So far my interactions with them have been really helpful. I don't know the issue you are describing and never had it happen to me. I hope you can figure it out somehow.
I updated mine and after turning it on it work for a few minutes and turned itself off. After turning it back on I got a message telling me I have to repeat the update. I did it and for now it's OK. Some people with the same issue claim that formatting the drive on the PC as opposed to in the Ninja might work. I'll try that if it fails again.
hi, for some reason i dont have the activation or info tab on my ninja v. any ideas? thanks! i need to register so i cna update the codecs but im a bit lost
I'd try to format the SSD inside the Atomos Ninja. Then copy the file onto the SSD, turn off the Ninja, slide in the SSD and then have it boot up. Should work.
What if you lose power or go through a blackout during the update though... that won't be safe! Unless you are plugged into a power supply that has a battery backup
If you are in an area that has regular power outages, maybe it's better to do it with a NPF battery. I generally do not have power outages here in Germany. And if that would happen, I am usually confident that the upgrade processes are able to recover from a power outage like this and just tell you to make sure to not turn it of because, after all, it would be ideal if it just goes through once.
The latest version for the Ninja V is 10.66, I can not get my Ninja V to upgrade to that version, I have 10.63 in the Ninja V now. I have had no problem in the past.
Interesting, have you tried reaching out to Atomos Support? They may be able to help. Or try to describe your problem more since right now you have not provided much information to go off of to see where this may be coming from.

Does the Ninja V firmware update affect/delete other files in the SSD? I have a SSD that’s almost full. I want to make sure my data is safe.

The best thing you can do is reach out to Atomos Customer support and see what they say.

Does this fix the orange tint issue? Color is horribly off on like 80% of these monitors…

You may have to update the firmware of your Ninja to get these pages to show up.
What happens when you follow all these steps, and the file doesn’t open up in the SSD card

Nope, that didn't work. When I switched it off and on no automatic update.
Please contact Atomos Support with this. I have not had this issue and have no idea what may be going on with your Atomos.

Having the hardest time opening the token zip file on my Mac.
I didn't have that, maybe download the free "The Unarchiver" app from the App Store?
I am having the same issue, for some reason they only have .bin files. Mac won't open it at all. I have tried multiple expenders.
I mean, full akku is better than powering thought connector!
