I do not assess the reason to live in a place only on monetary terms or earning power. Ireland is best for bringing up kids and very low crime rate; there is way higher peace of mind here as the Irish are some of the best welcoming people on earth. There may be a few shades of institutional discrimination but you should expect that in any Caucasian-dominated country. Regarding the quality of life, when you consider the wealth of the nation vs population, Ireland is among the top 5 in the world having only about 5 million people in the entire country. I think Ireland is a place to be currently.

Nnanelle, one thing I say to internationally trained nurses with experience from back home is don't undermine yourself by staying in band 5 because you have seen others who get stuck in band 5 for 7 years or more.
Every year or 2 years look for a way to get out of any band you are. What experience? Skills? Education do you need? Make sure you are progressing in the right direction especially if you want that for yourself.

I did not realize that the UK and Ireland are paying nurses so low. How can one live off that pay when all the other societal taxes and factors are included? No wonder there is a nursing shortage. No one wants to pay for an education or become educated just to barely survive. No disrespect to my lovely sisters in the UK and abroad sanitation workers, maids, and even gas station employees make more than the UK is robbing their nurses for. Then paying for those overly privileged “royals” to live the high life is unbelievable. You all def deserve better.

UK wouldn't win even if the hours were the same. This is a pay only in London. This is not the salary of majority nurses in the NHS. How about the fact that it's a 2019 Payslip compared with a 2023 payslip. A NHS payslip can never win on a Ireland payslip.
