One thing that i am curious about is how can you make a bass pattern like is it important to be in key etc?
Yes! In this video i knew what key my kalimba was, so i kept the chords and the bass in the same key. When making a bass pattern you can get as creative you want, but stay in the key of your song. Most beginners will make a bassline that only follows the root notes of the chords, and that is totally fine and is essentialy the role of the bass. So if the chords go Am - Gsus4 - F7, your bass line could just be a, g and f. Hope this helps :)
