- Talladega Superspeedway and Dale Earnhardt is perhaps the most iconic driver-track pairing in NASCAR Cup Series history. His 10 wins at the Superspeedway are unmatched but it his legacy had to be begin somewhere.

I will take this type of super speedway racing over today's pack racing any day.
Anytime
Today’s cookie-cutter cars are boring ah. 💯
That was real racing back then I quit watching nascar when they started making those bullshit cars 22 years
I don't know back in those days the cars would get stretched out and go into single file a lot. I never liked the super speedways for that reason. It got pretty boring. The only difference today is there are two lines of cars instead of one. If anything the crashes got more spectacular now a days. But until the BIG one happens it's just as boring.
The only improvement in nascar is,,,,,,,safer tracks ,equipment, cars. Everything else is,,,🤬
I was actually in attendance for this race, as a 10yr old kid, who didn't even know Dale Earnhardt was when he won. I wanted Cale to win. But my Dad and I walked thru the garage before the race, and remember walking right past the #15 Wrangler car. I did like that paint scheme. Still have the Program, on which Richard Petty autographed for me.
Earnhardt was and always will be THE MAN.
this makes for a really good trivia question- dale earnhardt's first talladega win was with bud moore in a ford.
gotta love nascar.
Great video. Nice to see an exciting victory not created by gimmicky restarts 4 wide with 20 cars crashing.
This is what made nascar. What a shame nascar isn't like this anymore. I don't think any driver out there today could compete with any of these guys. Not even close
I remember that race; fantastic from start to finish, it had everything - driver changes, sudden drop outs, rain on the way, pit strategy, no stage breaks (try that Noah), entering pit road at 180 mph...fantastic!
The Earnhardt Superspeedway legacy begins. Great video NBR
The Earnhardt legacy at Talladega is strong, I doubt another father and son combo will ever have similar combined success that Earnhardt Sr & Jr had at the 2 plate tracks.
Dale won more at Daytona then anywhere -
@@davidrice3337 We know that BUT THIS video is about Talladega...
Worked on a team that was there that day. I remember, No pit road speed, No firesuits for crew, very hot day,
Which car? Did you work in the sport often?
@@geesesoap70 There were several over the years. Lennie Pond. Travis Tiller. Mark Martin (early years), Pearson, few others
Dale will always be associated with Daytona. -U10
The man, the myth, the legend #3
But what was his # and brand nummy?
Good choice for music in this video.
This race took place exactly 25 years before I was born
@NBR are we getting a 2006 Chase for the Cup video soon?
Unbeknownst to lots of people the beginning of ford's domination of the speedways particularly Bill Elliott. This was at the point that Ford had returned to factory backing their cars.
That Aero Bird was super strong at the Super Speedways. These Thunderbirds led to the birth of the GM Aero Coupes.
i enjoyed your video
Only Talladega win with FORD
That’s crazy
The funny part about Neil Bonnet broad-siding himself in front of the field at 2:41 is that his car suffered no damage at all and slid harmlessly to a stop on the inside grass. Meanwhile the chaos he started caused about 3 or 4 devastating hits behind him lol.
DALE could flat drive a racecar. Sure miss 'em.
That was Tim Richmond. Not Neil Bonett
👍🏻
Dude, he's WAY more associated with Daytona. 34 victories at Daytona. Where did they put his statue? He won more races at Daytona that anybody else. He dominated Talladega too
There should be a statue of him at Dega as well
@@vinewood8295 Agreed
Percentage wise, he won more witha ford than he did with a chevy.
Video would have been 100 times better with the regular announcers the whole time.
Wasnt a pit road speed limit, huh?
Nope
That wasnt issued untill after Geoff Bodine accidently killed Bill Elliot's Rear Tire Changer, Mike Rich
In a FOOOOOOORD BITCHES!!!!!!
was this a plate race
No did start running plate till 88
I've always thought Dale Sr driving a Ford was blasphemy
He drove a Dodge when he first came along
his first title I'm pretty sure was with Pontiac too or olds
@@brianglennon5692 his first championship was essentially a "GM Championship" and Osturland ran several other cars. His title year they ran Buicks at super speedways and Chevies everywhere else. His rookie season he ran Buick, Chevy, and Olds, and in 81 he ran exclusively Pontiac
@@sonnydog830 that's more or less how Nascar as a whole was back pre short wheelbase era
He actually started with a dodge than ford's
But he won more driving a CHEVROLET!!!!!
Yes he did, but how many races did he start in a ford compared to how many in a chevy ? Can't answer that, can you ahole?
Well yea lol that's what he mostly drove 😉
Won with Oldsmobile in 1979 and 80
Kyle Petty had to get out and do a few lines of coke.
😂
audio improves at 15 seconds!
MY EARS when the audio kicks in at 15 seconds: WE ARE IN THE CAR AND WE ARE GOING 180
2:18
Wow! With a ford no less.
Fun Fact:His very first race car the Pink K2 was a 1956 Ford Victoria
@@DixytheGoat9 I believe you are right. Also his first start in cup was In a ford # 96 a start and Parker as I recall. G day
@@DixytheGoat9 It was shown in Barry Pepper's 2004 portrayal of the Intimidator
Ummmmm .. . Is that a Ford that Dale is running??! I was 10/11 years old when this race took place (haha I'm a poet & didn't even know it) correction, I was 9yrs old lol
Woopty doo I have almost forgotten about ironhack
