All I can say is, that RayTraycing technology is one pure illusion. Just watch the old Game from 2019/2020. A plague, with those bad amounts of dark rats. In the beginning history of this awesome 👍😎 Game you can see Rays ☀️ through the trees 🎄 in the woods. No RayTraycing support at all. But the programmers had implemented this nice details all over this game. In the configuration, you can choose if you want Rays or not. I have started this Game in 2K WQHD and all details on Ultra. The graphics are outstanding. Playing this on one 32" IPS Monitor with WQHD support is giving you the complete sharpness and strong colours. So when we just remembered the Crysis Games. With all those detailed and sharp natures. Where you can walk through trees or small woods, with lots of Ray's. They were implemented before. Why do Games today have specially programmed support for this things. Over the past, we had them for free. And for all Gamers. Absolutely free to choose NVIDIA GTX or AMD Radeon HD Graphic cards. It's all one big show and illusion, created by NVIDIA itself. Why did this company never share his knowledge with others, like Microsoft for example. AMD had found one very important detail in the past. PCs with multi core CPUs had one one way highway 🛣️ through DirextX. All the Games were running by one single core of multiple core CPUs. They come to Microsoft to show them this problem. So Microsoft invited NVIDIA as the biggest worldwide GPU company, to reunite one Team. But NVIDIA was always one single player, in his history. Never shared nothing with nobody. Even when it was crucial for us gamers. So keep happy with NVIDIA and her overpriced products. Surely they have the best quality in RayTraycing today. Cuz they have one long experience. Since they launched this feature in 2019 the first time, in the RTX 2000 Series of Graphic cards. Now they use the third Generation of RayTraycing cores and AI cores. AMD uses the second generation. And Intel with XeSS the first generation. It's nice to see one new Game player, in the GPU market. But they would need maybe 🤔 10-15 years to develop stable and good performance Drivers. I'm one very enthusiastic PC Hardware Junkie. So I collect all the old Game Hardware I owned before till today. And like to make comparisons with 2 different types of Graphic cards. Like I did in the past. My last project was back in 2020. And early 2021. Till Spring Time. I got ill and couldn't continue my projects. I was knocked out, first by my mental health, and later in 2022 by one very lethal body disease of bacteria . I must have one protecting guardian Angel 😇🙏. Cuz my chances to survive this disaster was 50/50%. Well back to the Game. I just wanted to show my old projects and my newer ones. I had built two identical PCs. With the same Chipsets and the same CPUs. X-470 and AMD Ryzen Processors 2700X. Equipped with one furious AMD Radeon VII and the other with one NVIDIA RTX 2080. The raw power of this AMD beast was incredible. I had made several Benchmarks with different presets and resolutions. 2K / 3K / 4K. My conclusion was that both cards were at the same level of performance. Without using RayTraycing technology, of course. The AMD Radeon VII hadn't this feature. My new projects for upcoming events are upgrading my old rigs with new CPUs and GPUs. Both were getting the same AMD Ryzen CPUs. Cuz of the old socket AM4. The 5800X3D. The GPUs would be very interesting. NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super. Against one AMD Radeon RX 7900XT or XTX. So when the events started, I may be making some videos like this guy did. Keep excited 😆 and healthy out there.
@@hombre-lusitano3414 My man, you are speaking of volumetric fog at the begining. One of youngest titles using this effect very overwhelming was Alan Woke 2. I agree this effect is making HUGE difference, for RT i can see only reflections as good technic, rest..... is not mature enough to justify the performance cost. | We all know, whatever Nvidia will do, will being forced into games - no matter if its better or worse - its branded by nvidia. Do you remember first reviews of RTX 2000? When noone actually showed RT in charts? What Nvidia did? "You will show it, or you will be out of our reviewers list (no more samples to test)". TressFX is another example, when it was bypassed by Nvidia's hairworks, that was worse in all aspects. Physics? At least there they not make monopoly on this, but it was very close. Now this is RT - believe me, mark my words - when AMD will make GPU stronger in RT than Nvidia, Nvidia will create new technology (unlimited budget = unlimited possibilities), even with skyboxes in games. And then they will stop repeating RT prayers and pray new Skyboxes. We may see START of this not long ahead, with RX 8800XT (even now RX 7900 GRE is not that far behind RTX 4070, these are basicaly on pair in RT - 4070 have better result with High RT, but in the end also too small FPS (with that high RT) to comfortable play, so both cards are not for High RT settings).
Thank you for well-summarized update under really short notice. I noticed that some shimmering can be eliminated on Ratchet and Clank if you lower the sharpness slider on Graphics menu. There is two sharpness sliders, one is for upscaler and another for in-game.
I have only one game installed which updated to FSR 3.1 and that is Horizon Forbidden West and I tried out and compared to DLSS 3.7.10 on my RTX 4080. And it is a huge improvement over FSR 2.2 the only problem I saw is waterfalls and running water which is not too stable against DLSS 3.7.10. I used 1440p Quality because I don't have a 4k monitor and I was lazy to connect my PC to my 4k TV. FSR 3.1 Frame Generation and even FSR 3.0 Frame Generation were/are usually gives more frames than DLSS Frame Generation and I tried many DLSS Frame Generation dll files. To be honest I saw some artifacts with FSR Frame Gen and DLSS Frame Gen too so there is no winner here, maybe FSR 3.1 because that gives more frames and now I can combine DLSS with FSR 3.1 Frame Gen so win-win.
I appreciate the UltraWide benchmark testing. FSR 3.1 is what we all been waiting for. I feel it was worth the wait based on the video. Great video as always.
Have to admit I tested FSR3 + FSR3 FG in HFW on my 4090 and was suprised how well it looked, even on performance mode it still looked good enough to play at, I am using 4K so it has more data which helps but still impressive, and what was even more suprising was I gained FPS over DLSS + DLSS FG
I’ve practically finished Ghost of Tsushima with DLSS + FSR FG combo and it was a really nice experience. Now that they’ve improved the upscaling by a lot, Radeon users will be able to get better experience for sure
Ohh my goodness, it looks so much better. Listen, even 2.1 wasn't nearly as bad as people said. Cyberpunk it was cool, Alan wake 2 was REALLY good (besides shimmer, which happened no matter what upscaler or gpu you used). So yeah, I am glad to see AMD continuing to improve their upscaling tech.
Finally, Fabio, the only reliable tester who made a video about FSR on AMD RADEON GPU! I hate those people who are comparing fsr to dlss on nvidia gpu even if fsr is made for radeon like dlss is made for nvidia (but fsr works for everuone but its slightly worse). Nice video!
Nope. FSR is a static algorithm. So it doesn't matter which hardware it is running on. It is not relying on any special cores like DLSS or XeSS. That's also why it will never be as good as those ML based upscalers. Only thing FSR3.1 is better at is handling motion. Picture quality is still much worse than other two.
11:35 Not even 2009 resolutions. I was playing at 1680x1050 in 2004 with HL2. Sad that the consoles dip down to 720p in a lot of games - most notably UE5 titles.
i tried it and it was much better then what i experienced with DLSS 3.5 in cyberpunk tho i compared 2 diffrent games because i tried it in horizon forbidden west i mean the fsr 3.1 only thing i can say is WOW nice job AMD
It's crazy how people still have bias on big companies instead of providing positive feedback on whose company provides more in the gaming space, if another company grows big and gave better service to the consumer then provide them positive feedback, I won't nitpick what my bias on a billion dollar company.
FSR implementation prior to 3.1 was already very good for Ghost of Tsushima . Would be really interesting to see a comparison on a game like Robocop (if it is ever implemented on it). That game had awful FSR implementation and lots of shimmering and weird stuff happening.
Damn.. im seeing alot of mixed reviews regarding the promised improvements and youtube compression isn't doing any favors. I guess i have to see for myself as soon any of my games get updated. I appreciate the efford tho.

For me HFW coastal areas are abysmal with FSR3.1, upscaling: waves are all smeared. Xess handles them much better. Framegen works well but only with FSR3.1, while with Xess it hitches like crazy. Hope we get a dll update soon.
It is actually better now; Ghost of Tsushima has good FSR implementation. Although some games like Ratchet and Clank FSR 3.1 is worse than 2.2, image is way more unstable for some reason...
I was really impressed with Performance FSR 3.1 also, just really competing now with DLSS despite what the Nvidia fanboys are saying. We all know they need too just keep justifying DLSS etc for the higher prices they have to pay lol & Ancient Gameplays is never ever biased... Actually he just says it how it is! Might be worth trying a FSR 3.1 mod for Cyberpunk for those who haven't completed it yet if FSR 3.1 Performance mode is going to look that clean I keep saying CD PROJEKT RED don't wanna put FSR 3 in the game lol AMD users Love you lot! Keep up the great work AG man 👍
FSR 3.1 with FG is implemented on Ghost of Tsushima so good. Believe me or not I managed to finish it on my ancient GTX 1050ti @1080p,low, 50-60fps that also without much of any issue like little to no input lag and shimmering. There was overall no game breaking experience. Such a clutch feature by AMD 🔥
Damn comments are really reading like the average UserBenchmark page. "AMD is inferior, even when testing puts it on par with daddy NVidia." on repeat. It's almost like we aren't buying AMD because we just.. don't like having the best possible product, it's because we want similar performance WITHOUT SELLING OUR KIDNEYS to afford it.
I love how many Nvidia people seem to spend their time watching AMD videos 🤣I've had both for years and neither was better but my AMD card was cheaper. AMD is living rent free in your heads 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video! I played around with it in Horizon: Forbidden West as soon as I heard it was released. I am by no means an expert in this stuff, but even to me it seemed like a pretty massive improvement over the previous upscaling methods I had tried in the game (I don't have DLSS, so I can't speak to that) and the frame generation was kinda blowing my mind being able to practically double my fps, which is truly awesome for those of us with slightly older/mid-range cards (e.g. my RX 6700 XT). Great to see I wasn't just imagining things and it really is quite an impressive update. Thanks, as always, for doing these in-depth analyses.
I don't know why so many Nvidia users hate FSR 3.1, you don't have to use FSR 3.1 if you hate it so much. I don't have that many problems with FSR 3.1, it runs much better with my RX 7700XT than the old FSR 3.0 (2.1) I think it makes sense that FSR runs better with the AMD Rx 7000 cards but even on my old rx 6600 FSR 3.1runs really good ;)
Now I will wait for CDPR to add FSR 3.1 so I can play Cyberpunk for the 5th time now. There is a lot of ghosting even with TAA in CP2077. I wonder if FSR 3.1 can help a little
Honestly, at least on horizon, at 1440p while using fsr quality and frame gen I can't really notice that much difference compared to native. While with fsr 2.2 it was unbearable invterms of visual quality
FSR is way much better now... Albeit its Rocky start... Its work On almost every GPU , easier to implement But we all know The team Green Simp will always downplay FSR tech

Having an option that makes your system any better and last any longer is a high value software feature for consumers. Keep up the great work AMD and Ancient 🙌🫡
Ok, now it is time to get GOOD GAMES to play!!! Finally!!!
..finally?
Once all these tiny differences (almost nobody can notice) are solved (pls decide it is enough)

i can't see the Problem on video games on those comparisions, nor side by side...that is almost nothing
It's about time man. FSR has been lacking quality
i never see any prob w fsr, even w nvidia gpu
I wonder how close fsr 3.1 is to sony own upscaler? this could be a sign that these are not too different..
I believe (like I said before) that Sony's upscaler is based on FSR 3.1
@@AncientGameplays hopefully this will help. implement it faster. on pc too

Great video, I already criticized other channels because they didn't check any quality mode, I believe under 4k upscaling quality is the best option...test performance at 1080p is way too to much. Happy to see 1400p UW and quality mode tested!
I mean, i even test 720P to 1440P and works very decent, much better than before
@@AncientGameplays it does, in fact I would like quality mode to start upscaling from 1080 instead of 960, it is curious they use same vase resolution for quality and balance modes
Just read that FSR 3.1 will be much easily upgradeable, so maybe like nVidia DLSS "drag and drop" the dll file style upgradeablity?
It will be exactly like that
Not the case now unfortunately
Thanks for getting us this new FSR Fabio!
Thank you as well! Will make a more detailed comparison after!

I'd really like to have it for Cyberpunk and Avatar in particular.

Still waiting also. Every other game still fine with no framegen.
If not I'm sure someone will mod it. But native implementation is ideal
Thanks. The first really meaningful test video for FSR3.1 Unfortunately, as always, all the social media haters are coming out of their holes. "Of course FSR 3.1 is also completely unusable", for them. xD

Or they might actually prefer proper ML based upscalers instead of a static filter.
Wow, power of mindshare in the comments. AMD cant do anything better than Nvidia, simply cant - even if AMD thing is better, its worse. Just Because.... "Nvidia is better" lol It like lying to yourself and telling yourself, that DLSS is perfect and is "Better than native" image (with MSAA, not TAA or TXAA). It is not, every upscaler have its downsides. EVERY. All we can judge is implementation quality, not upscaler itself ;)
Exactly!
Glad you got better man. Thanks for an awesome post ❤@hombre-lusitano3414

Thank you for well-summarized update under really short notice. I noticed that some shimmering can be eliminated on Ratchet and Clank if you lower the sharpness slider on Graphics menu. There is two sharpness sliders, one is for upscaler and another for in-game.
Yeah, the sharpness slider was already at 4 only
Would love to see it in SONS OF THE FOREST because the game really needs that extra performance
Yeah, they need to improve that now
I appreciate the UltraWide benchmark testing. FSR 3.1 is what we all been waiting for. I feel it was worth the wait based on the video. Great video as always.
Fsr3 frame gen gave me a lot of stuttering and spikes in forbidden West and it was anti lag.. Disabling anti lag and my game fixed itself too.
Anti lag should always be off unless you're having specific issues

Have to admit I tested FSR3 + FSR3 FG in HFW on my 4090 and was suprised how well it looked, even on performance mode it still looked good enough to play at, I am using 4K so it has more data which helps but still impressive, and what was even more suprising was I gained FPS over DLSS + DLSS FG
Yeap, NVIDIA is better in upscaling, but AMD has better Frame Generation
@@AncientGameplays I think what's even better is it actually works in Linux seemingly without any issues
To me, it looks way better in terms of aliasing, shimmering and pixelation. The ghosting still needs work.
True, but MUCH better indeed
I’ve practically finished Ghost of Tsushima with DLSS + FSR FG combo and it was a really nice experience. Now that they’ve improved the upscaling by a lot, Radeon users will be able to get better experience for sure
Ohh my goodness, it looks so much better. Listen, even 2.1 wasn't nearly as bad as people said. Cyberpunk it was cool, Alan wake 2 was REALLY good (besides shimmer, which happened no matter what upscaler or gpu you used). So yeah, I am glad to see AMD continuing to improve their upscaling tech.
In case no one noticed, AMD also released new chipset drivers a few days ago
Love that Ultrawide content.

Thank You Pisco I truly appreciate all that you do Homie

Played Horizon briefly, noticed they added an Xess Ultra Quality+ option, first time I've ever saw that.
because with XeSS 1.3:
Quality = Ultra Quality
Ultra Quality = Ultra Quality +
i tried it and it was much better then what i experienced with DLSS 3.5 in cyberpunk
tho i compared 2 diffrent games because i tried it in horizon forbidden west i mean the fsr 3.1
only thing i can say is WOW nice job AMD
I appreciate the efford tho.
let's put it this way. MUCH better in temporal stability, a bit worse ghosting wise, and still bad in terms of water particles.

For me HFW coastal areas are abysmal with FSR3.1, upscaling: waves are all smeared. Xess handles them much better.
Framegen works well but only with FSR3.1, while with Xess it hitches like crazy.

Awesome man. It's insane fsr 3.1 can achieve this without special cores. Good news for both amd and nvidia users that don't have latest gpus
exactly, free to use
amd is killing nvidia, they gave like 3rd life to GTX 900 and 1000 series, how can they sell new gpus if this pesky amd staff does this
It is actually better now; Ghost of Tsushima has good FSR implementation.
Although some games like Ratchet and Clank FSR 3.1 is worse than 2.2, image is way more unstable for some reason...
Far from more unstable, I remembwr fsr 2.2 well, and I don't think that's the case, couls be better though
If FSR 3.1 was more unstable in Ratchet and Clank than FSR 2.2 it would literally be pixel soup, FSR 2.2 did *not* look good in that game.

@@AncientGameplays 👍
@toonnut1 tbh not even close.
It's probably going to be close at higher resolutions when it's implemented well but won't look as good at lower resolutions.
I wish they would do an Ultra Quality setting instead of starting at quality, there are a lot of games where I just barely need upscaling.
AMD grate job, continue in the same direction 👍

Nixxes is seriously the GOAT
Nixxes kind of does with ports what Bluepoint does with remakes. I always expect high quality work from them.
I wish they have ported TLoUp1. Honestly at this point i wish they port EVERY game in the future.
